Drake Has Most Solo Hits In Billboard History

(AllHipHop News) Drake has become the first artist to debut two songs on the Billboard Hot 100’s top 10 simultaneously twice. The rapper’s “God’s Plan” has rocketed to number one, while “Diplomatic Immunity” enters at seven. “God’s Plan” is Drake’s fourth Hot 100 number one but only his second as a lead artist. He also becomes only the 29th artist to debut a new song at the top of the countdown. Drake previously debuted “Passionfruit” and “Portland” in the top 10 last year, just over two months after Ed Sheeran became the first artist to debut two tracks in the top 10 in the same week. The Brit’s “Shape of You” landed at number one, five spots ahead of “Castle on the Hill.” Drake’s new hits take his Hot 100 tally to 159, extending his lead for the most among soloists. Only the cast of Glee has totaled more, with 207 hits. “God’s Plan” has also rocketed to the top of the official U.K. Singles chart. Meanwhile, Sheeran’s Perfect holds at two in America as Camila Cabello’s Havana drops from one to three. Post Malone’s Rockstar falls a spot to four, and Grammy champion Bruno Mars’ Finesse collaboration with Cardi B rounds out the new top five.

Donald Glover: ‘It Would Be Cool To Join The Egot Club’

(AllHipHop News) Donald Glover has admitted it would “be cool” to join the prestigious EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) club now that he has won his first Grammy Award. The multi-talented performer took home the prize for best traditional R&B performance for his song “Redbone” at the 60th annual Grammy Awards in New York on Sunday night. Glover has already won two Emmy awards for his hit FX series “Atlanta,” which he writes and stars in, and the wins have put the 34-year-old, who raps under the name Childish Gambino, on track to become the 13th person to join the exclusive EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) club. Glover takes a relaxed view to winning the Oscar and Tony award needed to get into the club, which counts Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn and Mel Brooks among its members. “(That’s) a little scary. There’s a lot of pressure,” he told The New York Daily News. “‘Now you got to get an Oscar.’ That’s a lot of work.” Glover, who was nominated for four other awards, including Record of the Year and Album of the Year for “Awaken, My Love!” but lost out to Bruno Mars in both categories, also confirmed his intention to retire his rap alter-ego. “I stand by that,” he insisted. “I’m really appreciative of this, and I’m still making another project. But I like endings… I think endings are good because they force things to get better.” The rising star has several big movie projects in the works including a starring role as a young Lando Calrissian in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” and the live-action remake of “The Lion King” taking on the iconic role of Simba. At the awards show, Glover performed his song “Terrified” with nine-year-old J.D. McCrary, who has been cast as young Simba in the upcoming film.

Black Panther Dubbed ‘Best Marvel Movie’ After Premiere

(AllHipHop News) Fans and critics who saw the “Black Panther” at its world premiere in Los Angeles on Monday have proclaimed it the best Marvel movie to date. Ryan Coogler’s film, which stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, an African prince ruling the fictional kingdom of Wakanda whose alter ego is the superhero Black Panther, has been hotly anticipated – but few predicted the universal praise it has received after its debut. Among those blown away by the movie were Umberto Gonzalez, a film reporter for The Wrap, who wrote on Twitter, “I think the argument can be made for #BlackPanther being the best Marvel film ever! Just got out of premiere & overwhelmed at the imagery, the majesty, & a film that elevates the superhero genre to new heights.” The stars were also present at the premiere and spoke to reporters about what they loved about the movie, the first superhero blockbuster to feature a majority black cast. Angela Bassett, who plays Ramonda, T’Challa’s royal mother told Variety that she was delighted to see a group of black actors and filmmakers get the chance to create a superhero epic about an advanced African society. Asked about what she loved about the movie she said, “To see all these beautiful, talented black people all in one place, this black nation, coming together, technologically advanced with so much swag and brilliance.” Describing the film’s new take on the superhero genre, Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya, who stars as T’Challa’s best friend and security chief W’Kabi, added, “This is how it’s supposed to be, this is the actual world and this reflects the world and we have to tell honest stories from all perspectives, not just one.”

