ROMEO CARRIES THE NO LIMIT TORCH FOR THE NEXT GENERATION WHILEP.MILLER GETS HONORED BY VH1 FOR CREATOR OF SOUTHERN HIP HOP(AllHipHop News) Rapper Lil Romeo has revealed he plans to carry the No Limit torch in order to make a new generation better. Ive seen family and friends turn on each other behind money. Most African American athletes and entertainers make money for a few years but lose it due to lack of education and financial literacy. And Ive been groomed to break that cycle, said Romeo, the eldest son of rap mogul/No Limit founder Master P. Master P. will be celebrated tonight (June 7th) during the 2010 Hip-Hop Honors, with performances by former No Limit Records artists Romeo, Silkk the Shocker, Mystikal, along with Trina, Gucci Mane, And Kid Capri. My dad gave me four things that most parents dont give their kids: education, time, love, and shared experiences whether good or bad, Romeo told AllHipHop.com. Ive seen life through my fathers eyes, thats why Im focused and prepared. I know its my time to take over in this entertainment business but more importantly, I realize that I must continue my education at USC.According to Romeo, his father taught him that people will love you when youre up and hate you when youre down. The music business has changed. If you want to make it in this game, you have to do viral marketing. The internet is a new form of revenue but truly connecting to your fans will give you longevity. I was honored to perform on my dads behalf at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors Award Show. He has overcome so many obstacles in his life and accomplished so much throughout his career while still managing to help others and make a true difference in so many lives. Although I witnessed my fathers actions firsthand throughout my entire life, I was still blown away as I watched the presentation of his story in creating southern Hip Hop. Romeo said that his fathers ultimate goal was to see him to better in life, and said that Master P. was the best hustler in the game.I know thats where I get my work ethic from but what I plan to do different is to be the smartest hustler in the game. He taught me that fame come and go but knowledge lasts for a lifetime. And thanks to him, I have a billion dollars worth of knowledge. Most entertainers are running a race, but the Miller dynasty is running a marathon to success, Romeo declared. Romeo also addressed recent news reports revealing his was removed from the USC basketball team, due to a shoulder injury. I invested two years of my life to chase my hoop dreams while passing up opportunities to be in movies like Twilight, Transformers, and Disturbia due to NCAA regulations. Even though we won the PAC 10 Championship and made history with USC, the following year our team was placed on probation due to an incident that took place years before I played for USC. This probation would setback the basketball program for at least a decade in rebuilding process.Added to this was a shoulder injury, which doctors said would take at least a year to heal. They also told the rapper that if he re-injured his shoulder, he would no longer be able to play with it again. Therefore, I recognized that realistically it was time for me to switch my focus from being a student-athlete to being a college graduate. And now I can achieve my degree in three years instead of four. In addition, Im free to pursue my entertainment career opportunities at the same time without breaking any NCAA rules and have the best of both worlds, Romeo said.

Editor’s note: The views expressed inside this editorial DO NOT and ARE NOT reflective of the views of AllHipHop.com.The way Black people think in general is messed up. Both men and women need to change their way of thinking. Its hard to trust a Black woman [sometimes] because a lot of Black womens mind frame is that the man gotta do everything for her? he gotta pay for this, he gotta pay for that, and if it aint about money then a lot of them aint f###### with him. If thats what youre here for then I dont want to be with you. Most single Black women feel like they dont want to settle for less. Their standards are too high right now. They have to understand that successful Black men are kind of extinct. Were important. Its hard to find us so Black women have to bow down and let it be known that they gotta start working hard; they gotta start cooking and being down for they man more. They cant just be running around with their head up in the air and passing all of us. I have a brother that dates a White woman and he always be f###### with me about it saying, Yall gotta go through all that s### [but] my White woman is fine. She dont give me no problems, she do whatever I say and yall gotta do all that arguing and fighting and worry about all this other s###. My girl is Black and White. I guess the half White in her is where she still cooks and do all the s### that I say, so we make it. She just takes care of me and I like that. She dont be begging and I dont gotta buy her all this crazy ass s###. And shes a smart girl too. She graduated from Columbia [University] and