Newark’s mayor Ras Baraka is teaming with community leaders, artists, local vendors, and others to take a step toward ending the bloodshed in their town with the 4th Annual “24 Hours Of Peace” Festival. The outdoor cultural event’s goal is to address violence through the performing arts.

Peace and unity will be promoted through music, poetry, dance, film, and spoken word. The hope is to give Newark a 24-hour “Time Out” from physical and verbal violence in order to give citizens a glimpse of a violence free community.

Newark’s 4th annual “24 Hours Of Peace” Festival takes place August 29-30. For more information follow 24HOP on Twitter @24HrsofPeace and visit 24hoursofpeace.wordpress.com.
