Killer Mike Named Billboard Music Awards’ First-Ever Change Maker Award Recipient

The Run The Jewels member will accept the trophy from the APEX Museum in ATL.

Michael “Killer Mike” Render will be the recipient of the inaugural Billboard Change Maker Award at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms was tapped to present Killer Mike the honor at the city’s APEX Museum for speaking truth to power through music, celebrity, and community.

“This award highlights and recognizes the attributes of a true social justice warrior in the field of music who has made exemplary strides to lead the community in positive changemaking advocacy,” said Datwon Thomas, MRC’s VP, Cultural Media and Consulting Producer for the Billboard Music Awards.

Thomas continues, “In partnership with a diverse committee of colleagues at MRC and our cultural inclusion committee, BLAC, we selected Killer Mike for his contributions to the current movement and culture and his tangible efforts to make national and grassroots change.”

The 2020 Billboard Music Awards will air October 14 at 8 pm ET from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on NBC. Kelly Clarkson will serve as the host for the event. Post Malone leads all acts with 16 nominations in 15 categories. Lil Nas X earned 13 nods.