I like that about her so its cool. Ive dated girls that will buy a $3,000 bag and dont know how to pay it off on their credit cards. They walk around in these Louis Vuittons and red bottoms but theyre riding around in raggedy cars, so its just getting your priorities right. White women treat they man like a king and Black women feel like they aint gotta do that s###. Black women need to stand by their man more. From Illmatic and Doggystyle to Get Rich or Die Trying and College Dropout, the classic debut has become somewhat of a prerequisite for a new artist aspiring for greatness. While there are certainly exceptions, the majority of hip hops premier acts made sterling first impressions. As if crafting a timeless LP wasnt challenging enough, Torontos own 23 year-old wunderkind Drake, has a whole other set of standards to live up to. While what Nas, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Kanye West accomplished was unquestionably extraordinary, none of them did it with a critically acclaimed mixtape, two Grammy nominations, a year of Billboard chart domination and all of the pressures that come with these accolades weighing on them. With appearances and production from the highest echelon of rap and r&b stars in tow, Drake attempts to meet the expectations that tower over him with his official debut album, Thank Me Later. The album begins with the warm ivories of the Alicia Keys-featured Fireworks. Though somber for an introduction, Fireworks picks up right where So Far Gones The Calm left off, with a snapshot of Drakes current mindset. Money just changed everything. I wonder how life without it would go/ from the concrete, who knew that a flower would grow/looking down from the top and its crowded below/ my 15 minutes started and hour ago. Proclaims a clear-headed Drizzy. His signature introspective musings continue on album stand-out The Resistance, where he details his troubles maintaining relationships with people who he doesnt see as frequently as he once did and whom he promised he would never change. While in-house producer 40 is responsible for several of the albums highlights, the trunk-rattling double-time drums of the Kanye West-produced Show Me a Good Time is a welcome departure from the albums peaceful and reflective beginnings; as is the variation of Drakes delivery, which can become a little monotonous on other offerings. As the album progresses, Heartbreak Drake goes toe-to-toe with musical titans including Jay-Z, T.I., Young Jeezy, The Dream and of course Lil Wayne. While most artists run the risk of losing their identity on such a feature-heavy project, Drake not only holds his own but is in most cases the driving force behind these collaborations, forcing the featured artist to adapt to his sound, a theme carried over from So Far Gone. The album is not without its flaws, but finding them requires a keen ear. Sure Swizz Beatz chorus on Fancy is a little bit annoying, Timbalands production on Thank Me Now is somewhat underwhelming and the straightforward r&b offerings dont quite stack up to those on So Far Gone, but despite these minor hiccups there are no true lows to be found on Thank Me Later. Unlike many debut albums from potential future legends, this is not listeners first time hearing a full-length collection of songs from Drizzy. This subtracts from the surprise factor and handicaps Drake somewhat as people are already familiar with his signature sound. It is impossible to listen to Thank Me Later without comparing it to Drakes genre-altering 2009 mixtape So Far Gone. But Drake knows that and rather then competing against his brilliant achievements he chooses to expand on them by creating the perfect companion LP. Thanks. With all the talk, opinions of Drake’s album, do you agree with this assessment of the album? QuestionsView Results
(AllHipHop News) New Yorks DJ Absolut is suing rapper Kia Shine in court over Drakes breakout hit single Best I Ever Had.According to a lawsuit filed in Queens Supreme Court, DJ Absolut is suing Kia Shine, claiming he made at least $1 million dollars off of the single without sharing the proceeds. The lawsuit stems from a Lil Wayne song produced by Kia Shine and Lil Wayne called Do It For The Boy, which was on DJ Absoluts The Leak mixtape. According to Kia Shine, he gave a copy of the single to Wayne in March of 2008. He noticed similarities in Drakes cadence, lyrics and delivery and was eventually awarded a 25% stake in Best I Ever Had.Kia Shine also earned a BMI Award for his role in creating the contested single, although Drake denied reports that the Memphis rapper had anything to do with creating Best I Ever Had.According to the lawsuit, Kia Shine originally agreed to pay DJ Absolut 20% of the publishing from the original track, but Kia Shine and his legal team allegedly cut a deal with Drakes team directly for the 25%. “Kia Shine needs to uphold his end of the agreement,” DJ Absoluts lawyer, Brian Levy told The New York Daily News. “It wasn’t my client’s desire to resort to legal action to get him to do it. We’ve reached out to him, but he has not chosen to respond.”