DMX Back In Jail After Testing Positive For Hard Drugs

(AllHipHop News) DMX’s sobriety was shortlived as the rapper has been sent back to jail in Manhattan earlier today (January 30). DMX was taken into custody for failing a series of drug tests after he was sentenced to a stint in a New Hampshire rehab in as his tax evasion trial looms. According to reports, DMX had opioids, cocaine, and oxycodone in his system, an obvious breach of the terms of his release, which had been going well. The rapper was granted leave from rehab to perform in several states along with a 24-hour sobriety coach, but it seems even this could not help DMX, born Earl Simmons. The judge has branded the rap star as a flight risk, and he is currently being held without bail. “I’m saddened and disappointed. We’ll have to deal with it accordingly,” DMX’s lawyer Murray Richman said in a statement.

Boosie and Kevin Gates Squash Beef Could Work Together

(AllHipHop News) Two of the best rappers to ever come out of Baton Rouge may finally be linking up. In 2018 after a few years of beefing, Lil Boosie and Kevin Gates could be sharing a stage together. The two men and former collaborators had issues as early as 2009, after the death of Chris “Nussie” Jackson, who was one of five men gunned down by Michael Louding, aka Marlo Mike, allegedly on the orders of Boosie. Boosie stood trial for hiring Marlo Mike to kill a man named Terry Boyd, but he was acquitted of the murder charge in May of 2012 and never charged in the Nussie killing. In 2016, members of Boosie’s Bad Azz crew fought with people allegedly associated with Kevin Gates’ Bread Winners’ Association, in Louisville, Kentucky. Gates, who was recently released from a prison in Illinois after serving nine months over gun charges, could be hitting the stage with Lil Boosie if the B.W.A boss can get permission from his probation officer. “Just got off the line with @iamkevingates trying to pull it off so he can perform at the #BoosieBash THE CITY NEEDS THIS,” Lil Boosie said. “Say a prayer tonight that he’s allowed to travel ASAP…BIGGEST SHOW LOUISIANA HAS EVER SEEN.” BOOSIE BASH is Boosie’s hip-hop concert/festival, which he puts on for his hometown. Tyga Facing Arrest Warrant Over Failure To Pay Damages

(AllHipHop News) Tyga is reportedly facing an arrest warrant over his failure to pay $250,000 in compensation to a fan injured at one of his concerts. The “Rack City” rapper’s company Tyga Music, LLC, was ordered by a judge to pay damages of $236,000 to Shyanne Riekena in 2016, after she sustained head trauma and back injuries at a concert in Grand Rapids, Michigan. According to reports, a bench warrant has been issued for Tyga’s arrest due to his failure to show up in court to agree a plan to pay a sum that has increased to more than $250,000 with interest. Shyanne sued the 28-year-old star in 2015, claiming she was left with a four-inch gash on her head and back injuries when a light stand fell on her at a gig held at The Intersection venue in 2012. “I know that Tyga has a lot going on right now with other people but my situation happened five years ago so on the list of priority wise I should be taken care of,” Shyanne Riekena said. “This was a big incident, it caused a lot of chaos in my life and it’s been five years, so he needs to take this serious.” The judgment is one of a string of financial claims made against Tyga, real name Michael Ray Stevenson. Last March he was ordered to pay $65,000 after failing to appear at a gig and in 2016 he had to settle a $200,000 jewelry debt. He has also been accused of failing to pay car lease debts and falling behind on child support payments to Blac Chyna, the mother of his five-year-old son King Cairo.

