LOCAL ACTS ARE WORKING TO CHANGE CHIRAQ BACK TO CHICAGO

(AllHipHop News) The city of Chicago has been battling excessive violence in its streets for years. Some Hip Hop acts like Kanye West, Common, and Chance The Rapper have made efforts to support the young people of their hometown, and now a new collection of rappers and singers are coming together to help end the bloodshed in the Windy City.

The “Voice of the Streetz” movement was started by Rawle Stewart. The manager of platinum-selling performer Twista began the community outreach effort after his friend/Lil Durk’s manager Chino Dolla was killed in March.

The artists will travel to six different neighborhoods in Chicago. Instead of performing, the participants will hold town hall like meetings to get insight from the residents about the issues plaguing the community. Twista is among the rappers participating in the campaign.

“Anytime a person has a positive sparkle, a spark in his head to do something to stop something that’s bad happening, especially kids getting killed in the streets and people shooting and things like that, I mean, anything to stop something like that is a good time,” Twista told FOX 32.

Other Chicago acts that have signed on for “Voice of the Streetz” include Stunt Taylor and Dancer D Low. Fifty-five people attended the first meeting in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. More dates/locations will be announced in the near future.
