(AllHipHop News) Jailed rap mogul Suge Knight is facing a $3.3 million tax bill from California and U.S. federal authorities. Knight, who is currently incarcerated in Los Angeles County Jail facing a murder charge over an alleged hit-and-run incident, is now facing two tax liens, according to documents. Agents for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) accuse the former Death Row Records boss, 52, of owing a total of $3.3 million; $3.28 million in federal taxes, and $44,600 to the state of California. His alleged debts relate to the years 1997 to 2000 and from 2011 to 2013. Knight, a leading figure in the gangsta rap movement of the 1990s, is set to stand trial in the coming months over the alleged 2015 hit-and-run incident in a Los Angeles car park. He is accused of running down Terry Carter and Cle ‘Bone’ Sloan in an LA parking lot after an alleged altercation near the set of the N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton.” Carter was killed but Sloan survived his injuries. If convicted of murder Knight faces life in prison. The hip-hop mogul, real name, Marion Knight Jr., has also been indicted over alleged threats made against the director of the biopic, F. Gary Gray. Knight has pleaded not guilty to a felony count of making death threats against the filmmaker.

Executives at Paramount Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have acquired the rights to the hip-hop star’s 2017 book “The Autobiography of Gucci Mane,” according to Variety. It is believed studio bosses plan to work with the same producers who made 2002 film “8 Mile,” which was based heavily on rapper Eminem’s own story. Alabama-born Gucci, real name Radric Davis, wrote most of the autobiography while serving a lengthy prison sentence, with the tome telling of his difficult childhood, drug addiction as well as career highs and lows. He was sentenced in August 2014, to serve three years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to a federal firearms charge. The judge also sentenced him to serve three years of supervised release with extra limitations on his travel. In January, the rapper took to Twitter to share that he hoped he would be able to direct a film based on his life. While a director for the new project is yet to be announced, Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins will produce. But that doesn’t appear to have upset plans to continue with the show, since producers have announced there would be a season two, but there was no mention about Walk’s involvement. (AllHipHop News) Rapper Kendrick Lamar immediately volunteered his services to oversee the soundtrack for Marvel blockbuster “Black Panther” after he was granted a special preview by director Ryan Coogler. The “Creed” filmmaker reveals he had been planning to work with Kendrick for some time, and when he initially approached the Grammy winner last spring about contributing to the “Black Panther” project, Coogler only envisioned the hip-hop star offering up a few tunes. However, allowing the musician to view early cuts of the movie was enough to convince Kendrick to be more heavily involved, taking on the role of producer and co-curator, as his excitement for the superhero movie grew. “At first, he was just going to do a few songs for the film,” Ryan explained to NPR.org. “Then he came in and watched quite a bit of the movie, and the next thing I know, they were booking a studio and they were going at it.” Together with his Top Dawg Entertainment label boss, Anthony ‘Top Dawg’ Tiffith, and producer Soundwave, Kendrick recruited artists including The Weeknd, Khalid, SZA, Future, Schoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, and James Blake to work on the soundtrack while he was on tour, and the finished product was perfect for Coogler’s movie, which already had an instrumental score by composer Ludwig Goransson. “Hats off to him (Kendrick) and his production team – they made some really great songs that we got placed in there,” Ryan shared. “And hats off to Soundwave, who’s producing, and Ludwig, who was able to manipulate the score to incorporate some of those songs and weave them in and out of the orchestral stuff that he was already doing. I can’t wait for people to hear the music on that album, man.” Fans can enjoy the Black Panther soundtrack since it was released yesterday, just before the movie releases next week, starring Chadwick Boseman as the titular superhero.
