(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne’s managers have revealed that scam artists are still hard at work attempting to swindle local promoters out of their cash, by fraudulently booking the rap star.Over the course of 2010, Cash Money/Young Money artists Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj were the targets of fake booking agents nationwide. The booking agents usually take tens-of-thousands of dollars upfront for the artists, who never show up, since they were never really booked in the first place. The latest scam is taking place in Tampa, Florida, where phony agents representing Lil Wayne attempted to cash in on a New Year’s Eve appearance, as well as several other dates in the New Year. Last week, Empire Nightclub in Ybor City was victimized by the scam, when the owner of the club canceled a New Year’s Eve party that was supposed to feature Lil Wayne.Ken Grossman, the owner of Empire Nightclub, has claimed that he has already suffered a financial loss due to the scam and is planning legal action against the fake promoter.Shortly after Lil Wayne was released from prison in November of 2010, his representatives had to issue a statement regarding an outbreak of fake bookings throughout the United States. “Lil Wayne, who is co-managed by Bryant Management and Hip Hop Since 1978, domestic tours are booked exclusively by Live Nation and Shawn Gee of SEFG, LLC,” Bryant’s rep said.
[Note: Chuck D wrote this essay as a letter to Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur (AllHipHop.com) and Davey D (DaveyD.com). With permission, the message by the Public Enemy leader, has been edited slightly into a scathing editorial about the media, Hip-Hop and the how the culture has been pimped by a mere few.] Chuck D: I really don’t know what constitutes for “relevant” coverage in HIP-HOP news in America these days, but I really want to give you all a heads up. As you know I’ve been through three passports, 76 countries on the regular in the name of Hip-Hop since 1987 and in 2010, although I’ve never stopped traveling the earth this year, I’ve seen, heard and felt some new things. As far as RAP and HIP-HOP, it’s like USA Olympic basketball, the world has parity now and have surpassed the USA in ALL of the basic fundamentals of HIP-HOP – TURNTABLISM, BREAKING, GRAFFITI, and now EMCEEING with succinct mission , meaning and skill. Skill-wise rappers spitting three languages, have created super rappers to move the crowd with intensity and passion. The “arrogant” American comes in blackface, but if there was a HIP-HOP or Rap Olympics, I really don’t think the United States would get Gold, Silver or Brass or even ass for that sake. Personally, Public Enemy has been setting records in a record book that doesn’t really exist. The 20th year anniversary of FEAR OF A BLACK PLANET has become into a year and a half celebration of eights legs and five continents. All the while, looking at a HIP-HOP Planet across 25 countries while still somewhat supportive of American rap, the rest of the world has surpassed the U.S. in skill, in fundamentals and commitment to their communities. Public Enemy’s mission is to set the path, pave the road for cats to do their thing for a long time as long as they do it right. Because of the lack of support from local radio, television and community in the United States, the ability for “local” acts to thrive in their own radius has killed the ability to connect and grow into a proper development as a performer, entertainer and artist. Rappers trying to get put on to a national contract hustle from a NEW YORK or LOS ANGELES corporation has caused the art-form to atrophy from the bottom, while never getting signed to a top echelon that really doesn’t exist, but to a very few. HIP-HOP NEWS spreads like any other mainstream NEWS in America. The garbage that’s unfit to print has now floated on websites and blogs like sh*t. For example a rapper working in the community gets obscured while if that same rapper robbed a gas station he’d get top coverage and be label a “rapper” while getting his upcoming or current music somewhat put on blast, regardless of its quality which of course is subjective like any other art. RAP sites and blogs are mimicking the New York POST. This is not mere complaint , this is truth and its coming down on Americans like rain without a raincoat with cats screaming how they ain’t wet. This is real. The other night upon finishing groundbreaking concert performances in Johannesburg we followed a special free concert in Soweto. To make a point that our agenda was to “show? and encourage the Hip-Hop community to be comfortable in its mind and skin without chasing