Hip-Hop Rumors: Are Bow Wow And Soulja Boy Pulling A “106 & Park” Publicity Stunt?

Bow Wow has taken over hosting duties as one of four new hosts on BET’s “106 & Park”, but according to an inside source, the ratings have allegedly been lackluster. So what is a Hip-Hop artist/TV host to do? Hmm, perhaps he would call up one of his rap homeboys and start a fake Twitter beef? Then invite said rapper – a.k.a. Soulja Boy – onto your new show for a confrontation. Sounds genius! Now, I’m not sure if this is the case, but as online savvy as Bow Wow and Soulja Boy are, I wouldn’t put it past them. Soulja Boy berated Boy Wow over Twitter, first calling him “broke” and then following up that tweet promoting his appearance on “106 & Park”. How convenient. Check out the tweets from Soulja Boy below: Bow Wow played it cool (probably because he’s in on it), and responded as politically correct as he knows how: Soulja Boy stayed on script and continued going in on Bow Wow, calling him “lame” and even challenging him to a fight. Hip-Hop Rumors: FLICKS – Hip-Hop Halloween – Which Power Couple Did It Best?

Hip-Hop was in the Halloween spirit early this year, as many artists and socialites showed off their costumes at Halloween parties across the U.S. over the weekend! Many of Hip-Hop’s top couples made it a date night and stepped out in their Halloween best alongside their better halves. Check out Diddy, who was dressed as Prince, and Cassie, who made a beautiful Cleopatra: Kanye West and Kim Kardashian spent their first Halloween together as a couple and decided to go in semi-matching costumes. Kim went over the top in a mermaid get-up with a blonde wig, and Kanye was her Captain. Someone asked Kanye what he was dressed as, and he didn’t even know it was Halloween! Just joking, but you know Kanye just pulled something out of his closet and came up with that combination. Big Boi hosted a Halloween party in the A dressed up as Darth Vadar, and his wifey matched his black and white fly with a Punisher costume. The single ladies of Hip-Hop were running around celebrating Halloween over the weekend as well. Lil’ Kim performed in what looks like one of her typical stage costumes with kitty cat ears for the Halloween touch. YMCMB’s Christiana Milian ran around Hollywood as the Queen of Spades, and Angela Simmons was an angel. Very sexy! Basketball Wives L.A. star Draya attended a party in Hollywood dressed as what I can only describe as a very sexy bride out of a p#### movie. In other words, Meek Mill’s dream girl. She posted a few photos of herself in the provocative costume, one of which Meek reposted. What is home girl doing in that last pic? Not cute, Draya. Hip-Hop Rumors: R.I.P. Blaque’s Natina Reed – Was The Accident A ‘Hit And Run’ Or Not?

First off, AllHipHop would like to send its condolences to the family of Natina Reed. Natina was in the singing group Blaque and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes’ protege. She was the rapper in the group and is credited with writing their biggest hit, “808”. She also starred in one of the Bring It On films, and was on the short lived show, V.I..P with Pamela Anderson. Over the weekend, Natina was hit and killed by a car in Atlanta, in what was originally being reported as a ‘hit and run.’ A new report has surfaced today in the Atlanta journal-Constitution that counters that original report and actually says that the driver was not at fault and reported the accident to the police himself. “As of right now, it does not appear that the driver has any fault in this event,” said police spokesman Sgt. Rich Long. According to the police report, Natina was walking on a poorly lit piece of road on Lawrenceville Highway (U.S. 29) in Atlanta at 10:30PM on Friday night, when she was struck by a red Honda Accord. Police are still trying to determine why she was walking on the highway so late at night. Natina, who was only 32 years old, leaves behind a 10-year old son with rapper Kurupt. The rapper was devastated by the news and released the following statement to MTV News: “Myself and Tren, Natina’s son, would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this tragic time,” he said. “This is a tremendous loss to our family. Natina was a great person and I wish everyone had the opportunity to meet her and know her as I did.” Natina’s parents were on the local news and say that she was distracted and on the telephone at the time she was struck. That depends who you ask, but I can tell you this, Nicki sure does have a lot of epic things going on in her life right. Aside from the “American Idol” gig, Nicki is about to be your next huge money-making reality star. The commercials for her three episode special on E! have begun airing, and the theatrics are highly visible. Nicki also mentions Mariah Carey in the commercials, so expect to get some light shed on that whole situation. But what about Hip-Hop…right? Well, Nicki has just released a new single called “Va Va Voom”. The video was directed by famed Hip-Hop music video director, Hype Williams. I have to admit, I was hopeful that the song and video were going to be more of that Hip-hop Nicki, especially with Hype Williams involved, but after watching the video, that was just wishful thinking on my part. It sounds as if Game is still really upset with Shyne about the comments he made regarding Kendrick Lamar’s album. There is one rapper in particular that’s been on a hating crusade as of late, and now he’s trying to come after the GOD emcee, Nas. This mumbling, bumbling rapper can’t even light a candle to Nasir Jones, yet in a recent interview, he was bold enough to try to diss Nas and cite his money trouble. The audacity!!! Hip-Hop Rumors: Are The Lox Really Considering Re-Signing With Diddy?!

