Still, as the only boy amongst two sisters, the light-eyed MC admits to being spoiled. “We’d clean the house every Sunday but my only job was to take out the trash,” says Dolla. As a five year-old Dolla sat on his parent’s bed with his elder sister, Divinity, as their father took his own life. Dolla addressed his father’s death and his own mortality in one of his songs, “Rainy Nights”: “Papa died at 25 so he must have been great, they say the good die young, I guess I’m on my way.” Overcoming the obstacles of life Dolla remained persistent on his musical journey Forming a group called Da Razkalz Cru and eventually going solounder The Gang Entertainment/ Konvict Muzik/Jive while also modeling for Sean John clothing. Upon his return to LA to complete his debut album tragedy took place once more. On May 18th 2009, Dolla’s life was cut short by a cowardly act. Peedi Crakk Ready to Release New Music, Ends Jay-Z Beef

(AllHipHop News) Two months removed from a year plus in jail on parole violation, former Roc-a-Fella emcee Peedi Crakk is placing the finishing touches on his debut album for Amalgam Digital and putting his Jay-Z beef to rest. Previously, Peedi admitted that he was unfocused and blew his label budget while briefly under Jay-Z’s Def Jam, causing his then-named Prince of the Roc debut to be shelved indefinitely. Now, the Philadelphia emcee claims he has newfound appreciation for his art and freedom. “The best s**t is to be back in the booth. I was feigning for that booth. [For] 19 months I did,” Peedi Peedi told AllHipHop.com. “And if I can get this bread, the shows don’t hurt. I’m just leaking s**t all on the Internet. Anyone want to check my s**t, just go online [and type in] P. Crakk [and] Amalgam Digital.” In 2008, Peedi was highly outspoken about Jay-Z, who he held personally responsible for not getting his debut released on Def Jam. Before his prison sentence stemming from a 2002 gun charge, Crakk went as far as to leak several diss records against Jay (“Sweet Dreams,” “I’m Sorry) which depicted the Brooklyn mogul as a liar and a thief. Also, Peedi began work on a mixtape entitled Camel Face Hunting Season. Today, Peedi Crakk looks at those records as clarifying a past grievance instead of an attempt to initiate a battle. And according to him, the issues will not be rehashed are exploited on any new songs. “I never came at Jay. I just always set the record straight for people who didn’t really know exactly what happened,” he reasoned. “Once you air it, leave it alone and where it’s at. That’s the past [and] we’re [now] going this way.” Several new freestyles and songs from Peedi Crakk can be heard at www.amalgamdigital.com. At press time, his upcoming debut does not have a release date.    video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Hip-Hop Rumors: What Happened With Bow Wow & Chris Brown? Kia Shine To Be Sued AGAIN?