Court Clerk Fired Over Letter Asking Meek For Cash

(AllHipHop News) A female Clerk of a court in Philadelphia has been fired for slipping Meek Mill a note pleading for financial help for her son’s college fees. Wanda Chavarria recently confirmed that she had made an appeal to Meek during his trial, but insisted Judge Brinkley was unaware of her supposed actions. The letter asked for money to pay for Chavarria’s son’s tuition to a college in Virginia, a request Meek denied. Meanwhile, key documents regarding a conversation rapper Meek Mill had with the judge overseeing his probation violation case have reportedly failed to prove the defense team’s allegations of bias. The incarcerated hip-hop star, real name Robert Williams, was sentenced to two-to-four years behind bars in November, for violating his probation relating to a 2008 drug and gun bust. His lawyers have been challenging what they insist was a harsh punishment, claiming Pennsylvania trial judge Genece Brinkley made the ruling in spite, after Meek allegedly laughed off her request for a shout-out in a song, and snubbed a suggestion to dump his management team at Jay-Z’s Roc Nation firm and sign with Philadelphia music figure Charlie Mack. The conversation was said to have taken place in chambers, on the record, and last week, another judge ruled the transcript of the hearing should be released to determine if Brinkley showed any signs of inappropriate judicial conduct. However, according to the court transcript, Judge Brinkley was not the one to comment on Meek’s music representation – it was supposedly his probation officer who instead recommended the rapper work with Mack. The officer is reported as saying, “What I like about Charlie, he is not invested in Meek Mills (sic). He is invested in Robert Williams.” The judge then made it clear she wanted nothing to do with the career advice, stating, “I don’t want the record to suggest who your management is or is not.” Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, has yet to comment on the apparent setback.

Logic Accused Of Posing As High School Student To Shoot Video

(AllHipHop News) Rap star Logic may be a Grammy award-winning artist now, but his hustle to get there has caused the rapper some trouble. Logic is accused of posing as a high-school student from Glen Cove High School, in order to shoot the video for his single Super Mario World.” According to IndieWire, Logic, his videographer and a cameraman approached Carolina Salguero, the director of the Mary A. Whalen oil tanker, which operates as a non-profit to benefit victims of hurricane disasters. Salguero said she received an email asking for permission to shoot the video on the 90-year-old tanker, but the videographer said it was for a high school project, in order to get around paying the $10,000 it would normally cost to shoot a full day at the location. Salguero said she believed the group’s story that Logic was a local high school artist shooting a project, even though he was already signed to Def Jam. “I looked at Logic; he’s so scrawny, I mistook him as a high school student,” Salguero said. “I thought the videographer was his dad, graying hair at the temples, and his friend was dressed in the beat-up Super Mario costume, I was busy and trusted I was helping high school students.” Reps for Logic are apparently attempting to make good and send the non-profit a payment for shooting Super Mario World,” which is approaching 11 million views on YouTube. https://www.google.com/sorry/index?continue=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoHKgj0zsTY&q=EgQs6lVwGM2Wg_kFIhkA8aeDS-vnpn9sA1SdQuWus3N14CLEteCNMgFy

Kodak Black Accused Of Jerking Promoters Out Of Hundreds Of Thousands

(AllHipHop News) Kodak Black is accused of swindling two promoters out of hundreds of thousands of dollars and now he’s facing a lawsuit. The rapper’s frequent arrests have landed him a pair of lawsuits, claiming he stiffed different promoters and skipped shows. One promoter named Corey Minniefield says Kodak cashed a $45,000 check last February to perform, but the rap star was busted for a probation violation on the same day he was supposed to perform. Kodak made the issue worse when he blew off the makeup date. The same thing happened to another promoter named Nicholas Fitts, who paid for a concert featuring the rapper on March 3, which Kodak missed because he was in jail. Kodak also missed the makeup date for that concert as well, because he was still locked up on the day the show was supposed to take place. Nicholas Fitts is suing Kodak Black for at least $123,000.

