Mos Def Doing One-Off Show In London With The Hypnotic Brass Band

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def will make a rare, one-off appearance with The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

Mos will head over to the United Kingdom to perform at the 02 Forum Kentish Town, in Kentish Town, London.

Once there, Mos will run through live versions of songs from his catalog, backed by The Hypnotic Brass Band, which includes the seven sons of the legendary jazz trumpeter and band leader Kehlan Phil Cohran, who conducted for Earth Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan, Sun Ra).

Over the years, the Cohran brothers have worked with artists like Prince, The Family Stone, Ghostface Killah, Damon Albarn, DOOM and others.

It is unclear if the performance in the U.K. means the rapper is making progress towards resolving issues with his status the South African government over issues with his Visa.

Mos was arrested in January for trying to use a “World Passport” to leave Capetown, which he declared his home in 2014.

Since his arrest, Mos Def has released a steady stream of music, including songs like “Tall Sleeves,” “N.A.W.,” “Tall Sleeves,” “Local Time” most recently, “Hymn” with Ferrari Sheppard as Dec. 99th.
