Kanye West Suing Ohio Over Rejected Signatures In Fight To Get Birthday Party On Ballot

(AllHipHop News) Call him relentless, enduring, or just plain spoiled. Whatever it is that is motivating Kanye West to sue the state of Ohio for not putting him on their upcoming ballot is just the fuel to re-energize his supporter base. According to Billboard, Yeezy is suing Ohio’s election chief after his campaign was told by the Secretary of State Frank LaRose, a Republican, that he did not qualify as an Independent candidate, and thus could not appear on the ballot as a presidential candidate in November. The lawsuit was prompted by the state election chief rejection of 15,000 signatures and other paperwork that did not line up squarely. The submissions from the Birthday Party were mostly considered fraudulent. However, lawyers for the rapper-turned-politician argue that LaRose had a responsibility to accept not just Ye, but anyone who wanted to run, as long as “there is no protest filed against the petition and it doesn’t violate Ohio law.” Ohio stands by the decision to deny him space on the ballot. The Buckeye State is not the only state that rejected West. Other states that will not feature the multi-hyphenate are as follows: Missouri, Wyoming, Illinois, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Montana.

Tekashi 6ix9ine Plays On His Infamy With “Tattle Tales”

(AllHipHop News) After releasing official three singles since his release from prison, the Brooklyn rapper with the rainbow hair is giving his fans a full album. YOU KNEW IT WAS COMING! But probably did not expect it to be such an anticipated release. Well, it is. People can’t wait for the rapper, once dubbed a snitch for ratting on his former manager and other members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods to drop his sophomore album, Tattle Tales. The name, and almost every public stunt he has performed since getting off house arrest a few weeks ago, thumbs its nose at the public for bashing him for being Hip-Hop’s most unapologetic Sammy the Bull. The album is believed to feature his last three singles, “GOOBA,” “Ya Ya,” and “Trollz” featuring his big sister in the biz, Nicki Minaj. In November of 2018, the “GUMMO” rapper was arrested on federal racketeering charges. At first, he pleaded guilty but later decided to cooperate with the government for less time. When he flipped, he agreed to give up information and testify against his gang members associated with his management. His testimony led to guilty convictions. Tekashi 6ix9ine was sentenced to two years, and got out to home confinement earlier in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was rumored while he was “away” that he secured a record deal for $10,000,000. People wondered if the culture would rock with him … in the topsy turvy anything goes rap biz of today … not only do they rock with him … but they may make him number one on September 4th when Tattle Talez drops.

R. Kelly Assaulted In Prison Over Prison’s Lockdown Status

(AllHipHop News) Reports have recently emerged that reveal disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly is not safe in prison. While incarcerated, his celebrity status could not prevent him from being “attacked” inside of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. According to reports, the accused pedophile was sitting in his bed when he was attacked by one of the 6,100 inmates serving time in the jail. An unnamed inmate entered into his cell to start a fight. The man was upset because he believed that the presence of R. Kelly’s many supporters protesting outside of the jail has caused the jail to go under lockdown a couple of times. This p##### him off and he took that frustration out by beating up the “I Believe I Can Fly” millionaire. Doctors were on-site and looked over the singer, and he has no injuries … outside of his broken ego. An official communications representative for the Federal Bureau of Prisons did not release a statement claiming that they are not able to release details about “individual inmate’s conditions of confinement or medical status due to privacy and safety reasons.”

Producer Claims His Track Was Stolen To Created Kendrick Lamar’s Song “Loyalty”

