The first scenes of the newest installment in the Terminator franchise were revealed to the world this week with the simultaneous international release of a teaser trailer for Terminator Salvation yesterday (July 18).

The new movie, starring rapper Common and Batman’s Christian Bale, is due in theaters May 22, 2009.

Salvation brings to life the future of which John Connor has been warned in the previous three Terminator movies.

Connor, played by Bale, assumes his role as the leader of the human resistance against Skynet.

But he finds that the future has been slightly altered from what he has been preparing for.

Common is currently in Albuquerque, New Mexico filming Terminator Salvation, his fifth appearance in a major feature film release.

He is also putting the finishing touches on his ninth studio album, Invincible Summer.

“I realize that for me to have a career in this [film], I can’t approach it from a Hip-Hop artist’s perspective,” Common told AllHipHop.com. “I’ve approached my career, my acting career, definitely as a new actor.”

The veteran emcee says that his burgeoning acting career has also had a great impact on his Hip-Hop music.

“I feel more free now that I’m doing more movies and stuff, to just put out music that I love and I believe in and get it out there,” stated Common, who has landed high profile roles in American Gangster, Wanted, Smokin Aces and others.

“It makes me do Hip-Hop even more for the love now,” Common revealed. “When you’re making music and you’re like okay this is my job, I love what I’m doing and I always had dreamed of this, but this is how I pay my bills and take care of my daughter, and this is how I’m able to pay my car note or whatever it may be. When you’re creating at the end of the day, you can try to remove everything from your mind that this is your job, but somewhere in the back of your mind you still know that you gotta do something that’s viable to the market for you to survive.”

Invincible Summer is due in stores in September.

Produced by Mr. DJ and the Neptunes.

The album is enjoying an early online buzz due to the early release of it’s first two singles Announcement” and “Universal Mind Control.”
