Spike Lee Reportedly Recruiting Kanye West, Common, & Samuel L. Jackson For "Chiraq" Movie

THE OSCAR-NOMINATED FILMMAKER IS TAKING HIS TALENTS TO AMAZON STUDIOS

(AllHipHop News) In recent years, Chicago has picked up the nickname Chiraq as a result of the high rate of gun violence in the city. Acclaimed director Spike Lee is reportedly now signed on to film a movie for Amazon Studios called Chiraq.

According to The Wrap, Kanye West, Common, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jeremy Piven are being pursued to appear in the forthcoming flick. West, Common, and Piven are all Chicago natives.

Samuel Jackson, who is expected to provide a cameo role in Chiraq, has a long working relationship with Lee. The Brooklyn filmmaker directed Jackson in Do the Right Thing,  Mo’ Better Blues and Jungle Fever. Lee’s last feature film was Da Sweet Blood of Jesus. 

Amazon Studios launched in 2010 as a digital video streaming service. The company’s original television programming includes Alpha House, Hand Of God, and Mozart in the Jungle.
