Lyor Cohen Responds To Dame Dash Calling Him A “Culture Vulture”

THE 300 EXECUTIVE FINALLY ANSWERS BACK

(AllHipHop News) Last year Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Dame Dash was on a personal mission to call out individuals in the music business he believed to be “culture vultures.” Dame’s list of people he accused of using Hip Hop simply for profit included Lyor Cohen, the former head of Def Jam Recordings.

“I want him to stop trying to rape my culture. Go make some money with some other people,” Dame said at the time. “Stop having your agenda be Hip Hop.”

The business mogul also claimed Cohen was the cause of the fall of Roc-A-Fella. Dame challenged the media to question him and other label heads such as Kevin Liles, Julie Greenwald, and Todd Moscowitz about their roles in changing Hip Hop.

The longtime industry insider has finally given a rare interview. Cohen was a guest on the Rap Radar podcast, and the current 300 Entertainment (Fetty Wap, Young Thug) executive addressed Dame referring to him as a “culture vulture.”

Cohen said:

It actually doesn’t bother me. It would bother me if it came from a credible source. If it’s a credible source, then we can have a conversation and actually have a discussion. If someone thinks something about me that I may have done to offend them or hurt them or do something they misunderstand, then we’ll have a dialogue. We’ll communicate and get to an understanding and move on, or not. But I can’t give any light to that. It’s a clown right now.
