Iggy Azalea Accused Of Being Homophobic, Forced To Cancel Pittsburgh Performance

MEMBERS OF THE LGBT COMMUNITY ARE NOT HAPPY WITH IGGY

(AllHipHop News) Besides recently getting engaged to boyfriend Nick “Swaggy P” Young, it has been a tough few weeks for Australian artist Iggy Azalea. First her Great Escape Tour was cancelled, and EW reports a scheduled appearance at Pittsburgh’s gay pride weekend has been axed as well.

Several local politicians, activists, and other groups took issue with Azalea’s inclusion at the event. Concerns were raised due to several tweets sent out by the “Fancy” performer in 2010 and 2011.

The old Twitter posts were seen as homophobic and racist. The then 20 year-old rising entertainer wrote in one tweet, “When guys whisper in each others ears I always think its kinda h###.”

“Our board voted last week to not march in the Pittsburgh Pride parade, due to the insensitive choice of Iggy Azalea as headliner,” said Vanessa Davis of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, Pittsburgh chapter.

Azalea responded to the controversy in a letter titled “A Message to Pittsburgh.” Read her letter below.
