Pharrell: I’m Releasing A New Solo Album, But I Won’t Rap On It

PHARRELL SAYS HE WILL NOT RAP ON HIS NEW ALBUM, TRIES TO GET CLIPSE TO DO DOUBLE ALBUM

(AllHipHop News) It seems not too long ago that Pharrell was rapping “When I finger f*ck the track it caress the gift” on his 2006 Gangsta Grillz mixtape with DJ Drama. Seven years later and Pharrell is working on a new solo album with one change: he won’t be rapping.

In an interview with Complex, the man with the producer’s golden touch revealed that he is indeed working on a follow up to his 2006 debut solo album In My Mind, however age has halted his desire to rap:

No rapping. It’s focused. Like I told you, that’s the difference between 30 and 40. ’Cause I was 30, now I’m 40—and I’m not rapping.

Pharrell has also been up to his usual music curation moves behind the scenes with Pusha T recently telling BBC Radio One’s Zane Lowe about Skateboard P’s idea of The Clipse doing a Speakerboxx/Love Below-type album. Quoting Pharrell, Pusha explained Pharrell’s idea:

‘I think we should do a two sided [album]’. You do what you do, he do what he do, and that’s what we do.’

There is no tentative release date for Pharrell’s as-of-yet untitled sophomore solo album.