Hes in the oil business somehow and he says some crazy mess! IS THIS WHY LIL KIM IS UPSET? Well, it seems that Lil Kim is upset that she has been swagger jacked by Nicki Minaj. But some people industry and fans are speculating that this is the reason: D-Roc was Biggies best friend and eventually Kims manager/muscle/boo, especially during the Hot 97 situation. Hes now in some sort of managerial position with Diddys new team. Speaking of TEAM, I think Busta is now a part of the Supreme Team, which includes Jay-Elec, Nicki Minaj, Rick RAWSE lol. Anyway moving right along. HOUSTON: WEVE GOT A PROBLEM Lil Kim and Keys (the enemy of Nicki Minaj) linked up down in B-more. UH OH! This could be Nickis worst nightmare. EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY Eventually the police are going to get tired and they are going to kill you when they do. That seemed to be the case of p### star turned samurai turned accused murderer. Stephen Clancy Hill had cops at bay by sitting on the very edge of a 50 ft. high cliff yesterday. Dude allegedly killed one person and tried to kill several other people with a samurai sword and was on the run. Well, the cops out there in LA dont play that. They were in full riot gear for eight full hours. Hill said he was going to die rather than turn himself in. He had some help. After they exhausted all options, they shot him with a tazer and possibly a beanbag gun .and dude fell off the cliff to his death. The cops say they used non-lethal force, but it turns lethal if you are on a CLIFF!!! Stephen Driver Clancy Hill may be dead, but his family may be paid if they take this one legally. It all started so simply. He was a p### actor and was fired. He was already homeless, but living in the p#### studio. He went all out. There are a lot of sword jokes, but Ill leave it alone. The BP Oil Spill is already one of the worst man made disaster in the history of humans, with an estimated 5,000 barrels (210,000 gallons) of oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico. That is a mere estimate though, as other expert suggest BP could have as much as 800,000 to a million gallons going into the seas and oceans. The oil spill has already traveled to other areas and currents are expected to take it into the Atlantic Ocean. The natural gas and oil will wreak untold harm on the environment and human beings as well. AllHipHop talked to a few Hip-Hop artists (including Baby of Cash Money, Asher Roth and DJ Kid Capri) and got their take on the crisis and we offer a live feed of the spill (courtesy of Congress and PBS.org) Here is a live feed of the oil gusher beneath the sea.
(AllHipHop News) Another star-studded edition of Hot 97s annual Summer Jam was completed last night (June 6), and featured standout performances from new and veteran artists alike. The show took place in a front of a sold-out crowd of over 70,000 people at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Several stars vied for showstopper accolades. Trey Songz enamored his female base with highly sexually suggestive theatrics to his hits from Ready, Trey Day, and I Gotta Make It. Nicki Minaj was the most prominent artist of evening, performing 4 different sets to accommodate all of her recent high-profile guest appearances with Ludacris, Usher, and her own Young Money camp. DJ Khaled was widely praised backstage as having the performance of the night. Billed for the event as DJ Khaled and Friends, the energetic Miami native stormed the stage with an estimated 100 plus entourage, and brought out Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Barrington Levy, CamRon, and Vado to huge ovations. Although Juelz Santana also completed a set, the rumored Dipset Reunion did not take place. Drake was on hand to perform selections from So Far Gone and his upcoming Thank Me Later debut. The Toronto emcee took time out to acknowledge incarcerated label mate Lil Wayne, and got down on his knees to thank his fans whove helped bring him from his humble acting beginnings to music superstardom. The show was rounded out with additional performances by Reflection Eternal, Maino, Fabolous, Funk Master Flex, T-Pain, Estelle, Fabolous, Gucci Mane, and Waka Flocka.