DISCLAIMER:   All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on. THE DAILY TWO SENSE! Lil Kim looking good! Don’t forget the earlier rumors, including the knock out of Lil B. MORE ON TRIPLE C’S… Like I said yesterday, Triple C’s is not breaking up. Actually, it is the opposite. They are reportedly working on a new album called “Color, Cut, Clarity” and it should be hitting the stores in the Fall, right after Ross’ Teflon Don. The albums don’t cost Ross a lot, says Mikey T The Movie Star and therefore they are successful even if they don’t sell a zillion copies. Anyway, there is more about this, but i don’t think you would be interested. Ross is basically building his own empire. KIA SHINE….ABOUT TO GET SUED AGAIN! You may have read in the news that Kia Shine is getting sued by DJ Absolut for something regarding a Drake song – lalala…I basically read the headline. But, I heard somebody else is about to sue him now. There is a company called Camouflage Management LLC and they say THEY basically should be getting a piece of whatever Kia Shine makes because they have a signed agreement, as of June 5, 2009. They say they have never been paid from him and wand those ends. They are suing him too for lack of payment. They feel strongly that they have paid for him and his entire career. LIL BOW WOW & CHRIS BROWN Before I hit ya with the report, Chris Brown has reportedly been denied entry into the UK for the beating he put on Rihanna. Jeez. And here is the lil bitty rumor report from ContactMusic.com: R&B singer CHRIS BROWN and rapper BOW WOW were left red-faced during a recent night out in New York City, after they failed to crash a star-studded party hosted by rap crew CASH MONEY. The Kiss Kiss hitmaker and the hip-hop star reportedly crashed a listening party for rapper Drake’s new album at MSR studios, hosted by bosses at his incarcerated mentor Lil Wayne’s record label on Wednesday (02Jun10). The pair were reportedly turned away because they weren’t on the invited guest list – but it wasn’t the only rejection the duo faced that night. According to the New York Post, the pals were turned away again by security at another hotspot, celebrity nightclub SL – because their entourage was too big. A source says, “They showed up with a huge entourage all trying to get in, but they were totally denied at the door.” GAME REVEALS HIS REAL FEELINGS ABOUT 2 LIVE CREW Well, tell us how you really feel, Game. EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY People are really buggin’ out as you full well know, but here is an interesting story..I think? Yeah, this is a fail. A 23 year old is friends with a 17 year old. The man is 23 and the girl is 17. The 23-year-old man decides its OK to send his private parts to the girl and others via his cell phone. Well, somehow the Dad of the 17 year old gets it and decides he’s going to get this bastard. That dad was William Atwood Sr., 45, and he is hoppin’ mad, by golly wow! He lured Justin Moore over to his house and trapped him. He got the dude to strip down to his boxers and tried him up and started to tazer him! The father complained about p### being sent to his daughter but the cops were too slow. He got to Moore first. The crazy thing is it could have gotten worse. When he lured Moore over to the house, Atwood, Sr. was holding a shotgun. Atwood claim the 23 year old came to his house uninvited and he had to take care of business. Man, they found Moore naked and tazed up! Atwood had over a dozen guns in that house. Moore was lucky to have a fail so light. Dad faces a whole bunch of felonies now. SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END A man that has five kids should be one proud papa, right? Well, not with this Australian man. This dude pimped his own daughter. He also was convicted of molesting her. The 58-year-old man, who is lucky his kid is 16 or they would reveal his identity, blamed his own sexual past for the abuse of his own daughter. For some reason, he thought it was OK that he pimp is daughter to his own friends saying that she wanted to make some quick cash. According to theage.com, the father made a video recording of his daughter having sex with his friend and then said: “I think I’ll have go.” The saddest part of this is that the father’s kid is mildly disabled mentally. The father blamed his misdeeds on the fact that he was abused as a child by his own mother. Wait…it gets a lil worse…dude only got 13 years in jail and is eligible for parole after nine. Shout out to Charles from Korea for the link. VADO SPEAKS! This Vado dude is hot in these evil streets. Mikey T The Movie Star got at him and this is what transpired. ILLSEED’S QUICKIES I heard Lil Boosie said this, “Man, I’m not sweating going to jail cuz I know when you go you make more money when you come out.” I’m hearing that Jay-Z blacked out on Rick Ross’ Teflon Don album. I guess people are coming back after the 50 Cent dust is all settled and wiped away. I’m hearing somebody named Jody Breeze is trying to make his comeback in order. Seriously, J. Breeze was cool so we need to give him a fair shake. Will Maino jump into this Drake / Lil Kim / Nicki Ninaj thing? For everybody except Lil’ Kim, I hope not. Cap-One aka Richie Rich is […]

TOP 5 DEAD OR ALIVE: Ice Cube

Ice Cube has been on other rapper’s Top 5 Dead or Alive lists more than enough times. It was time to get a list from the man himself. Like many legends, Cube has maintained a career in rap that is equal parts successful emcee and uncompromising rebel. From NWA to his solo status to Hollywood to the green pastures of independence, he’s that dude. Icon. He was brief, but he didn’t have to say detail much when he told AllHipHop the colossal names in his Top 5. “Chuck D (of Public Enemy). He’s my No 1, because his music was life changing. His music wasn’t just rapping. It was more than that. You gotta say KRS-One for those same reasons. Ice-T, for those same reasons. And then you got to think about a somebody like a Rakim. And, uh..I’ll throw myself in there. (Laughs)” Here is the video:

Review: The Roots Third Annual Picnic

Thousands of fans turned out to support third annual Roots Picnic yesterday (June 5th) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A number of top acts performed in support of The Roots’ annual, all-day festival, including The Roots, John Legend, Wu-Tang Clan, Jay Electronica, Money Making Jam Boys, Nneka, Vampire Weekend, Peedi Crakk and others. Here’s a quick recap of The Roots’ annual picnic. A variety of artists performed, including Res. That was interesting, because she tweeted Questlove about wanting to perform and he replied that they booked the concert a year in advance. Nneka looked very into her performance. She’s so pretty it was hard to turn away from her while she was singing. One of her last songs was titled “Heartbeat”??? It’s rumored that Nas is going to spit a verse on it. Rumor or fact? Dunno…. The Money Making Jam Boys consists of Dice Raw, Black Thought, P### and Truck North. They rocked the crowd with the assistance of Peedi Crakk. Jay Electronica rocked the crowd with some beats courtesy of J. Dilla. He also did his original tracks and ended each song with an acapella. Jay Electronica got the crowdy hype and he went it..literally. Jazzy Jeff Djing & Questlove on the drums. This was a dope set. More old school hip hop and they showed all the youngins their favorite songs really are sampled from older songs. Jazzy went in! The Roots, didn’t do that many originals well at least not the ones I thought they would. Black Thought was good. Their live band was killer, which included a guy walking around the stage getting down with a tuba. The Roots brought out John Legend, who is featured on their new album How I Got Over. He did a few original tunes too. The Roots and Method Man, Raekwon and Ghostface – Killer set. Hearing The Roots play the Wu-Tang’s original tracks was nothing short of amazing. The highlight of the show was when Method Man jumped in the crowd. He was literally trying to stand on two people’s hands like a cheerleader and almost lost his life. Ghostface gave a moving, humorous tribute to the Philadelphia sports teams, including The Flyers, who are playing in this year’s Stanley Cup. The Clipse – Their performance was mad delayed and their sound wasn’t on point. Pusha’s mic was all off. They did a few jams especially my favorites from Hell Hath No Fury, like “Keys Open Doors” and “Ride Around Shining.” People were were definitely messing with it. But before their last song, Vampire Weekend started on the main stage. Wo it was a battle and The Clipse got a little mad. Vampire Weekend – I love his voice. Was a big fan before, so it’s nice to hear they sound the same live. The Very Best, with radioclit and Esau Mwaya came out and did Electro and Afropop. They had fly dancers, and the crowd was jammin despite not knowing the words. Seriously NO one knew what they were saying, but everyone was so with it! My favorite is their song “Julia Julia” which they just did a video for a few weeks ago.   Mayer Hawthorne from Detroit, came out with a big band (full suits) and did a swing twist on songs and original s**t. The crowd couldn’t stop the music from taking over their limbs and it was also a good twist in the lineup, because the crowd was diverse so the older heads got to dance in a way that didn’t include pelvic thrust or jumping up and down. video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Exclusive: Sara Stokes Files Lawsuit Against T-Pain Over Jennifer Hudson Song

(AllHipHop News) T-Pain has been hit with a lawsuit by songwriter/former MTV reality star Sara Stokes, who claims the producer cheated her out of royalties for song they co-authored for R&B singer Jennifer Hudson. Stokes rose to fame after being featured on Making The Band 2 and as a member of Diddy’s group Da Band, which released one album, Too Hot For TV (2003). Saramony Entertainment filed the lawsuit on Friday (June 4th) in Missouri Eastern District Court, claiming she produced and co-wrote two songs with T-Pain, including Hudson’s tune “What’s Wrong (Go Away),” from the Grammy Award winning album Jennifer Hudson.  Stokes, claims that although Hudson’s album went Gold, she has received no producer, songwriter or performer credits for her role in created “What’s Wrong (Go Away).”“The exploitation of musicians is a story as old as the music and recording industry itself,” Stokes’ lawyer Eric F. Kayira said in the lawsuit. “The creative process in producing a duet is often times an effort borne equally from two artists/writers. Harmonically and interdependently, the energies of such artists form a single expression that neither can support by themselves. Unfortunately, too often in today’s popular music culture, the fame and notoriety of some performers may eclipse the considerable contributions and integrity of developing artists/writers, often at the expense of the legal and moral rights of lesser known co-authors.”Stokes claims that her label at the time, Quan Entertainment, entered into a deal with Nappy Boy Productions, with purpose of providing Stokes with two songs. The tracks were recorded at T-Pain’s studio, which according to the lawsuit, is in the basement of his sprawling house in Atlanta, Georgia, according to the lawsuit.Stokes claims that she originally co-authored and recorded the song with T-Pain and aired their version on WHHL 104.1 FM in Missouri. ‘‘Stokes claims she was shocked to hear that T-Pain, born Faheem Rasheed Najm, made deals with third parties to allow Hudson to re-record the song without her original vocals. “Only slight deviations in the lyrics exist between Stokes’ version and the released version, whereas the whole musical composition is the exact same on which Stokes collaborated with Najm,” according to Stokes lawyer. Stokes is seeking to be officially named as co-author of “What’s Wrong (Go Away), an accounting of all income derived from the sale of the song and attorney’s fees and costs. Also named in the legal filing is T-Pain’s Nappy Boy Publishing and Universal Music-Z Tunes.
