(AllHipHop News) Today (January 19), the Washington, D.C.-based non-profit Hip-Hop Caucus has announced the launching of HipHopHelpHaiti.org, aimed at educating the Hip-Hop community on how to become involved in help the hurting nation.

The Hip-Hop Caucus officially kicks off their efforts this evening via a national conference call with Congressional Black Caucus Chair Barbara Lee, David Banner, MC Lyte, members of President Obama’s cabinet and Haitian activists.

HipHopHelpHaiti.org will function as a mass network of information for users to be informed on food/clothing drives, and legit donating organizations such as Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti’s Earthquake Relief Fund.

In addition to daily updates, members of the site will be able to interact and set up their own local relief efforts.

As a member of a global phenomenon that transcends social and cultural barriers, Hip-Hop Caucus CEO Reverend Lennox Yearwood, Jr believes the Hip-Hop community will be instrumental in the rebuilding of Haiti.

“We are all deeply saddened by the destruction and tragic deaths that have resulted from the earthquake in Haiti,” Yearwood told AllHipHop.com in a prepared statement. “The Hip-Hop Caucus is committed to encouraging the public to support the Haitian people by donating to the relief effort. Our goal with the national conference call, and launch of ‘HipHopHelpHaiti.org’, is to pull together an infrastructure for the Hip-Hop community to stay supportive, engaged, and organized around what will be a long struggle for the Haitian people to recover.”

At press time, various relief organizations are working 24/7 to provide water, food, and shelter to over one million Haitian victims of the 7.0 earthquake last Tuesday.