This my baby right here man, Juvenile told AllHipHop.com of his new project. Its that up tempo street s###. The first single is for the women, Drop that Ass. You know its summer time. The last album, I was trying to get to the fellas, so I want to make sure I keep it balanced.Despite being busted for smoking weed in February 2010, while recording material for Beast Mode, Juvenile included an ode to marijuana on Beast Mode. I got a song on there called Lalalala is kind of like our weed record and we kinda turn that on when we bout to get our smoke on, Juvenile revealed to AllHipHop.com. I got another song on there called Nasty Girl, and thats gonna be one of those real, freaky, freaky, freaky records man, its crazy man (laughs).”While the album will have no features, Juvenile is looking forward to finding features for the remixes on his upcoming project. You know for me I like to get artist on the remix. Drop that Ass is out right now and Im searching for cats on the remix, but I would rather have an artist on the remixes instead of on the album because I want people to hear it on the radio. Thats not giving the fans you, but you have fans that want to see that, so its just better when you do it as a remix.Juvenile also gave some positive hints about the chances of a Hot Boys reunion.I really want to do that. You know if it were left up to Juvie we would do it right now man, But you cant do no Hot Boys songs without everyone present and thats the thing you got to have everyone present to make it work.Speaking on his contact with other Hot Boys members, specifically Lil Wayne who is currently incarcerated on Rikers Island in New York, Juvenile said. I just need the information so I can write him. Ive been need to get an address so I can write him.
Filmmaker/Hip-Hop Honors executive producer Fab 5 Freddy recently spoke to AllHipHop.com about the 2010 VH1 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South, special, which pays homage to southern rap music. As soon as word broke that the show would pay tribute to the South, it was also revealed that a number of artists from the ultra-successful region were unhappy with their treatment at the hands of VH1. Miami pioneer Luke Campbell was the first to tell AllHipHop.com that he was very displeased with not being recognized as an entrepreneur, while Houstons living legend Scarface revealed he was unhappy with VH1 labeling the region Dirty in the shows title. In addition to some bad press, a few rappers were vocal about not attending the show. Heavyweights like Young Jeezy and Plies will all be absent, although Fab 5 told AllHipHop.com that the majority of the South has supported the tribute. Rappers like Bun B., Trick Daddy, David Banner, Master P., Jermaine Dupri, Rick Ross, Mystikal, Trina, Gucci Mane, Game and a number of others will be featured during the 2010 VH1 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South.Whether you agree or disagree, VH1 does deserve props for snagging Fab 5 Freddy and Nelson George, two very noted filmmakers/producers who have helped paved the way for Hip-Hop on the TV and in movies. This years show will air on Monday at 9:00 PM EST on VH1. Check out Fab Five Freddys take on executive producing the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors:Check out various artists’ take on the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
(AllHipHop News) Police in Hawaii are investigating a car crash involving a vehicle registered to superstar rapper Kanye West, who is working on his new album on the island. The bizarre incident began around 4:00 AM when neighbors were awakened to a tremendous crash and found that a Porsche Panamera had crashed through the garage of a house across the street early Saturday morning. Although West is recording the album in Hawaii, sources stated that he was traveling at the time of the crash. Sources told local TV station KITV that Wests cousin had permission to drive the vehicle. Witness said they saw three men run from the car, which caused serious damage to the front of the multi-million dollar house, which is undergoing renovations. "I walked over to see if anyone was dead or people in the car because I could smell liquids and I could hear them draining and no one was there," said neighbor, Chris Cooper.According to police, the car was reported stolen just hours after it crashed into the garage.