(AllHipHop News) Top Dawg’s top dog Kendrick Lamar is being sued, but it does not seem to be his fault. According to court documents, producers for his 2018 Grammy-award winning song for best rap/sung performance, which featured automatic hit-maker Rihanna, “Loyalty,” did not fully credit everyone responsible for its creation. Musician Terrance Hayes is suing Lamar and producers, Josef Leimberg and Terrance Martin, claiming that he had worked for years with at least one of them and that a different unfinished version of the song was used to create the hit. Hayes maintains that both songs even share the same name, and yet he has received no credit at all as a writer or producer. “The infringing song copies substantial qualitative and quantitative portions of the subject track, including the same song title, similar subject matter, substantially similar note combinations, and structures, melodies, themes, rhythm, and kick and snare patterns,” stated Hayes in his lawsuit. Hayes further states that his original (and copyrighted) version was recorded in 2011 with Leimberg. The two had been working together for almost a decade and the music that they produced was housed on Leimberg’s computer in Leimberg’s studio. It was at this same studio that he met Martin but never worked with him. This adds to his utter shock when both Leimberg and Martin received all the glory that is attached to having a hit song (i.e. the awards, the publishing, and the royalties). “Both the subject track and the infringing song use the same chord progressions, melodies, and other aspects throughout, and neither song features any changes in the musical elements as the recordings progress toward their conclusions,” Hayes said. “The musical arrangements of both the infringing song and the subject track are identical,” he continued to explain. “Employing the same instruments played with the same timbre. In both recordings, the drums enter at exactly the same time.” Hayes is seeking “unspecified damages and a permanent injunction preventing the defendants from further infringement” in his lawsuit. He also wants the bag, asking to receive all profits from the song and any publishing perks that might have come along with writing a mega song. No word from the “Damn!” artist or Top Dawg, but it is clear in the dirty music game … when it comes to that big bank there hardly ever any loyalty.

Wiz Khalifa Launches New Food Delivery Business In Major U.S. Cities

(AllHipHop News) For some people, the coronavirus has left them paralyzed. For others, not so much. Wiz Khalifa has a new business birthed out of the COVID-19 pandemic. He just announced that he will be engaged in a partnership with Nextbite, the virtual restaurant brand curator, to launch his delivery-only restaurant chain HotBox by Wiz. Once opened, Wiz’s business will be able to take orders in cities like Pittsburgh (his hometown), Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, Denver, Washington, D.C., Indianapolis, Houston, and New York, offering some of his own favorite dishes. According to the menu, Wiz is selling Taylor Gang turkey burgers, chocolate brownies, burnt brisket ends, and Mac & Yellow mac and cheese. As successful as Wiz Khalifa has been as a musician, he has also made waves as a businessman. Wiz has been considered one of Forbes Cash Kings since 2010, he’s partnered with Esports team Pittsburgh Knights and his Taylor Gang brand has birthed a strong product and ancillary cannabis empire.

Pandemic Ruins Roddy Ricch’s Performance At The MTV Video Music Awards

(AllHipHop News) Nipsey Hussle’s protégé Roddy Ricch has made a statement on his Instagram Live revealing he will no longer making his highly anticipated performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. “My team and I did everything in our power to make this work, due to COVID compliance issues at the last minute we had to call off the performance,” Roddy Ricch said. The Grammy Award-winning artist will not join the other performers, depriving fans of a live rendition of “Ballin,” “The Box,” or “Rock Star” with DaBaby. The producers have gone to great lengths to create a great live show during the pandemic, using all of New York City as the backdrop. “My team and I are safe and everyone’s health is a main priority, as well as giving a quality performance,” Roddy Ricch said. “I appreciate MTV for the opportunity to perform and I hope I can see y’all next year.” J Balvin will not perform either. Unfortunately, the Colombian artist revealed a few weeks back that he has contracted COVID-19 in a video, spoken in his native tongue. Like Roddy Ricch, fans were looking forward to hearing him kill one or more of his hit songs: “Loco Contigo” with DJ Snake and Tyga, “La Cancion” with Bad Bunny or “RITMO (Bad Boys for Life)” with the Black Eyed Peas. The MTV Video Music Awards will take place at the Brooklyn Barclays Center on Sunday, August 30th at 8 pm EST.

