Chance The Rapper & New Edition To Receive Special Honors At 2017 BET Awards

THE CHICAGO EMCEE & THE LEGENDARY R&B GROUP WILL BE PRAISED AT THE JUNE 25TH CEREMONY

(AllHipHop News) Chance The Rapper was already up for four nominations at the 2017 BET Awards.

The Coloring Book creator will definitely leave Los Angeles with at least one trophy.

Black Entertainment Television will honor Chance with the Humanitarian Award at the June 25 ceremony.

“It’s an immense honor & I’m inspired to do so much more after receiving this. Thank you [BET CEO Debra Lee] I won’t let you down,” tweeted Chance on Tuesday.

The musician born Chancelor Bennett has been very active in preventing street violence, helping the homeless, and promoting education in his hometown of Chicago.

New Edition will also be praised with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards.

The legendary 80’s/90’s R&B group was introduced to a new generation of fans thanks to the well-received The New Edition Story miniseries which aired on BET earlier this year.

NE members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill will join icons such as Whitney Houston, James Brown, Diana Ross, Prince, and Smokey Robinson as Lifetime Achievement Award recipients.

BET adds Chance The Rapper to a list of Humanitarian Award winners that consists of entertainers like Muhammad Ali, Harry Belafonte, Alicia Keys, Dwyane Wade, and Jesse Williams.