Cops In The UK Seek to Question Woman In Nelly Sexual Assault Claim

(AllHipHop News) Police in the United Kingdom are seeking out one of the women who claimed rap star Nelly sexually assaulted her. Nelly is embroiled in a legal battle with a woman named Monique Greene Greene insists the rapper raped her during a tour stop in Seattle Washington in October of 2017. Greene refused to press charges against the rapper over the publicity the case was generating. The police did their own investigation and subsequently refused to file any charges against Nelly. But Monique Greene filed a civil suit against the rapper, which contained two new claims from two different women in the U.K. One of the women claimed Nelly try to force her to have oral sex, and now cops in the U.K. want to know more. “Specially trained officers are now making contact with the solicitors in a bid to contact the victim to take a report,” a police source stated. The incident in question revolves around a woman presently only known as “Jane Doe 2.” She claims Nelly masturbated in front of her, against her will and tried to “force his e#### penis” into her mouth. Nelly’s longtime girlfriend Shantel Jackson has denied that incident took place, saying she was with Nelly backstage the entire time during the December 2017 show in question. Nelly has also filed a countersuit against Monique Greene, claiming the 22-year-old student is ruining his reputation and costing him valuable business.

Cardi B Joins Hillary Clinton At Grammys To Mock President Donald Trum

(AllHipHop News) Cardi B and Hillary Clinton mocked U.S. President Donald Trump at Sunday’s Grammy Awards by narrating passages from an explosive book about his administration. “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” Michael Wolff’s account of life working for America’s controversial leader, caused a sensation on its publication earlier this month, as the journalist accused Trump of being mentally unfit to lead America. In a skit aired during the Grammys broadcast host James Corden auditioned a number of star names to record an audiobook version of the tome in a bid to win an award for Best Spoken Word Album. His potential narrators were John Legend, Cher, Snoop Dogg, DJ Khaled and Cardi, who read out a passage on Trump retiring to bed early to gorge on cheeseburgers before saying, “Why am I even reading this s##t? I can’t believe this! This how he lives his life?” The final auditionee was his defeated opponent in the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton, who wryly read a section on Trump’s preference for eating at McDonald’s due to his alleged fear of being poisoned. Among the book’s other revelations, stars related were lines describing the President’s alleged refusal to read important briefings and his bizarre haircare regime. Trump has denied many of the accusations in Wolff’s book, which quotes former advisors including his ex-Chief Strategist Steve Bannon. The skit mocking the President came in for criticism from one member of his administration, his Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley. “I have always loved the Grammys but to have artists read the ‘Fire and Fury’ book killed it,” she wrote on Twitter. “Don’t ruin great music with trash. Some of us love music without the politics thrown in it.” Trump was also criticized from the stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden by a number of stars, including Cuban-American singer Camilla Cabello, who attacked his administration’s immigration policy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjbysQgJ64Y

Meek Mill Given New Hope For Sentence To Be Overturned

(AllHipHop News) A U.S. judge has given incarcerated rapper Meek Mill new hope for a possible release after ordering key documents in his probation violation case be made public. The rap star was sentenced to two-to-four years behind bars in November, for violating his probation relating to a 2008 drug and gun bust. His lawyers are appealing the harsh punishment, claiming trial judge Genece Brinkley was biased and handed him prison time after the rapper laughed off her request for a shout-out in a song. Meek also snubbed her suggestion to dump his management team at Jay-Zs Roc Nation firm and sign with Philadelphia music figure Charlie Mack. Mack, who previously worked with Meek early on in his career, has denied any links to Brinkley. According to lawyers, the discussion with Brinkley is said to have taken place in chambers, and was on the record. Now another judge has granted the release of the transcript to determine if Brinkley did show inappropriate judicial conduct, as alleged by Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina. If the claims are proven, it could pave the way for Meek to have his probation violation sentence overturned.