Big Sean Announces Release Date For Highly Anticipated Album “Detroit 2”

(AllHipHop News) It has been eight years since the world first heard Big Sean’s epic mixtape release, Detroit. The thematic title gave tribute to his hometown and featured appearances from French Montana (on “Mula”), J. Cole, Juicy J, Kendrick Lamar, King Chip, Royce da 5’9″, and Tyga. This joint further cemented him as one of the most word-crafty emcees of his generation. Detroit 2, Big Sean’s fifth studio album release, is poised to be just as phenomenal when it drops on September 4th. Fans have been waiting with bated breath since it was rumored to drop in correlation with his now postponed 2020 Coachella appearance. Still, with little than the September 4th release date revealed, the question that fans have is simple: can it keep up with the fire releases that he has dropped over his celebrated career? That’s a tall order. His 2011 debut album, Finally Famous was certified platinum, helping the next release Hall Of Fame (back in 2013) debut at #1 on the Billboard Rap chart. Big Sean’s next record, I Decided, became his second consecutive album to debut at #1, showing the world his amazing crossover appeal. In 2015, with the release of Dark Sky also went platinum and his Twenty88 collab with then-girlfriend Jhené Aiko was also a huge success. While the music will be released on Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music/ Def Jam, the world is waiting for his trip back to “Motown.” The project will also be accompanied by Detroit 2 themed merchandise. We can’t wait.

Kid Chaos and JC Have a Classic During “Rookies Vs. Vets” Battle

Every battle rapper has one goal, one destination that they are moving toward and that is greatness. They all want to leave a legacy. Have their names carry the same reverence as a Party Arty, be a part of folklore like that time that a young JAY-Z allegedly rolled up on LL Cool ready to prove himself in a battle and the “Rock the Bells” icon is rumored to have laughed … who doesn’t want to be one of SMACK’s gunners? Lyricists and personalities, wordsmiths, and freestylers enter into the Proving Grounds or the Crucible, eyeing the spot of those top tier vets that have paved the way in the sport and industry of battle rap.  John John da Don is probably one of the best examples of someone who has come in and clawed his way to the top. From a different perspective, Tay Roc, who was basically breast-fed from the culture of battle rap’s nip, also has a Cinderfella story.  He was a boy rapper from a small town outside of Baltimore, who fell in love with rap music and pushed through all boundaries to be considered one of the best rappers ever. And it is not hyperbole to state that JJDD and the Cave Gang General are the first folks to set up camp in the Badlands, a space only a handful of battler rappers can cite as their residence. DNA, Tsu Surf, K-Shine, Brizz Rawsteen, Daylyt, and the likes of JC also live there. This is the campsite literally for those on the edge of Mt. Rushmore and this weekend, on The Ultimate Rap League’s “Rookie vs. Vets” battle on Caffeine, Kid Chaos with his classic battle with the Kid from Pontiac might have jump over a whole class to secure his space close to the area next to those people in the running for those very limited Mount Rushmore placements. Well, what exactly is this mysterious place called the Badlands? The Badlands is a national park, less than 30 minutes to the actual Mount Rushmore National Memorial originally sculpted by artist Gutzon Borglum.  The mountain sculpture is considered a national treasure as according to some standards it figures four of America’s most dynamic U.S. presidents— George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. People use the term Mount Rushmore to identify four of the best in any given field. Now… Kid Chaos may not have won his battle against a genius and very present J.C. (who he has repeatedly said is one of his heroes in the sport), but he showed up leaving many to believe the battle was debatable.  The “Rookies vs. Vets” battle was a refresher after Steams and Reeper Rell stunk up the pace with a six-part battle that had chokes in all but one. Both Smack and Eric Beasley threw them a lifeline informing the public that the two only had seven days to prepare. They still were rotten eggs.  Chaos and J.C. performed superbly — with bars the required a good ear and an even better intellect. The tense back and forth forced the vet to concede that young lions are coming up with their teeth sharpened and their roar on ten. An almost win against someone as gifted as J.C. means something. J.C. is arguably one of the best lyricists in battle rap culture — often spoken in the same conversation as the undisputed Mount Rushmore O.G. Loaded Lux.  It may be too soon to dub him the next truth, but how refreshing it is to see someone hungry, disciplined, and humble. He might not live with the vets, but if he says on this track he will be in their space as quickly as someone like a Nu Jerzey Twork or Geechi Gotti. Saturday’s epic performance earned this new kid the right to hang out with the rest, even if he can’t move in with this elite brotherhood of rap excellence. We are not the only ones saying this:

Drake Gives Huge Boost To GoFundMe For Superstar Battle Rapper Nu Jerzey Twork

(AllHipHop News) Superstar battle rapper Nu Jerzey Twork was in a horrible car accident almost a week ago that could have cost him his life. He took to his Instagram to post a selfie from his hospital bed that showed his black and blue bruises, busted lip, shut closed eye and gauze wrapped around his bruised head.  Nu Jerzey Twork’s family has a GoFundMe set up for the top tier battle rapper and NWX member. Drake, a fan of both battle rap and Hip-Hop has contributed an undisclosed amount. The “God’s Plan” rapper posted a screenshot on his Instagram of one of their exchanges. He captioned the image with the following, “Y’all Know How Much I F##k With Drizzy , This Was HUGE For Me , THANK YOU MY BROTHER @champagnepapi My Come Back Will Be Epic ” The page is simple with Nu Jerzey Twork’s name in the header and an image of him with bruised and shut-eye. The copy says, “Nu Jerzey Twork was involved in a heinous accident which resulted in him having multiple surgies. Anything you can donate will go towards his medical bills and support for his family. We appreciate you all. God bless” Jaz the Rapper, his battle rap fairy godmother, was one of the first to respond, crying out in her comment, “ Alhumdulilah.” Nu Jerzey Twork’s mother, Alisha Shelman, took to Facebook to share a message regarding her son. “I was so hesitant to tell my son’s story but I must give God His Gloryyy!!! On Friday morning I got a call my son was in a car accident. I didn’t find out until later my son’s car had flipped multiple times and he was ejected from the car. Cracked skull, broken bones in his face, eye socket, broken vertebrae and lost lots of blood,” Shelman revealed.  “When I arrived to the hospital I didn’t know what to expect knowing what I was already told. Looking at all the blood my son was still laying in at the hospital. I saw pass [sic] the blood and saw my son was not on anyone’s breathing machine, no life support, wasn’t crippled, no internal bleeding, every part of his body had some form of scar but he had not lost one limb. Bruised but he’s here in his right mind. My son is Alive!!!!” At the time of publishing, the team has raised a little under $20,000 and the prayer is for more to come from fans of battle rap and lovers of Hip-Hop culture.

Muslims Boycott Adidas Over Kanye West’s New Sneaker

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West has said over and over again that he is a genius, not just in music but also in business. Despite how brilliant he seems to be, he made one of the most tone-deaf business moves in the latest drop of his new Yeezy sneaker. West has recently dropped kicks that bear the name of two Islamic angels of judgment and death. The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Israfil is a shoe Adidas already has on its way to market, and the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Asriel that should be released in September/ October. Israfil is the Islamic counterpart to the Judeo-Christian angel Raphael, and ushers in the Day of Judgment which is considered Qiyamah. He is also considered the angel of music. While the angel is not mentioned in the Quran, repeatedly the Holy Scripture speaks about an unnamed trumpet-angel that tradition connects with him. Asriel, though spelled differently in the Islamic tradition (Azrael), is the angel of death. Both angels are considered archangels, along with Jibrael and Mikeal. The backlash has been swift and intense. Social media has started pushing for the be renamed shoes, an apology be issued, and for Adidas to set up a process to evaluate product and marketing campaigns for cultural, gender-based, and racial nuances. A petition has been started on Change.org, pushing for the shoes to be taken off the market. “It has came to the attention of the Global Muslim community that Adidas has allowed the production of a shoe that is named after an archangel in Islam. This is highly offensive to the Muslim community,” the petition reads. “Until further notice, we request all Muslims to boycott adidas products, cease all sale of adidas products by any Muslim owned 3rd party retail shops until adidas ceases the production of this commodity.” “We demand a formal apology and for Adidas to donate all proceeds of this shoe to an appropriate charity. Profiting off hate speech is unforgivable and unacceptable. We look forward to hearing Adidas apology and steps to remedy this fiasco. Thank you for your support.” Kanye has not addressed the Muslim community but has affirmed his faith. Romans 8:31 “If God is for us, who can be against us?!”

