Daily Word Salutes “Whoa”-Inspiring Women: Be Bigger Than Circumstance!!

Happy Take-Over Thursday, my Soldiers and Survivors! Welcome to day four of our tribute to phenomenal women who are helping to inspire us into greatness! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to being bigger than your circumstance. With that said, our phenomenal woman recipient is a young lady by the name of Hydeia Broadbent. Hydeia, who was born with HIV and was told that she would not live past the age of five, is an international AIDS activist who spends her time spreading the message of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. She debuted as an HIV/AIDS activist and public speaker at the age of six and by 12, she appeared on many national television programs including “Oprah”, “20/20”, and “Good Morning America”. Instead of allowing her condition to become a death sentence, she took on a mission to educate people of all ages about the risk of HIV/AIDS. She has been featured in prominent publications like The New York Times, People, Essence, Ebony, Sister 2 Sister, National Geographic, Seventeen, and Heart & Soul. She also once graced the cover of the TV Guide, and been on many of America’s top talk radio programs including, The Michael Eric Dyson Show, Russ Parr Morning Show, and The Tom Joyner Morning Show. Through her activism, Hydeia has shown us that, no matter what your circumstance is, you have a purpose and as long as your are living for something bigger than you, you will fulfill that purpose. We can sit around and complain about the hand we were dealt, or we can stop making excuses and make great things happen!! Life is for living and as long as you are willing to live to the fullest, then nothing can stop you! We Salute you, Ms. Hydeia Broadbent!! Continue to inspire and motivate!! -Ash’Cash “The first thing a great person does, is make us realize the insignificance of circumstance.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson “We can let circumstances rule us, or we can take charge and rule our lives from within.” -Earl Nightingale “Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside them was superior to circumstance.” -Bruce Barton “You have the power to think what you want. No matter what the circumstance.” -Unknown “If you do not have faith when circumstances seem to be against you, then you do not have faith at all.” -Charles H. Spurgeon “People who soar are those who refuse to sit back, sigh and wish things would change. They neither complain of their lot nor passively dream of some distant ship coming in. Rather, they visualize in their minds that they are not quitters; they will not allow life’s circumstances to push them down and hold them under.” -Unknown “No matter what age you are, or what your circumstances might be, you are special, and you still have something unique to offer. Your life, because of who you are, has meaning.” -Barbara De Angelis “To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.” -Bruce Lee TO HEAR THE AUDIO VERSION OF THE DAILY WORD – CLICK HERE. Daily Word Salutes “Whoa”-Inspiring Women: Let Your Light Shine!!

Happy Wins-Day, my creatures of greatness! Welcome to day three of our recognition of phenomenal women who have helped inspire us to be great. Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to letting your light shine, and this week’s recognition would not be complete with out honoring my sister from another mister, Ms. MC Lyte! Lyte, who is undeniably a Hip-Hop living legend, has been breaking down barriers since the ’80s. Her music and sound is unique and her contribution to the history of Hip-Hop is significant. But this recognition comes from a different place…. Whether wildly known or not, MC Lyte is a business women, motivational speaker, and philanthropist who aims to inspire people to never stop dreaming and to create the success they want out of life. In her own words, Lyte recently said in an interview, “The first thingyou have to realize, is that there is huge surplus of abundance outhere, and you create every moment for yourself. I have a friend who is always saying ‘My breakthrough is coming soon!’ and ‘One day I willhave money to do what I need,’ and that’s the problem. Her breakthrough will ALWAYS be in the future, because that’s where sheputs it. Because we create every moment for ourselves, what we have torealize is, this moment we are in right now was created long before ithappened! If you focus on being broke, that’s what you will be. If youfocus on not having enough money, that’s what will show up. If youfocus on being homeless, that’s where you will stay. The constantrepetition of your thoughts will bring that very thing to you.”…. I couldn’t have said it better!! Profound words from a phenomenal woman!! Her willingness to share her gift with others and encourage them to shine their own light is one of her biggest secrets for her longevity and success… So today, as we honor Ms. Lyte, I urge you to shine your own! Always have faith in your abilities and understand that everything your want out of life is already yours… All you have to do is have courage enough to claim it!! We Salute you, Ms. Lyte as Rock!! We appreciate all you do!!-Ash’Cash “In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t.” -Blaise Pascal “Who is more foolish, the child afraid of the dark or the man afraid of the light?” -Maurice Freehill “To be a star, you must shine your own light, follow your own path, and don’t worry about the darkness, for that is when the stars shine brightest.” -Unknown “It isn’t necessary to blow out the other person’s light to let your own shine.” -Unknown “As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other peoplepermission to do the same.” -Nelson Mandela “Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.” -Anthony J. D’Angelo “We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won’t need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don’t fire cannons to call attention to their shining – they just shine.” -Dwight L. Moody “Beset by a difficult problem? Now is your chance to shine. Pick yourself up, get to work and get triumphantly through it.” -Ralph Marston “Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” -Chinese Proverb TO HEAR THE AUDIO VERSION OF THE DAILY WORD – CLICK HERE. Daily Word Salutes “Whoa”-Inspiring Women: Define Yourself!!!

Happy Tuesday, my Great ones! Welcome to day two of our special celebration of women who have inspired us to be great! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to Defining Yourself… and who better to represent this topic than Ms. Dana Owens or Queen Latifah as we better know her as. From her introduction into the world, she has always marched to her own beat! Ms. Owens burst onto the scene defying everything that she was told wouldn’t work, and she rewrote the rules to work in her favor – from dominating a man-driven music genre, to redefining what society called beauty. She has won Golden Globes, Image Awards, and Grammys, Has been nominated for Emmys and Oscars, starred in Musicals, and Hollywood blockbusters alongside A-List actors such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, and Dolly Parton. She is a celebrity spokesperson for Covergirl cosmetics, Curvation ladies underwear, Pizza Hut, and Jenny Craig, and has her own line of cosmetics for women of color called the CoverGirl Queen Collection. Transitioned from Hip-Hop into Jazz and R&B, singing alongside great talents such as Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and Stevie Wonder. Sung “America the Beautiful” at the 2010 Super Bowl, owns her own movie production company which releases both theatrical and straight to DVD releases… Ohh….and did I mention that she started as a rapper from the rough streets of Newark, New Jersey? The point is that, from her inception, Ms. Owens was being told what she could and could not do, but instead of allowing others to set limitations on her, she took her life in her own hands and defined for herself what was possible! Greatness is simply that – the ability to take your life in your own hands and give your best in whatever you do! For that, Ms. Dana Elaine Owens, we Salute you!! All Hail the Queen!!! -Ash’Cash “We must not allow other people’s limited perceptions to define us.” -Virginia Satir “Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else.” -Judy Garland “Life is not what it’s supposed to be. Its what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.” -Virginia Satir “When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” -Confucius “Your mistake does not define who you are…you are your possibilities.” -Oprah Winfrey “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” -Dr. Seuss “Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” -George Bernard Shaw “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson TO HEAR THE AUDIO VERSION OF THE DAILY WORD – CLICK HERE.
