George Floyd’s Family Suing Ye For $250 Million; Says Rapper Is Spreading Lies To Promote His Brands

Kanye West - Ye

Ye is facing a $250 million lawsuit for claiming George Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose on the new episode of the “Drink Champs” podcast.

The mother of George Floyd’s child has made good on the family’s threat to sue Kanye West over the rapper’s comments about her son’s death.

Roxie Washington, who is the sole beneficiary of George Floyd’s estate, retained the Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon Attorneys at Law to file a $250 million lawsuit against the rapper for emotional distress.

They have also issued a cease and desist letter to Kanye, who has been making inflammatory statements about George Floyd’s death.

During his controversial sit down with the “Drink Champs” podcast, Kanye West claimed George Floyd died from a fentanyl overdose and not at the hands of police officer Derek Chauvin, who kneeled on the man’s neck for over 9 1/2 minutes.

Derek Chauvin was convicted of killing George Floyd and was sentenced to 21 years in prison in July of 2022.

According to attorney Nuru Witherspoon, Kanye has been making statements to promote his brands.

“The interests of the child or priority. George Floyd’s daughter is being re-traumatized by Kanye West’s comments, and he’s creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for her,” Nuru Witherspoon said.

“Kanye’s comments are a repugnant attempt to discount George Floyd’s life and to profit from his inhumane death. We will hold Mr. West accountable for his flagrant remarks against Mr. Floyd’s legacy,” attorney Pat D. Dixon III, a partner at Dixon & Dixon attorneys at law, added.

The “Drink Champs” interview has since been removed, and one of the show’s hosts has been on an apology tour for giving Ye a platform to spread misinformation.