Hot 97 fires Paddy Duke After 26 Years For His Role In Yusef Hawkins’ Murder

(AllHipHop News) When Yusef Hawkins, a 16-year-old teen from East New York, was murdered in 1989, the death nearly tore Brooklyn apart, igniting racial tensions between the African American and Italian American community that still exists today.  No one could have suspected, that one of the persons involved with his race-based killing has been hiding in plain sight — not in politics, education, or in the police force but in Hip-Hop. According to a new HBO documentary called Storm Over Brooklyn, Pasquale Raucci aka Paddy Duke, Hot 97’s Commercial Production Director, allegedly was with the wicked perpetrators who killed young, Hawkins. On August 23, 1989, Hawkins and three friends, Luther Sylvester, Troy Banner, and Claude Stanford, went to Bensonhurst to check out a car that one of them was interested in purchasing $900.  The young white teens, a mob of over 10 people, attacked the quartet believing that one of these Black boys had been dating a neighborhood girl, a storyline used in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever as an Easter egged tribute to this horribly bigoted sociology.  As they surrounded the boys with baseball bats and vile racial hate, the boys anticipated getting jumped. No one expected that Hawkins would be shot two times in his chest and once in the heart on Bay Ridge and 20th Avenues on that Wednesday night 31 years ago. According to the New York Daily News, the police detained ten young Italian men who were being accused of the crimes against Hawkins, naming Keith Mondello as the instigator and Joey Fama as the shooter. The pistol that was used is now gone.  One of the boys, who was arraigned in the state supreme court with Mondello, is Paddy Duke. The Daily News printed a picture in 1990, with his face. The documentary sheds light on the crime, but also shows how Paddy Duke, who was able to reinvent himself and create a career at a radio station that many consider just as influential in the proliferation of Hip-Hop as the major artists that they play on air.  How did he build a career on the coattails of people that years earlier he was invested in abusing? Raucci was a producer and on-air DJ for the Angie Martinez show from December 1994 to January 2003. From 2003 until now, he served as the Commercial Production Director at Hot 97. Lead personality Ebro spoke about the documentary, earlier in the summer but did not mention Paddy Dukes’ connection. Perhaps, he did not make the connection. Ironically, fans have called on Hot 97 to not only speak about Yusef Hawkins’ murder but also comment on their employee — pushing for him to make a statement. Hot 97 did respond. He no longer works there.  “After watching HBO’s Storm over Brooklyn, HOT97 was shocked and took swift action. Paddy Duke is no longer employed by HOT97. The march for social justice continues,” the station said via Twitter.

Lil Mosey And Crew Busted With Arsenal Of Weapons

(AllHipHop News) This weekend, teen rap sensation Lil Mosey was arrested for riding around with three illegal firearms that apparently belonged to no one in the car. Mosey, whose real name is Lathan Moses Stanley Echols, hit the big time only three years ago with the single called the “Pull Up.” Swiftly thrown into the limelight, he has since dropped out of high school and assumed the lifestyle of the rich rap star. Mosey, his bodyguard/ driver and friends are caught up with weapons…weapons that not one of them tried to claim. It was noted that Lil Mosey is a teen, right? The 18-year-old “Blueberry Faygo” rapper was pulled over in Burbank, early Sunday morning (around 1 am PST) by police officers, who noticed that the 2016 Cadillac Escalade he was riding in had no plates on it. During the inspection, the officers eyed an empty holster on the bodyguard/driver’s lap. They also found within the car three loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistols, a gun on the juvenile’s person, one in the glove box and another in the center console. The cops further searched the vehicle and recovered four credit cards in the bodyguard/ driver’s backpack and not one of them belonged to anyone in the car. Everyone was detained. Mosey was able to post bail at $35,000. He is expected, according to the outlet, to return to court in September.

