Dr. Dre and Ice Cube weighed in on the controversy surrounding Suge Knight, who is currently being charged with murder regarding an incident that happened while filming the commercial for Straight Outta Compton.

“I was there,” Dre said. “But I was just leaving, so I didn’t know what happened until I was halfway home. I heard about it over the phone. It’s crazy that this happened during the f—ing filming of the commercial.” He continued, “It’s just a really unfortunate incident. Maybe [Knight] was looking for trouble. I don’t know.”

Ice Cube also discussed how N.W.A’s music is still relevant today when discussing race relations between the African American community and the police.

“It shows that we were not only ahead of our time, but right on time,” the Ride Along star told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s a constant situation between the powers that be and the neighborhoods we’ve come from.
