Following Sunday night’s much talked about 2012 BET Awards, Warner Music Group hosted a star-packed after-party event at Cecconi’s in Los Angeles. The party, which was presented by Coke Zero, Smart Water, and Crown Royal Black, included all sorts of guest appearances, such as Diggy Simmons, Jahlil Beats, Rick Ross, Stalley, Trey Songz, TGT (Tank, Ginuwine, Tyrese), Brandy, Common, and many more. D'Angelo's First Televised Appearance In A Decade Happening At 2012 BET Awards
(AllHipHop News) With his recent revival being one of the most talked-about highlights of the 2012 Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee a few weeks back, BET has announced that D’Angelo will be hitting the stage as a performer on July 1 for the 2012 BET Awards. The platinum-singer’s awards show performance will be the his first live television appearance in over a decade. BET’s President of Music Programming Stephen G. Hill said of D’Angelo’s highly anticipated performance, “Usually, we love to keep surprises…but this year we want EVERYONE watching when D’Angelo takes the stage at the BET Awards!” Hill continued, “His talents have been away from us for far too long, and we’re excited and honored that he’s decided to make his American re-entry at this year’s BET Awards.” Recent additions to the performers list for the 2012 awards show include G.O.O.D. Music, Usher, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, MMG, Chris Brown, and Nicki Minaj. The 2012 BET Awards will air live from the Shrine Auditorium on July 1 at 8p.m.

A$AP Rocky has revealed dates for an upcoming 13-stop international festival tour that will see the Harlem native hit countries like England, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and of course the United States. Beginning on July 5, Rocky and the A$AP Mob will perform at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark and continue to rock sets at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, the OVO Fest in Toronto, and Rock the Bells in Mountain View, California. The group, which is signed to Polo Grounds/RCA, is putting the finishing touches on their soon-to-be-released mixtape compilation. Recent Def Jam signee 2 Chainz continues enjoy the fruits of success in 2012 with the news that he has been added to Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday Tour.” Billboard reports that 2 Chainz will be hitting the road for 14 of Nicki’s upcoming tour dates beginning on July 16 in Chicago, Illinois. On August 14, two days after the tour ends, the rapper who is currently opening for Drake on the “Club Paradise Tour,” will release his debut solo album, Based On A T.R.U. Story.

Rev. Al Sharpton Set to Be Honored At 2012 BET Awards; Releases Statement Calling Rodney King A "Symbol Of Civil Rights"
(AllHipHop News) Reverend Al Sharpton will be honored with the Humanitarian Award during this year’s BET Awards, which is being hosted by Samuel L. Jackson and will air live from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on July 1. The longtime political activist will join a list of previous honorees that include Magic Johnson, John Legend, Quincy Jones, Denzel Washington, Muhammad Ali, Wycelf Jean and others. According to THR, Sharpton was specifically selected for “his work as the founder and president of the National Action Network, a nonprofit civil rights organization based out of Harlem, as well as his radio talk show (Keepin’ It Real) and his national cable television show (Politics Nation on MSNBC).” In addition, following yesterday’s (June 17) troubling news that Rodney King was found dead at his home on Father’s Day at age 47, Sharpton has gone on record in a statement to call King a “symbol of Civil Rights.” He stated that King made the country “focus on the presence of profiling and police misconduct.” He later praised King for spreading peace in the years following his vicious beating nearly 20 years ago by the LAPD that ultimately set off the infamous L.A. Riots. “Through all that he had gone through, with his beating and his personal demons, he was never one to not call for reconciliation and for people to overcome and forgive,” Sharpton proclaimed. 2012 BET Awards Adds Usher, 2 Chainz and Big Sean As Performers; Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj Also Set to Perform
(AllHipHop News) Following the nominations and host announcement in late May, BET has revealed that they have added Usher, 2 Chainz, and Big Sean to their list of performers for this year’s awards show. Grammy Award-winning singer Usher, whose seventh studio album, Looking 4 Myself, hit stores today, will return to the BET Awards show stage for the first time since 2010. In addition to Usher, Def Jam recording artist 2 Chainz will also hit the stage as will Big Sean, whose nominated for three BET Awards this year including Best New Artist, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, and Best Collaboration for his song “Marvin & Chardonnay”. Both artists are featured on “Mercy,” the first single from G.O.O.D. Music’s upcoming compilation, Cruel Summer, which is set for release this summer. When the nominations were announced in May, it was revealed that both Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj, who are currently enjoying the success of their individual records in rotation as well as their collaboration, “Right By My Side,” would also perform. (AllHipHop News) Earlier today (May 22) at the BET Studios in New York City, Stephen Hill, President of BET’s Music Programming and Specials, was on hand to announce the 2012 BET Awards show’s nominees, recipient of the “Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award,” and host for the awards, to take place on July 1 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. After a number of comedians were tasked with hosting the awards show in years past, and for 2012 BET has given host duties to the highest grossing actor of all time, Samuel L. Jackson. “We are massively excited about having Sam Jackson host the BET Awards,” Hill exclaimed. “His wit, presence, and gigantic personality are the perfect match for our show.” Hill also revealed that, alongside a panel that included 2012 BET Awards nominees like A$AP Rocky, Big Sean, Melanie Fiona, DJ Khaled, Diggy Simmons, Astro, and Mindless Behavior, Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj would be performing at this year’s show. He promised that more announcements regarding performers would be made in the near future. “Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award” recipient Frankie Beverly was also on-hand at the nomination event to speak on the prestigious honor of being recognized as part of the group Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. Regarding nominees, Kanye West unsurprisingly leads the pack with seven nominations, some of which include “Best Collaboration,” “Video Director of the Year,” and five more with Watch The Throne member, Jay-Z. Beyonce received six nominations, such as “Best Female R&B Artist” and two nods for “Video of the Year” for “Countdown” and “Love On Top.” Speaking on his Best New Artist nomination, A$AP Rocky told AllHipHop.com, “It feels great, and I’m happy. That’s a really big deal so I’m happy for that. You couldn’t tell me in May of last year that we would be doing this. I wouldn’t have expected it, so I feel blessed and I just thank God all the time. “The fans are the most ultimate importance of everything,” A$AP Rocky stated. “Without them there is no movement, and I’ve got a lot of supportive people right now and it’s crazy ’cause I didn’t expect this.