valueless Amerikkkan values. Never have so many been pimped by so few. It does the people of the planet little good to hear that an an artist is famous and rich, will wear expensive jewelry straight from the mines, show it off, stay it the hotel, ride in limos, do the VIP with chilled champagne in the clubs, ape and monkey the chicks (meaning not even talking) and keep the dudes away with slave paid bodyguards when real people come close. The mimic of the VIACOM-sanctioned video has run tired, because it shows off, does NOT inspire and it says NOTHING. Here in South Africa PUBLIC ENEMY has done crucial groundbreaking performances. Its the same level of smashing the house that we’ve done this year in Moscow, New York, Paris, London , Chicago and other places this year. This is not news We are not trying to prove any point other than to show that a classic work is timeless and doesn’t have a demographic per se. The Rolling Stones and U2 are NOT measured by mere tracks’ they are measured by the all-around event they present. The art of the performance has left Hip-Hop whereas somebody has led artists to do more performing off the stage than on it. The agenda here is to create artist exchange This serves as a call to the infrastructure-less Hip-Hop game in Amerikkka. We know what your hustle is, but what is your work and job here? Faking it until making it runs its course in a recession, which is a depression for Black folks who increasingly are becoming more skill-less as they become jobless. Never have so many been pimped by so few. Since the music has so much power, and image has become everything to the point that it can dictate the direction of a person in their life, it is my mission now to really become a “freedom fighter” and stop this radiation. With Jay-Z and others who, for years would faint their worth, the statement of “with great power comes great responsibility,” is more true. Words are powerful and they can both start wars and bring peace. This cannot be taken lightly. Its important for the words to be body with the community. If not one dime of $250 million doesn’t benefit the people who contribute to it then why does that warrant coverage above the will and effort of many in the music who have done great things. Never have so many been pimped by so few. I turned 50 this year. Everyday I get the question whats up with […]
(AllHipHop News) Ghostface Killah has revealed that hes looking to release a follow-up to Supreme Clientele, his classic 2000 album. We got the Supreme Clientele II coming, a monster, Ghostface said in a video from a tour stop in Philly. We aint going nowhere. Ghostface Killahs Apollo Kids, his ninth studio album, is available in stores now. The tour video is below.
Lil Wayne and Bangladesh are a combination that have already created some some great music. Thus far, the way the creation of the beat has been somewhat of a mystery until now. Bangladesh has released the inner workings on how he crafted “6’7″,” the new song that features Wayne and Cory Gunz. Check out the video below. Bonus: Lil Wayne celebrates in Chicago for New Year’s Eve.
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND THANKS! Happy New Year to everybody. I want to say thanks to everybody that gave me an encouraging word, constructive criticism and even hated on me. It all goes into a mental cache to be processed and dealt with accordingly. I would name names, but I won’t because I would invariably miss somebody. But, I had an announcement to make that would make my haters happy, but I’m going to hold off in a few. Thanks to all and welcome to 2011. I’m glad most of us made it. Now, back to these rumors… A WORD ABOUT THE RUMORS & THE STARS IN THEM! Just wanted to tell you…don’t let these loud-mouthed celebrities fool you. The ones that are the loudest typically have the most BS in the closet. For example, a recent “celebrity” took to twitter to air out all sorts of atrocities perpetrated by myself and, I guess AHH too. But, check it…a LOT of times, the very rumors you see in this section of the site are leaked by the actual stars themselves! I want them to keep giving me their plans or fake plans so I’ll chill (or post it on illseed.com), but there is more going on behind the scenes than in front! TAHIRY ALONE? Everybody saw this video…of Tahiry saying she “stands alone” in all of her budd-dunk-a-dunk glory. Here is is, if you didn’t see it. FYI: you don’t want to watch at work. Anyway, I’ve been told that this is all hyperbole to create some buzz. My sources were right there and saw it first hand. Tahiry was out in Washington DC with a man-friend and they were particularly cozy out there. Seemed like they were bringing in the new year with a date. No hate. Keep making videos and we’ll keep watching. 