(AllHipHop News) The self-described Chief of Chicago is likely to be free within the next 6-7 months.

In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, presently incarcerated rapper Bump J talked about his expected release date.

“No later than January,” said Bump when asked when he is scheduled to come home.

In 2009, Bump J (born Terrence Boykin) pled guilty to firearm and bank robbery charges. The “Move Around” performer was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, but he was expected to only serve 7 years from the date of conviction.

During the phone conversation, Bump also revealed he spent a lot of his time at Ohio’s FCI Elkton writing lyrics and reading nonfiction books such as Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich.

He is now looking to offer something uplifting for his hometown when he gets out.

“It’s a lot going on. It’s always been a lot going on. I want to have a positive impact on my city against the negativity that’s going on,” stated Bump. “I want to use my power and influence for that good and motivate others to stick together.”

Dropping brand new music is another priority for Bump J upon his release. According to the Chitown rhymer, labels are currently expressing interest in him.

Bump’s “Top This” collaborator Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music imprint could be the first option for getting the signature.

He suggested, “I have several offers on the table already. But Kanye is a good friend of mine, so I’m always going to give him the first dibs.”

Bump J made it clear he tries to stay in tune with what is happening in Hip Hop culture and the attention placed on social issues. Fans of the artist that gave them the Chicagorilla mixtape should expect a renewed Bump J both musically and mentally.

“I’m better than I was when I came in. As far as me as a man, I’m more focused now. And I’m ready to turn up,” declared Bump.