Cottos Wins Title in 3rd Weight Class Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 KOs) made a successful comeback last night at Yankee Stadium by finishing off a hobbled Yuri Foreman (28-1, 8 KOs) with a patented left hook body shot in the 9th round. Early on, a disciplined Cotto had little problems with Foremans darting lateral movement. The Puerto Rican star consistently threw the jab with conviction and visibly stunned Foreman in the opening 2 rounds. Foremans backpedaling prevented Cotto from getting set to fire power punches, but he still controlled the 3rd and 4th rounds and proved to be the harder puncher. Sensing he was behind, Foreman uncharacteristically came out in rounds 4 and 5 with guns blazing. The studying Rabbi blasted Cotto with sharp straight rights, which Cotto took well. Foremans speed was the difference in the round, as the challenger was having difficulty picking off the shots and being able to counter before the champion darted out of position. After a tactical 6th round, Cotto began pressing Foreman more in the 7th. The champion slipped in a corner due to his knee giving out, and for the rest of the round Foreman was strafed with left hooks and uppercuts. Foremans attempts to trade left him worst off, as Cotto was able to walk through his shots and land the more damaging combinations. Foreman was clearly slowing down in the 8th, presenting himself a more manageable target for Cottos trademark body attack. Disaster hit in the round when Foremans knee gave out again and he painfully wobbled on his feet to continue. With no movement Foremans only chance at victory was lost. Cotto pounced on him with debilitating hooks and uppercuts. Foreman began winning the crowd with his valiant attempt to trade, but he was visibly being broken down and the end seemed moments away. Suddenly, a bloody towel flew in the ring which normally signals a corner retirement. Referee Arthur Mercante, Jr looked towards the champion, who expressed his desire to fight on. After several minutes, Mercante was able to clear the ring and ordered the fight to continue, a move that may start an exciting, but dangerous new precedent in the sport. The 9th proved to be the end of Yuri Foremans reign as champion. His corner urged him to slip and turn his body to blunt Cottos power, but this was not Foremans style. The coup de grace came courtesy of a thudding left hook to Foremans right side, which caused him to fall back into the ropes before slowly crumpling to the canvas. Mercante didnt bother to give a count, and could be heard praising Foreman for his effort as Cotto celebrated his 4th overall world title. Cotto clearly felt redeemed by his effort and addressed his critics that felt his career was effectively ended by the punishing fight last November with Manny Pacquiao. I proved this night, everybody who said Miguel Cotto was finished, everybody failed, Cotto told HBOs Max Kellerman. Foreman was applauded by the 20,000 plus fans in attendance after explaining why he refused to quit once he suffered the bad knee injury. Im not quitting Im a world champion, Foreman explained. I didnt want to stop. I wanted to continue. Where does Cotto go from here? Following the fight, welterweight Andre Berto called him out on Twitter for a fight. Cottos promoter Bob Arum has expressed the desire to pit him against Pacquiao and Margarito in rematches to the only losses of his career. In addition, there are possible exciting 154 matchups against Paul Williams and Alfredo Angulo. This was a good albeit safe comeback fight for Cotto. He remained very composed and worked well behind his jab, evidence of his work with new trainer Emmanuel Steward. But to throw him back in with Pacquiao or Margarito would be unwise. Its foolish to think hes worn off the effects of those losses, particularly the Pacquiao beating, in just one fight. Ideally, he should pick up another belt against another 154 pounder such as Cory Spinks, and then seek out a big bout against either Andre Berto, Paul Williams, or Alfredo Angulo. All three would be action fights that would be winnable, especially under Steward. Whatever he decides, its safe to say that rumors of Miguel Cottos demise as an elite fighter were very premature. QuestionsView Results On the undercard, Freddie Roach fighter Vanes Martirosyan scored an easy 10 round unanimous decision over Joe Greene. Mayweather to Take 2 Years Off? It was thought for the last few weeks that representatives for Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao were initiating preliminary talks for a possible showdown this November. But a recent statement by Floyd not only puts that fight again in doubt, but also Mayweathers future as an active fighter. Floyd Mayweather conducted an interview after participating in a Make a Wish Foundation event, where he met with 17 year old Armando Carral who suffers from Hodgkins disease. Floyd Mayweather is taking a year off or a couple of years off from boxing. I dont really know what the future holds for him, Mayweather said while sitting next to Carral, who expressed that he wants to see his favorite fighter take on Pacquiao next. As I said, I want to take a year off from boxing. Im taking a couple years off away from the sport of boxing. I want to devote my time to my boxing gym. Many in the press are already speculating that the reason for Mayweathers abrupt comments were due to him being upset with Manny Pacquiao receiving Fighter of the Decade honors from the Boxing Writers Association of America on Friday (June 5). Top Rank and Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum, learning from his wild media comments in February that helped sink the first Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations, was more reserved in his response to the Mayweather interview. “I’m telling you now, I’ve had long conversations with him, Manny Pacquiao’s first goal is to get Mayweather in the ring and this whole drug-testing nonsense .