50 CENT’S ALL UP IN 90210? I didn’t know that “90210” still came on! There are some light rumors in circulation that dude is messing with one of the snow bunnies on the show. Now word on which one. Here is the staff of actors. ILLSEED’S PERSON OF THE YEAR? Yep. Read about it here. I got more hate for this one that last years!!!! Sheeeesh! LIL KIM WON’T LIKE THIS! Nicki was out and about and covering her face. The firs thing I thought about was Lil Kim. I wonder if Nicki has seen this picture of Lil Kim. BO DEREK WON’T LIKE THIS! Kim Kardashian came out with her new style, but another old head icon may not like it. Here is Bo Derek from back in the day. I don’t think Bo Derek will care. Kim was shooting for something for her new music video so its probably a dedication anyway. RAZ-B AND CHRIS BROWN KISSED AND MADE UP! LOL! That was really funny…and corny. But the beef is over! Chris Brown said sorry to the Gays just before the Mafia ordered the hit. LIL WAYNE IN CHICAGO! Lil Wayne was doing his thing in so many different places, its crazy. Most of them were taped during New Year’s but STILL. Here is OZONE with the Young Money man in Chi-Town. NELLY AND ASHANTI STOP PLAYING SMH. This is what happens when you exhaust all other press options. XZIBIT FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY This isn’t any hate at all! But X to the Z had to file for BK over the holiday. Hope he sees a comeback in 2011. Here are the stats. The IRS filed a $22,196 lien against him Nov. 2 with the Los Angeles County Recorder. The IRS filed a $435,487 lien July 21, 2009, with the Bernalillo County Clerk in New Mexico, where he owns a home. The IRS filed a $205,485 lien Feb. 4, 2009, in Los Angeles County. He owes income taxes from 2007, according to the lien. The IRS filed a $296,355 lien April 17, 2008, in Los Angeles County for unpaid income taxes from 2006, records show. KEEP YA HEAD UP, X! NICKI MINAJ, WE LOVE YOU! They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!
So I suppose the indignant spirit of Sean Hannity lived on as Tucker Carlson filled in for his absence on Fox News. Either that, or that bowtie has finally cut off too much oxygen circulating in his head. In what could be interpreted as an attempt to aim a thinly veiled insult at President Obama and turn dog- loving constituents against him, Tucker provided his own theory regarding Michael Vicks redemptive season as the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. After President Obama called the Philly organization to applaud them for giving Vick a second chance, Tucker lambasted the presidents move and coolly stated that Vick should have been executed for fighting dogs that said right after mentioning he was a Christian. Once again I say thank you to conservatives for giving Christians such as myself a bad name. Their intolerance is matched only by their arrogance. Does anyone have a tranquil dart? cause this guy obviously needs to be sedated. This felt like a desperation shot, a Hail Mary if you will, of Tuckers to stay on our collective minds. And while I realize I m helping keep this mans relevance alive by perpetuating this story I feel obliged to respond as well. While Ive already addressed the double standard issue of Vicks sentencing in comparison to how Ben Roethlisberger and Brett Favres cases have played out in the retooling and reposting of Double Standard Procedures, Mr. Carlson has reawakened the sleeping giant within me. Sometimes it truly is better to just let sleeping dogs lie. So the question to pose to Mr. Carlson is this: if we adopt the same rationale as you and apply it to the same men who treated slaves lower than dogs then freed them to fight and die for the Union, what judgment should be passed for them? Riddle me that, hypocrite. ~ American Dogfighting Flushed out of Foxs corner pocket like Russ Parr And rushing like Limbaugh to expose how hes a despicable dunderhead, Who heard what subpar Tucker Carlson posing as a political pundit said When he publicly declared that the Eagles pick 7 should be executed? Who is he to turn kid Vicks comeback into a low quality promo Like some humpback quasi h### Have you ever seen this anomalys photo?!! not even Bo knows why he ties bows below that head of nuisance. Besides, doesnt Tucker seem like the type Who rubs peanut butter and Smuckers between his thighs Just to let some beagles provide him his own b###### fantasy league?!! For the way hes made a life with his ducktail as Foxs head, Someone should make this guy tuck his tail between his postured legs This dudes a lamer duck than Donald pegged