Freddie Gray’s Mother Has Attemped Suicide

THE MOTHER OF THE BALTIMORE MAN WHO DIED DUE TO INJURIES SUSTAINED WHILE IN POLICE CUSTODY HAS TRIED TO TAKE HER OWN LIFE.

Freddie Gray’s mother, Gloria Darden, has attempted suicide, according to USA Today. The mother of the slain 25-year-old suffered minor wounds during the attempt, but what she did in efforts to kill herself have not been disclosed. No surgeries or stitches were necessary.

A psychiatric evaluation was performed Thursday (Oct. 22), a day after the attempt (Oct. 21).

Gray suffered fatal injuries to his neck and spine while in police custody after an April 12th arrest for having a switchblade. After being hospitalized for a week, he died due to his injuries. His death caused an uproar in the city of Baltimore and sparked riots and protests.

His family was awarded $6.4 million in a civil settlement in September.
