Epic Win Of The Day: Django Dolls Snatched Off EBAY!

I don’t know if this is a real epic win or not, but it seem to be a strong position being taken by EBAY. Spike Lee is redeemed! Slave Dolls? Really? That’s where we are now? Welp….here is what TMZ is saying about it.   ‘Django Unchained’ — Slave Toys Banned from eBay Don’t count on finding one of those discontinued “Django Unchained” slave toys on eBay any time soon — TMZ has learned, the action figures have now been banned from the auction website. TMZ broke the story … the Weinstein Company (which produced the film) discontinued the promotional figurines in response to a massive backlash from several African-American advocacy groups. After the toy company halted production, the toys began to pop up on eBay as “rare” collectibles … and bids skyrocketed. But last night, all the listings for the “Django” toys were yanked from the website — and eBay explained itself to sellers with an email, saying, “Since the manufacturer of this product has discontinued the item’s sale due to its potentially offensive nature, we are not allowing it to be sold on eBay.” eBay also cautioned the sellers not to re-list the items. A rep for the auction website confirmed the story, telling us, “These [toys] were removed as they were in violation of our Offensive Materials policy.” They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry! -illseed. Django Dolls: Genius or GTFOH?

(AllHipHop News) Have you ever wanted a slave doll as a kid? What about a slave master doll? Quentin Tarantino thinks you do. Django has grossed over $100 million since opening Christmas Day. It’s even earned several Golden Globe nominations. Now the companies behind the film want doll replicas of the main characters to whup some ass in the toy market. Last fall, the National Entertainment Collectibles Association, Inc. (NECA), in tandem with the Weinstein Company, announced a full line of consumer products based on characters from the movie. First up are pose-able eight-inch action figures with tailored clothing, weaponry, and accessories in the likeness of characters played by Foxx, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, James Remar and Christoph Waltz. The dolls are currently on sale via Amazon.com. A press release announcing the deal stated that the line was similar to the retro toy lines that helped define the licensed action-figure market in the 1970s and that the collection will include a full apparel and accessories line. At the time of the announcement, NECA president Joel Weinshanker said the company was “very excited to bring the stellar cast of Django to life and honored to be working with another Tarantino masterpiece.” [The Daily Beast] Racist or marketing genius?

Hip-Hop Rumors: What’s With Quentin Tarantino’s Eye At Django Presser?

Today, AllHipHop was present a press conference today for the movie Django. It was all good and everybody was there from Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington, Don Johnson, Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio and more. But, what I heard people were talking about after was Quentin’s eye. Apparently, he walked into the venue and sat in front of a group of journalists with an eye that was bleeding. Now, it wasn’t dripping or anything, but it almost looked like he had just gotten punched, according to sources. One woman was seriously thinking that he had gotten punched. Somebody said that wouldn’t be out of line with Quentin’s motif. Well? Nobody really knows and nobody asked. It was all speculation. But, there is a lot of talk around this movie. A lot of people want to know “Why?” and others question the use of the N-Word so much. Apparently, its very good. So, I guess we’ll see.
