(AllHipHop News) Top Dawg Entertainment could rightfully profess to be the most critically acclaimed music label of 2017. Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN and SZA’s Ctrl earned the two artists a combined 12 Grammy nominations.

In addition, DAMN and Ctrl have dominated numerous end-of-the-year lists. According to Metacritic, Kendrick’s latest LP was named the best album of the year by 39 outlets, giving the Compton emcee the most #1 placements.

SZA is currently in the top 5 on the tally. At least five critics called Ctrl the #1 album of 2017, and the R&B project earned second place from 10 different sources.

TDE President Terrence “Punch” Henderson acknowledged the success of the company’s ’17 releases. He tweeted, “It’s an amazing feeling watching DAMN and Ctrl alternate between the 1 and 2 spot on all of these year end list. 2 different artist[s], 2 different POVs, 2 genres, 2 different concepts, female and male. So dope all around.”

Billboard, Rolling Stone, NPR, Pitchfork, Complex, and Spin are among the publications to crown DAMN the best album of 2017. Ctrl topped the year-end album lists for New York Daily News, Noisey, Time, and Vice.