for a Congress-led sequel to Fantasias re-release. I mean, who is he to besmirch Vicks remarkable offense With such an unpardonable offence? Such harsh comments for a man who paid his debt to society? With such harsh words for pitting mens best friends, Whats his parsed blurb for Ben and Bretts sex offence? How is it less offensive when mens sex friends get vetted impolitely? Better yet, lets go one level deeper into the pool. Whats his take on Confederate fetters leveled at a peoples roots? Ive heard his take on an Eagles dues but what about when slaves were treated unrulier than dogs? I know slaverys in the American Eagles past, But since he wants to embarrass an Eagles pass Im runnin interference by comparin an evil passed with incongruent laws. Forget a scathing blog! Lets get some backbreaking flogs! Since he wants to wake the dogs, lets sic em get em boys, bark with viciousness! You shouldve left sleeping dogs a lyin Instead, youve gone and woke up a sleeping, groggy giant Its too late to put it to sleep and euthanize it the venom in this pens a poised barbiturate. You and your conservative friends arent elegant youre buffoons! Its time we addressed the elephant in the room. I know you think President Lincolns precedent looms with great stature. But what he stood for had Republican ulterior motives. Slaves emancipation sanctioned a repugnant pull for clearin quotas As mortgaged freedmen fought for Glory as fully adherent soldiers free to fight and die for the great hereafter. But what happened to those that survived? What rations were given to the ghosts that returned alive? What were these shells on earth to surmise from the same home where the Braves were razed? What trials for the trails of blood, sweat and tears Could they expect from entrails and guts that were treaded and smeared? Is this what they were vetted for and cleared purely bled as purebreds when the stakes were raised? So dont speak to me about execution, Tucker Carlson. Take a seat your elocution is tuckered, you charlatan. Im bringin the ruckus like Rucker Park youre cousin Carlton on the wall, its lights out for you. Rather, Im puttin fresh prints above the rim on a square Who dared to lay up a such a vexing brick on the air Its not about disrespecting Vick, its your air which Im prepared to fix as I knock the gall of your balls right out of you.***Reggie Legend is AllHipHop’s resident poet and cultural critic. (AllHipHop News) Eminem’s return to Hip-Hop had an international impact, as the rap star landed the best-selling single in the United Kingdom for 2010. Eminem’s collaboration “Love The Way You Lie” from his hit album Recovery, moved over 854,000 copies in 2010. The rapper’s single bested the next runner up – Matt Cardle – and his hit single “When We Collide”, by over 40,000 copies. Rihanna’s album Loud is also sitting at #1 on the UK’s Album Chart’s to start of 2011. Estranged Little Brother group members Phonte and 9th Wonder recently patched up their differences, although a full-fledged reunion is not in the works. The group parted ways with 9th Wonder in 2007. In March of 2010, after years of simmering tension, Phonte and 9th Wonder had a well publicized falling out via Twitter over a 9th Wonder track that was supposed to be on Little Brother’s last album LeftBack. Today, Phonte took to his Twitter page to reveal that he and 9th Wonder had a sit down, which was productive in terms of mending their friendship. “[It] Took 4 years, 2 plates of food and 6 hrs. of convo, but we squashed it,” Phonte tweeted. “I appreciate the love for me and @9thwondermusic, but us mending our rift had nothing to do with music and everything to do with manhood. We may collaborate in time, but this is not the start of a LB reunion as neither of us have interest in doing so. Sorry to disappoint. happy new year to all our supporters past and present. Feels great to start the year on a positive note. One love.”Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti continues to be scrutinized amidst accusations that the non-profit has mismanaged funds raised meant for victims of a January, 2010, 7.0 earthquake that leveled the capital of Port-Au-Prince and killed over 300,000 people. According to the latest allegations, Wyclef allegedly gave a woman named Zakiya Khatou-Chevassus a $42,000 raise from 2008, bringing her total salary to $147,000 for 2010. According to The Post, that’s almost $15,000 more than the charity’s president, Huge Locke earned. Khatou-Chevassus, who is VP of Yele Haiti, also acted as Wyclef’s personal assistant. Wyclef’s Yele Haiti was founded in 2005. The organization has raised over $14 million in donations to help victims in Haiti.