St.. Louis Hip-Hop Producer Charged In Connection To Sweetie Pie’s Murder Plot

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop has a strange connection to the OWN reality series “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” and the 2016 murder of the show’s star, Andre Montgomery. “Sweetie Pie’s” was a successful restaurant empire in St. Louis founded by Robbie Montgomery, a former Ikette with legendary singer Tina Turner. Oprah fell in love with her vivacious personality and interesting family dynamic. O offered the family a reality series on OWN in 2011. But things fell apart when Robbie sued her son James Timothy Norman in 2016, for trying to pimp her franchise name and stealing money. The two settled in 2017. Robbie opened a new restaurant earlier this year. Andre, Robbie’s beloved grandson, was murdered around the time of the fallout between mother and son. According to Fox News, Andre Montgomery’s murder was set up by his uncle, and fellow co-star. It is alleged that Norman hired an exotic dancer to set him up and now the U.S. Attorney’s office is suggesting that the reason was for-profit and is connected to one of the Midwest’s biggest rap stars. Norman is being charged with murder-for-hire, conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. He did not act alone but was allegedly supported by Hip-Hop producer turned insurance agent, Waiel Rebhi Yaghnam. Before entering into the insurance world, Yaghnam was one of the producers for the multi-platinum album, Nellyville with the three-time Grammy Award-winning rapper, Nelly. Yaghnam also was a collaborator with Basement Beats, and though not credited by name, is responsible partially for Country Grammar. Yaghnam, who is also called “Wally,” acted as the insurance broker for Norman and the pair orchestrated an illegal purchase of insurance policies on Montgomery totaling $450,000. Yaghnam allegedly did so by falsifying statements on the life insurance applications for Andre Montgomery and misstated the nephew’s net worth, income, medical history, employment, and family background. Starting in 2014, Yaghnam and Norman began their murderous plot by submitting three fake applications on Andre Montgomery’s life. From these efforts, Norman was able to secure a $200,000 policy, a $200,000 accidental death rider, and another $50,000 rider that would pay out to Norman if Montgomery died before he turned 28-years-old, or ten years after his 18th birthday. Tragically, Andre Montgomery was gunned down in March of 2016 when he was just 21-years-old.

