Beanie Sigel Sentenced To 6-23 Months For Drug Charge
(AllHipHop News) Former Roc-A-Fella rapper Beanie Sigel was sentenced to 6 to 23 months in county prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to drug charges from an August 2012 arrest in Tinicum Township, Pennsylvania according to reports by the Delaware County Daily Times. Sigel (born Dwight Grant) and a companion were stopped by state troopers on I-95 for traffic violations around 3:00 a.m. on August 29th. Police found prescription pills and marijuana on the driver of the vehicle, Gerald Andrews. Sigel was asleep in the passenger’s seat at the time the car was pulled over, but was searched by the officers as well. Police then found codeine, pills, and $4,500 in the Philadelphia emcee’s possession. A .38 caliber Smith and Wesson was also discovered in the car. Sigel and Andrews are prohibited to carry a firearm because both men are convicted felons. Sigel had been detained in jail since being arrested on drug possession, possession with the intent to deliver, persons not to possess firearms, firearms not to be carried without a license and conspiracy charges. Yesterday, he pleaded guilty to the illegal prescription drug possession which is an ungraded misdemeanor. “Mr. Grant has been a successful entertainer and musician in the Philadelphia community for decades,” said Sigel’s defense attorney Carson Morris. “Obviously, he’s had an incredible amount of success and opportunity in his life. He’s also made some mistakes, which have ended up putting him in custody. He’s ready to go ahead and put that behind him and move on with is life.” Beanie Sigel has had several run ins with the law. He served a one year federal sentence for a gun charge he received in 2002. He was arrested twice in 2003 for assault and attempted murder. He was not convicted of either crime. He was sentenced to 24 months in prison. Sigel’s attorney also mentioned to the judge that the rapper is experiencing serious financial issues stemming from owing back taxes. Sigel released his last album, This Time, just hours before his August 29 arrest. [ALSO READ: Beanie Sigel Releases “This Time”, Talks State Property The Movement, Nas, and Rick Ross]

Shower Posse Leader Christopher "Dudus" Coke Gets 23 Years In Prison
(AllHipHop News) Jamaican drug Lord Christopher “Dudus” Coke was sentenced to 23 years in federal prison yesterday (June. 8). Dudus was the infamous leader of The Shower Posse, a Jamaican gang well-known within the urban community. The Shower Posse was the subject of several specials, including an episode of BET’s “American Gangster.” Dudus pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering and one count of conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon, in aid of racketeering. Federal prosecutors said that Dudus presided over an international drug and weapons trafficking organization, that used a “small army of soldiers” who controlled used violence and intimidation on the streets, for nearly two decades. “With his conviction, he is no longer able to traffic drugs in the U.S., move guns across our border, or terrorize people, and with today’s sentence, he will now spend a very long time in prison for his crimes,” said Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Christopher “Dudus” Coke controlled “The Shower Posse” as well as “The Presidential Click,” which was responsible for over 1,400 murders in the United States alone. After a month-long manhunt, Dudus was finally apprehended in Kingston, disguised as a woman, in a wig and glasses. Before his death, Shower Posse Vivian Blake called upon Hip-Hop mogul Irv Gotti and director Curtis Scoon, to produce a biopic on the violent gang. “I spoke with Irv Gotti, [and director] Curtis Scoon. Irv Gotti is a young man where I think hell bring the best out in this movie, show the rawness of this movie,” Blake told AllHipHop.com exclusively in August of 2009. ”This movies not just about gangsta and drug dealing, its about a culture that nobody has ever seen.”
