Quannum MCs The Gift of Gab and Lateef the Truth Speaker will venture out this spring on a North American tour from March 18 through May. While The Gift of Gab plans to perform songs off his solo debut Fourth Dimensional Rocketships Going Up, on the tour, Lateef is opting for fresh material from his collaboration with producer Chief Xcel, Maroons: Ambush, in addition to classics from his past membership in Latyrx with Lyrics Born. The tour is Gab’s last solo outing before the MC hooks back up with his partner, Chief Xcel, to promote their new Blackalicious record entitled The Craft. Several lucrative deals in the past year have broadened the spotlight on Gab and Lateef. A Blackalicious rework of a classic Kurtis Blow song will be used for an upcoming Microsoft television spot, and Gab’s "Way of the Light" was used twice by Diet Coke on recent international campaigns. Lateef collaborated with Fatboy Slim in 2004 and generated the single "Wonderful Night," which will appear in the upcoming film "Robots" and has been used by Olympus and Showtime. Soon after meeting in KDVS-FM studios at the University of California at Davis, Gab and Lateef formed Solesides Collective (now Quannum Projects) with Chief Xcel, Lyrics Born, and DJ Shadow. Gab’s solo album, Fourth Dimensional Rocketships Going Up was released last year on Quannum Projects and featured production by Seattle’s Jake One (G Unit, Mixmaster Mike) and Vitamin D. The Maroons: Ambush album is also currently available on Quannum Projects. Tour dates and additional information on The Gift of Gab and Lateef the Truth Speaker are available at www.quannum.com.