The Top Five Album Releases from Battle Rap’s Biggest Stars

There used to be a notion floating around Hip-Hop that inferred that battle rappers could not make music. Based off a few failures to translate from cipher to soundtrack, that narrative was pushed heavily in the late 90s and early 2000s by artists like Canibus and Jin who failed to put out commercially successful projects. However, this new generation of competition lyricists has learned from the mistakes of others. Big time artists like Eminem, Joe Budden, Meek Mill, Drake, and Tory Lanez have all connected the origins of their rap careers to low-level rhyme competitions based on the age-old rites of passage of battling. Now, emcees in battle culture are more polished, the sport is more structured and commercially viable. The artists have more access to technology to work on making music and are studying the game. The divide between making dope music and verbally knocking someone’s head off is not as wide. This is evident by the huge fan base that these new artists have and their ability to connect via social media in ways that those “keeping it real battlers” from back on your block never could. Check out the following projects that have dropped this year that are proof that battle rappers make dope music and are not just competitive on a league but can also bang alongside any joint on your favorite radio station or playlist. Tsu Surf- MSYKM (Raw Bunch Records) Probably one of battle rap’s biggest luminaries, this project is an East Coast answer to the universal anthem of street-s##t. With all the charisma of Drake and the hood-social consciousness of Tupac, MSYKM pushes Surf further than his mixtape with Mozzy on Empire (Blood Cuzzins) and his hit 2019 album, Seven 25. His lead single “5’7” has inspired women to look at themselves, reconciling their personal pain with the assurance that a Black man sees them and honors them. D.I. Da HennyMan- Write Where I Belong (Thousand Days Entertainment) Shout out to the trappers! D.I. Da HennyMan takes the musicality and tone of Maybach Music’s head honcho Rick Ross with his signature Maryland cool to produce a solid project reflective of a grown-ass man taking his craft and life to the next level. Ruin Your Day- RYD Radio, Vol. 4 (Ruin Your Day Entertainment) Videographer and businessman Avocado has taken his battle rap platform, Ruin Your Day, and produced a compilation mixtape with a few of the most popular guests from the show. The influencer has tapped artists from every part of the country to offer a richly diverse project with not only range but heart. The mixtape opens with Ryda and features heavy hitters like Hollow Da Don, Nu Jerzey Twork, Rum Nitty, Geechi Gotti, Bill Collector, MyVerse, Bigg K, Quban, Illmac, E. Hart, D.I. Da Henny Man, Lush One, and B Dot the God. He also gives shine to artists like Eddy I., Baby Franco, Death Dealers Anonymous, DJ Akoza, Reverse Live, ESEM, Bezzelz, Young Shame, Young Claybo, Chase More, Frak, Tony Madness, Spiff, and Fredo Algebra. Shotgun Suge- Fat Papi Tape 2 (World Monopoly) Shotgun Suge makes music for the car, for the club and for your favorite street playlists. The Newark rapper has a sound that hovers over the popular drill movement but has a unique groove threaded throughout the project that reminds you that he has a story originated from the streets that have molded him into the “G” that he is. Trust … all eight songs are blaze. Aye Verb- If I Had A Heart (Indie) If I Had A Heart is a great introduction to the Island God as a recording artist. Within the album, Aye Verb masters storytelling in the way that legacy artists like Scarface and Andre 3000 did in a generation of lyricism long forgotten. His song, “Lining Straight” featuring Reason is intoxicating. His voice melts into the seductive orchestration like he is more invested in making quality music over something hot but will soon be disposable. The album, like the Tinman from the Wizard of Oz, shows why men lose the sensitivity of their hearts. BTW way… Aide Ade… she needs a project quick. Highlighting battle rappers because they make good music is nothing new. Most rappers from the 70s up until the early 2000s built their careers on competitive emceeing. Battlers Rakim and Big Daddy Kane birthed Nas and Jay-Z, who in turn fathered mad rappers styles in the culture. There would be no lanes to make money on a large commercial level if the Wu-Tang Clan did not cross over and all of them started battling each other from different parts of Staten Island (just catch Method Man’s battle with Math Hoffa). Now, the world is all buzzing because monthly, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have utilized this battle rap format, the back and forth of good music, to lift the energy that these new battlers have made hot. The culture is widening and getting smaller at the same time. The divide between commercial and underground is closing with social media being the means to get dope music out. And now … those gatekeepers who kept real lyricists out of the game are nervous. The true emcees and creatives in the culture got the formula and are staking their claim right next to those selected by suits to run the game.

Rapper Da Breadman Busted In Huge Drug Ring Take Down

(AllHipHop News) The Feds have just tapped Texas rapper Da Breadman and eight others in a huge drug ring takedown. Da Breadman told us in his 2018 song that he was on some “Other S##t,” but who knew he was really about that life? Uhm… the gov’ment. The nine people were snagged on charges that alleged that they intentionally came together to distribute meth, cocaine and/ or oxycodone and hydrocodone in an elaborate system of drug dealing.  At the center of the charges is the 42-year-old emcee, whose birth name is Jermaine West.   According to the press release from the Department of Justice, Houston natives West and Jonathan Rawlins and Bobby Pharms were charged in the meth and cocaine conspiracy.  However, the indictment suggests that West was even deeper in the drug game than just selling hard.  He also sold prescription opioids with others: Tersha French, Ronald Lucas, and Antonia Vega, Cynthia Ngwaba, Leon Covin, and Toni Maria Nalintya. During 2018, when he was dropping his biggest career joints like “Dirty Money,” “Big Bags,” and “Super Hard,” the indictment alleges that he was selling drugs near Lil Flip and Lil Keke’s alma mater, Worthing High School in the 3rd Ward. The indictment named the Ennis Street Pharmacy and Barker Cypress Pharmacy as the sources of some of the pills that he and his associates sold.  The FBI investigated these crimes through the Houston Anti-Gang Center with the assistance of the Houston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Drug Enforcement Administration.  Trial Attorney Devon Helfmeyer with the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Corley are prosecuting the case.