The LOX will finally be releasing a new album, and according to the good people over at MTV News, (Shout out Rahman Dukes and Rob Markman), Swizz Beatz and DJ Khaled will be executive producing their new LP. Check out what Sheek Louch said about the upcoming album below: “The last meeting I had was with Swizz and Khaled and they’re executive producing this new LOX album. [This meeting] was the one that grabbed us and we’re gonna give y’all some real, real big records.” That’s amazing news for all you LOX fans out there who haven’t had a LOX album in over 12 years! It looks like Swizz is already putting his connections to good use, and has gotten the LOX in the studio with the Mrs. – Alicia Keys. “I was just in the studio the other night with us and Alicia Keys working on the Lox project and get ready y’all,” Sheek revealed. “I’m sorry for the delay and the wait, but this joint is gonna be monstrous, man.” Sheek was up at the MTV office along with Ghostface Killah playing a few tracks from their upcoming WU Block album…more on that later. Okay, so what’s with this re-signing to Diddy business in the headline? Well, Sheek revealed that the LOX took meetings with lots of record label execs, including Lil’ Wayne and Diddy. “Lil Wayne tried to sign us, Puff tried to re-sign us and paint that picture over, we done been in mother—ers’ living rooms and talkin’ business,” he said. I am shocked that after everything the LOX went through with Diddy in the past that they would even take a meeting with him. Were they seriously reconsidering signing with Diddy again? We in the Hip-Hop community know that there are two Tony Starks’. There’s the superhero in the Iron Man comic books, who is played by Robert Downey Jr. in the big budget movie version…and our boy Ghostface Killah a.k.a. Tony Starks from the Wu. What do you think would happen if these two Starks’ met face to face? Do you think there’d be a knife fight about who is the “real” Tony Starks? Not quite. Although, according to Ghostface Killah, real recognize real – and upon meeting Robert Downey Jr. in person, he says that Robert acknowledged his realness. Hip-Hop Rumors: Hilarious Throwback Footage of Kanye West And Ma$e!

Okay, throwback footage like this only comes around once every few years. Channel Zero.com has dug up some old footage of Ma$e and his group Harlem World taken way back in 1998. The footage was shot at Jermaine Dupri’s Birthday Bash and towards the end, a very skinny, very geeked up producer named Kanye West makes an appearance, and to say that he looks hilarious is an understatement. Yeezy is super excited to be there with the Harlem World group, and after shouting out Cardan, he talks about a track he produced for the group featuring Nas. Hip-Hop Rumors: Who Swooped In And Snatched Nicki Minaj’s Pepsi Deal?

It looks like Mariah Carey isn’t the only person Nicki Minaj has p*ssed off lately. Rumor has it that the folks over at Pepsi Corporate have allegedly decided to pull the plug on the Nicki Minaj Pepsi ad campaign that launched last year. Since that time, the rapper/singer has signed a deal to become a judge on “American Idol”, which is sponsored by their biggest competitor, Coca-Cola. So, although Nicki is a Pepsi girl, part of her American Idol deal contractually binds her to drink from a Coca-Cola cup during the show. That’s a big no-no for Pepsi, who was dead set against her taking the judging gig in the first place. Pepsi reportedly wants that old thing back and has recruited Beyonce to star in a new Pepsi ad that will run during the Super Bowl. Photos from the commercial shoot have leaked online, and they clearly show Beyonce back at that familiar Pepsi vending machine….just like her previous commercial with them in 2002. Hip-Hop Rumors: Was This Tupac’s Last Song Recorded Before His Death?

There is a Tupac track entitled “Let’s Get It On” that is circulating the ‘net claiming to be the final recording before his death. The song was allegedly written about Mike Tyson, who Tupac name drops at the end of the song, and was allegedly recorded on 9/5/96. Tupac died just a few days later on 9/13/96. We don’t know if this is legitimate, hence why it’s in the rumors section. Tyson walked out to this song in his March 16, 1996 fight vs. Frank Bruno. The sound quality’s not that great, but you can hear the beginning of the song pretty clearly. Wow, who would have ever thought that Shyne was going to turn into this attention seeking, Twitter ranting, out of touch character? His latest Twitter rant involves West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar, who has just released his new album, good kid, M.A.A.D city, earlier this week. With heavy endorsements from legends Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, Kendrick is being groomed to be a leader in Hip-Hop. All of the hype around him had Shyne expecting “Doggystyle or The Chronic“and according to his tweets, he got “trash”. Check out Shyne’s tweets below: It sounds like Shyne’s expectations were a little too high…but calling the album “trash,” though? I don’t know about that! N*gga ain’t had a hot verse since ’01.” Shyne responded to the tweet by calling Schoolboy Q and “f*g” and tweeting, “When mobsters talking rappers be quiet!” Houston rapper Slim Thug seemed to want to insert himself in the controversy and retweeted one of Shyne’s tweets about Kendrick Lamar’s album being trash. Shyne responded to Slim Thugga’s retweet by writing, “@slimthugga I’m saying tho, all the hype I wanted to hear the champion! I heard a kid with potential. Jigga, who rocked the jersey during his historic opening night show at the Barclays Center, has teamed up with NBA.com to auction off 5 home jerseys and 5 road jerseys which feature his signature, along with the message ‘Peace, Jay-Z” on the size tag of the jersey.