Oprah Winfrey have both come quite a ways to meeting on this common ground. On January 1, Oprah launched her network OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) and a new show was one of the many cornerstones of the day. Oprah’s Master Class is a show that features people the media magistrate respects and the lessons those people have learned throughout their careers. Jay-Z was the intro, but the series will also include Simon Cowell, Sidney Poitier, Dr. Maya Angelou, Diane Sawyer, Lorne Michaels, and Dr. Condoleezza Rice. The first show is below in three parts. 1/3 2/3 3/3
YES! It is that time once again, where I illseed offer up my person of the year. By this time, you have already read the headline and know that that person is none other than Nicki Minaj! (CHEERS!) Yes, Nick Minaj. Ms. Minaj joins the ranks of Rick Ross, MC Hammer, Will Smith, and others as the elite few that I personally bestow as the person of the year. I am sure there are a number of you that want to know why, because a lot of you hate Ms. Minaj. Well, I dont. That chick bad. Badder than yers. Nicki is the person of the year, because she managed to overcome every obstacle imaginable to rise to the tippy top of the rap game. Now, a decade or more ago this notion would not have been so far-fetched. Hip-Hop has always had an affinity for the underdog, but should Nicki have to get shot nine times for her achievements to be recognized? I think not. A nation of haters can be worse than nine bullets in this climate. Haters couldnt stop Nicki and she flipped it on the ocean of detractors. There has been a groundswell of rumors surrounding her ascension, but by the time her CD came it, everything had changed. She didnt rely on sex to sell, despite her highly suggestive name. Sure she oozed sensuality, but her debut Pink Friday didnt follow Lil Kim no matter how her arch nemesis claims her style was stolen. Nicki was kooky, crazy and creative…just how like like people. Pink Friday was an album that was decidedly geared towards women (and gays), make no mistake about that. And they loved them some Nicki so much they turned the word “stan” into a term of endearment (barbz). So, I and other men were all-but-excluded in the making, marketing and promotion of the album. I get it. We dont buy albums and Nicki knows her base. Her feature appearances were crazy and her profile went through the stratosphere, into the stars. I still give Nickster this honor, based on her story. That story is of a woman that came into her own, against every odd imaginable to do the unthinkable in an era of Hip-Hop that seem allergic to women. That’s right. Some of you act allergic to the female species! And, while we men were not the targets for the album called Pink Friday, every feature appearance, like Monster seemed to out for the guys respect…but the album was for the ladies. Fair enough. Hey, as far as Im concerned she got respect and she got this Illseeds Person of the Year.
The Sausage Award is an ominous one that could warrant a “pause,” but the name remains. The distinction goes to those artists and celebrities that have what we deem bad beef, hence the sausage reference. The silly beefs have feuds have got to cease and these are our award winners for the year 2010. 50 Cent / Perez Hilton Perez Hilton and The Gays got upset at 50 Cent when the G-Unit General sent out an ill-advised tweet on the popular social network Twitter. Perez Hilton calld me d######## so I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding. wasnt his but still made me feel better,” 50 said. This is certainly Spam level, but a beef nonetheless. MC Hammer / Jay-Z MC Hammer took offense to Jay-Z’s reference to his 1996 bankruptcy filing in the Kanye West song “So Appalled.” Not satisfied with telling his 2 million Twitter followers of his disgust, Hammer took it to the mic with a song “Better Run Run.” The song, was beloved by Hammer loyalists and others, not so much. At the end of the day, we hated to see two elder statesmen of Hip-Hop in conflict even though Jay publicly stated he did no wrong. Regardless…bad for the culture and bad for the the business. Nicki Minaj / Lil Kim Once upon a time, Queen Latifah had a song called “U.N.I.T.Y.” These days, such notions are nonexistent as it relates to Kim and Nicki and their ongoing feud. The beginnings of this lyrical warfare is unclear and we’ll reserve our opinions. Still, with Nicki rocketing into the galaxy and Kim still being the Queen B to most, these two need to cut it out. Lets get the Barbz and the Beez together and start a sustained movement in the Female Hip-Hop realm. Soulja Boy / Fabolous This beef is rotten, but it was a definite sign of the times. Soulja Boy is well-known for his digital swag, but has recently been taking more street approach to his style. Fabolous, on the other hand, is known for his Street Fam, but has been all the rage on Twitter. So after Soulja Boy was allegedly caught with Kat Stacks in a coke-sniffing fiasco (emphasis on allegedly), Fab started a trending topic called “#stupidboyswag.” SB, in an effort to maintain his dignity lashed back! He eventually challenged Fab – a highly proficient lyricist – to a rap battle. As the temperature continued to rise, these guys just got on NYC radio and ended it as wackly as it started. Young Jeezy / Rick Ross What happened? Both of these Trap Stars are seemingly cut from the same cloth. Maybe not, but still. They have done songs together. They have similar content. They are both on Def Jam Records. They also have a lot of love for drug kingpin Big Meech. The only issue is that Jeezy has been cool with Meech for a much longer period than Meech who reinvigorated the incarcerated Meech in the song “BMF (Blowin’ Money Fast).” A war of words has continued in song and in various interviews. We love the music of both guys. Can’t we all just get along?