Hip-Hop’s Pastor Hezekiah Walker’s “Every Praise” Hits A New Milestone

(AllHipHop News) They say seven is a number of divine completion. Seven days in a week. They say that there are seven deadly sins, it’s the number that people look to for the Lord’s validation and is mentioned 490 times in the Bible. So it makes sense that it has taken about seven years, but one of the most popular gospel songs to hit the modern era “Every Praise,” has just gone platinum. Hip-Hop’s pastor, Bishop Hezekiah Walker of the Love Fellowship Church, in Brooklyn performed the hit track on his album Azusa: The Next Generation in 2013. Written by J. David Bratton, the song became an infectious soundtrack — played on the radio and sang in everyone’s church. Infectious is a great descriptor considering that the song stayed on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart for 67 weeks and was named the Gospel Song of the Decade by the same publication at the end of 2019. One of the most extraordinary stories surrounding the miraculous power of this song was about a child who was abducted. During the kidnapping, as he was sitting in the back of the car, the young boy sang the song nonstop for three hours. The men who snatched the boy kept telling him to “shut up,” but he would not. Finally, they dropped him off after nothing being able to take it any longer. “Look what came in the mail, I’m so grateful for this. All I can say is ”It keeps happening” Specials thanks to my squad LFC there’s nobody like you guys. Thanks to @rcainspiration @phillionaire1911 @stanleyabrown and one of my best friends and Co-Producer @donaldlawrence Special thanks to @brattonjdavid for writing the song. To julesjuda_camp the best MD in the country and my band you continue to keep that LFC sound relevant nobody like you guys. To @flipsideagency thanks for being my #1 fan and @loxentertainmentagency for my #2 fan. To radio and all of the people who supported from around the world thank you. Let’s continue to remember Every Praise belongs to God.” Congrats to Hip-Hop’s Pastor.

Chance the Rapper Demands Tory Lanez Be Held Accountable For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

(AllHipHop News) Chance the Rapper believes that people should have Megan Thee Stallion’s back. He took to Twitter to blow the whistle of justice on her behalf: Megan Thee Stallion was shot in her feet after a party in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles on July 12th. For weeks, Megan remained silent about the details of that evening. But on August 20th, Meg took to Twitter to publicly accuse Tory Lanez of the shooting. So far Tory, born Daystar Peterson, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon in his vehicle. Chance the Rapper chimed in on the drama and he believes Tory should be hit with more serious charges. “I hope Meg really gets justice for what Tory did to her. And that we can all learn from this, how near and constant and serious, the threat of lethal violence and abuse is for every Black woman.” The “No Problem” rapper has come a long way in how he understands the plight of Black women in the world, particularly in the shadows of Black men who in their own right, carry their own burdens of oppression. Last year, Chance the Rapper made waves when he defended working with R. Kelly despite allegations of his being a sexual predator. In an interview on Cassius, he made a statement that spoke to his own awareness of colorism, gender-based bias, rock-star idolatry, and his own baggage packed from the dirty laundry of outfits that come with being oppressed as a Black man. “Maybe I didn’t care because I didn’t value the accusers’ stories because they were Black,” He admits to his own surprise. “Because usually like n**gas that get in trouble for sh*t like this on their magnitude of celebrity is light-skinned women or white ones. That’s when it’s like a big story.” His position is to stand with Megan and now many other male celebrities are standing with Megan as well. “Meg I admire your courage and applaud you for speaking up. We must Support Black Women, Protect Black Women, and Believe Black Women,” actor Michael B. Jordan said. 21 Savage been sent his prayers up, showing support in the best big brother way ever. “Wish I could give megan a hug praying for you,” 21 Savage said shortly after the news broke.
