Usher's New Look Foundation Celebrates 15th Anniversary
Usher Raymond IV recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of his non-profit organization The New Look Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta native Ludacris hosted the star-studded gala, which drew around 450 attendees. Celebrity guest in attendance included director Kenny Leon, boxing icon Sugar Ray Leonard; singers Rico Love, Josh Kauffman, super producer Jermaine Dupri, Blake Shelton, and producer and songwriter Bryan Michael Cox. The President’s Circle Awards Luncheon was held at the St. Regis Atlanta hotel (in the upscale Buckhead neighborhood). Usher created the organization at the age of 20, with the backing of his mother. The luncheon celebrated community influencers that have inspired youth to pursue their passions while making a significant impact in their respective professional fields. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was honored with the Service Legacy Award alongside other notable honorees that included sponsors and outstanding students. The foundation raised more than $1 million through the luncheon. A live auction was held during the ceremony which raised an additional $98,000. Former U.S President Bill Clinton, actor Robert De Niro and singer Pharrell Williams all posted video messages congratulating Usher on foundation’s success. Usher’s foundation has helped more than 21,000 worldwide since its 1999 bright beginning. The mission of the foundation is to grant disadvantaged youth the exposure to talent, education, career and service as the program provides mentors, internships, and travel opportunities. AllHipHop’s Rea Melissa Davis caught up with Usher, Ludacris, Sugar Ray Leonard, Josh Kaufman, Kenny Leon, and some of the honorees to discuss how important it is to empower today’s youth. Celebs Attend Atlanta 'Think Like A Man Too' Premiere
This past Wednesday, Atlanta hosted a ‘Think Like a Man Too’ red carpet screening. Cast members, celebrities, taste makers, and media were treated to an advance screening of the movie at Regal Cinemas Atlantic Station. The red carpet saw appearances from Kevin Hart, Romany Malco, Lala Anthony, Terrence J, R. Kelly, KeKe Wyatt, Ludacris and girlfriend Eudoxie, Tameka Raymond, Tamar Braxton and her husband Vincent Herbert, Letoya Luckett, Karli Redd, Erica Dixon, DeRay Davis and more. In ‘Think Like A Man Too,’ the highly anticipated sequel to ‘Think Like A Man’ (inspired by Steve Harvey’s book of the same name), Kevin Hart, Terrence J, Michael Ealy, Romany Malco, Gabriel Union and more all return to the big screen for a wedding in Las Vegas, but plans for the romantic weekend go awry when their various misadventures get them into some compromising situations that threaten to derail the big event. Terrence J stated that It’s almost impossible to keep a straight face around Kevin Hart because he is funniest man in the world right now. Kevin Hart told the AJC that the chemistry the cast has is amazing. “We are a tight-knit group because we gelled instantly on camera and off. It was like seeing all your friends on the first day of school,” said Hart. ‘Think Like a Man Too’ will open in wide release on June 20. Check out the photos below. EXCLUSIVE: Rico Love Speaks on ‘They Don’t Know’ All Star Remix
(AllHipHop News) Producer/rapper Rico Love recently spoke with AllHipHop.com inside of Circle House Studios about the release of his new projects: the EP Discrete Luxury and the mixtape “El Presidente.” Rico revealed that he deliberately released the Discrete Luxury EP with no marketing or promotion. He explained the logic behind his business strategy for the release. “I didn’t put any promo behind Discrete Luxury, I didn’t announce that I was going to do an artist situation, I didn’t announce I was going to do a project…I wanted to drop my single, a video and a 5 song EP… “The main purpose was because I was singing on the single ‘They Don’t Know.’ I didn’t want people to think I’m a singer, ’cause even now people are like ‘R&B sensation Rico Love,’ especially with the success I’ve had writing songs. So I just wanted to drop a body of work to explain who I was in a nutshell as an artist.” Rico Love also spoke on the All Star remix for “They Don’t Know,” which features Ludacris, T.I. Trey Songz and Tiara Thomas. Thanks to Rico’s extensive work as a producer with artists like Beyonce, Wiz Khalifa, Pitbull, Usher and others, getting names for the remix wasn’t difficult. “Everyone who was on the remix called me and asked to be on it, I didn’t call anyone and say ‘I’m doing a remix I need a verse,’” Rico Love told AllHipHop.com. “Trey Songz didn’t even call me. I went in the studio to work with him and he said ‘Oh I remixed your joint check it out.’ He played me his verse and gave me the files. Ludacris called me and said ‘can you send the track?’ T.I., same thing: ‘Yo I wanna get on that joint.’ Tiara, you know, it was just one of them situations where it was real. I even put my artist MJ [on the remix]. He’s singing at the end. If you listen to the tail end, the ad libs he’s singing.