(AllHipHop News) A radio station in Budapest, Hungary is under investigation for playing a record by rap artist Ice-T, in violation of tough new media laws. The Media Authority in Budapest fired off an eight-page letter to executives at Tilos Radio on December 13th, for playing the “It’s On” by Ice-T on September 2nd, in what has been labeled “Ice-T Gate.”Although the controversial media laws officially went into effect today (January 1st), The Media Authority has been monitoring stations in the country for months.Executives at Tilos published and released the letter to media outlets in Hungary, which included an English transcription of Ice-T’s lyrics, in addition to a Hungarian version. Tilos also issued a response to the Media Authorities accusations, claiming among other things, that Hungarians cannot understand the English, nor the slang in the song “It’s On,” which was originally featured on Ice’s 1993 album Home Invasion. Additionally, Tilos published a pie chart showing that less than 4% of their listeners were under 18, while 74% were between the ages of 18 and 35. Ice-T, who tested the limits of American media in 1992 with the controversial song “Cop Killer,” responded to the whole issue via his official Twitter page. “I love it! The world still fears me,” Ice-T tweeted late last night (December 31st).
Ed Lover is one funny hombre, but this 2010 Come On Son Wrap Up is great! Ed Lover is a fool for this!
Hi! Remember me? The New Year wouldnt be the new year without kicking off with some fresh beef from the old year. Foxy Brown went off on AllHipHop.com for what was deemed as bad information. But, there is some major pushback from the people that Foxy has been calling all sorts of names. AllHipHop just got caught in the middle of some internal mess. Here is the official statement from the people that gave the original info about the Christmas Massacre. “Platinum Camp and Nightlife productions strongly dispute the claims being made by Foxy Brown. The whole world already knew there would be a new OFFICIAL Foxy track coming out by christmas because foxy herself announced it every day via her twitter page. The song “U aint ruff enough” previously titled “Christmas Massacre” was supposed to be released on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, we recently got word the record was somehow hacked from a supposedly “secure” server, and then leaked to various sources around the net. The same situation is currently happening with grammy award winning Eminem and Kanye west’s new material, and is sadly the nature of today’s industry. We fully understand where foxy would be upset with something getting leaked, an artist of her stature certainly deserves better, and we are as disappointed and angry as she is. By the same token, we had a previous release date fully sanctioned by Foxy brown for Dec 24 2010 for the OFFICIAL ,NOT LEAKED, version of “u ain’t ruff enuff” (The leaked version is NOT the finished production). Her objections today are the first time we have been contacted in any manner about any doubts by her about the aforementioned official release. We at platinum Camp and Nightlife feel like this is coming totally out of the blue, especially after all the time and money that we have invested in the Foxy Brown rebirth project . We only wish she would have contacted us face to face so these issues could have been handled privately and not played out in the press. We, of course, still have Foxy’s best interest at heart and would like to resolve this matter as soon as possible, but we will also vigorously defend ourselves and our reputations from any unwarranted attacks.” There is a whole nother conversation about that that is not fit to print on AHH. Maybe I will put it on illseed.com. FOXY BROWN WE LOVE YOU! AND KEEPING YOU IN THE MEDIA! They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!
