Nicki Minaj Credited With Helping John Wall Make 2015 NBA All-Star Team

NICKI’S BARBZ SHOWED SUPPORT TO THE WIZARDS GUARD

(AllHipHop News) Washington Wizards’ John Wall is headed to the 2015 NBA All-Star game. The 24-year-old former Kentucky player was voted in as a starter for the showcase, and one Hip Hop artist is being credited for helping him make the roster.

Young Money’s Nicki Minaj sent out a tweet to her 18 million followers last December that simply read, “John Wall #NBABallot.” The Queens rapper’s legions of fans (known as Barbz) retweeted their favorite performer’s message which under the All-Star balloting rules counted as votes for Wall. Presumably, some of Nicki’s followers also voted by way of other digital options at the behest of the Queen Barb.

“It’s pretty exciting to see her, at that level, to show some support and vote,” Wall told CSNWashington’s Ben Standig.

The basketball star and rap star only had one brief encounter in person. However, Minaj and Wall created a bond when the 6’4” guard campaigned to get a 6-year-old girl battling Burkitt’s lymphoma to meet Nicki. Thanks to Wall, Miyah Nelson was able to meet the “Super Bass” performer before she passed away late last year.

Wall showed social media love to Minaj in December as well. He shouted out her latest album The Pinkprint on Twitter after its release.

Besides the alley-oop from Nicki, Wall’s play on the court has made him one of the 10 starters for the February 15 game in NYC. Wall leads the league with 10.2 assists per game. His Wizards team is currently in second place in the Eastern Conference behind the Atlanta Hawks.
