BET To Premiere A New Edition Biopic

THE NETWORK WILL BE SHOOTING THEIR FIRST MUSIC-FOCUSED FILM

After fooling all of us with rumors of bringing back Uncut, BET has announced a real upcoming project that they have in the works. The network is working on bringing a New Edition biopic to the small screen, according to a statement.

Members Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe are on board as producers. Bobby Brown will not be involved in the film. NE’s manager, Brooke Payne, will also serve as a co-producer. The biopic will be a three-night miniseries and is set to premiere in 2016.

“We are happy to have New Edition Enterprises collaborate with BET Networks’ Debra Lee and Stephen Hill along with Jesse Collins Entertainment.  From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like The Temptations and The Jackson Five—we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here. For the fans all over the world, this one’s for you,” New Edition said in a statement.

The film is still in the early stages, with no cast members  or director chosen and no title. SHooting will begin in early 2016.