Jay-Z Ended Grammys Boycott To Support Beyonce In 2004

(AllHipHop News) Rap mogul Jay-Z only ended his years-long boycott of the Grammy Awards back in 2004 to support his then-girlfriend Beyonce. Jay shed some light on his absence from previous celebrations of music’s big night as he was honored at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala in New York City on Saturday when he received the 2018 Salute to Industry Icons Award. During his acceptance speech, which followed a medley of his hits performed by his “Empire State of Mind” collaborator Alicia Keys, the hip-hop pioneer explained he chose to snub his invite for the 1999 ceremony, where he won his first Grammy for Best Rap Album for Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life, because he didn’t agree with the shortlist selected by Recording Academy voters. “I had an album called Vol. II… And I was nominated for some awards,” he recalled. “There was another guy. His name was DMX, and he had released two albums the same year, they did like 900,000 (sales)… and he wasn’t nominated for any Grammys.” He continued to skip the annual prizegiving until Beyonce picked up six nominations for the 2004 ceremony following the release of her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, with three of the nods recognizing the couple’s#### tune, “Crazy in Love.” Referring to his now-wife, who was seated in the audience, as “a beautiful young lady, whom I love dearly,” he shared, “My first time coming back, six years later, (was) for the Crazy in Love album with the beautiful Miss Beyonce.” However, Jay-Z also admitted he eventually reevaluated his stance on the awards show because he realized the nominations were all “super subjective,” and he could use his position in the industry to encourage change from within. “We can pretend that we don’t care, but we really care – we care because we see the most incredible stand on those stages, and we aspire to be that,” he said. “So I realized: I had to be there. That is the idea, for us to all get involved and to push this thing further. “No matter what happens at the Grammys, it’s going to be what it is: Bob Marley’s gonna be Bob Marley whether he’s nominated for a Grammy or not. Tupac is gonna be Tupac. Biggie is gonna be Biggie. That’s true. But in this industry… the things that we hold and we love and we treasure, that we respect, we have to get involved.”

Officials Now Investigating Court Clerk And Letter Sent To Meek Mill

(AllHipHop News) A letter sent to Meek Mill begging him for money by the Clerk of a Philadelphia court during his sentencing hearing has triggered an official investigation. Wanda Chavarria, the clerk of the court which sentenced Meek to 2-4 years in prison for violating his probation, asked the rap star for money to pay her son’s college tuition at Virginia Commonwealth University. Chavarria passed the note to Meek during his probation hearing in November, asking to the rapper to help pay for her son’s schooling. Meek Mill refused to give up any money and now investigators are investigating the circumstances surrounding the note, and how such an act could have happened in Judge Genece Brinkley’s courtroom. Meek Mill and his lawyers have claimed Judge Genece Brinkley asked him to rerecord a Boyz II Men tribute song in her honor, in addition to asking her to drop Roc Nation as his management.

Rihanna Is The Grammy Awards Biggest Meme Star

(AllHipHop News) Rihanna found herself the biggest meme star of the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, thanks to the raunchy dance moves during her performance of “Wild Thoughts.” The 29-year-old star looked stunning in a flowing pink dress as she took to the stage inside New York’s Madison Square Garden to perform the tune alongside DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller. During the routine, Rihanna narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction as she performed the Gwara Gwara, a South African dance made popular by DJ Bongz, alongside around 50 dancers. As she gyrated and moved to the music, the Barbadian star stuck her tongue out and pulled some hilarious facial expressions – which led to fans using the images to create memes. Among the themes were many food-related jokes, with captions including “When she hungry and finally get some food” accompanying a clip of Rihanna sexily dancing. DJ Bongz told local outlet TshisaLIVE that he is thrilled Rihanna’s performance drew more attention to the Gwara Gwara, explaining: “I created the dance from scratch and it feels so special to have it shown on an international stage like the Grammys. It shows that Africa can make a big impact on international dance. “I don’t know what the next step is but I know it will be become bigger. This is a great moment for both me and South Africa.” Not everybody was impressed with Rihanna’s performance, however, as some commented on the singer’s apparently curvier than usual figure – body shaming her in the process. Many speculated she might be pregnant, with one writing: “Rihanna looking a little pregnant up on that stage #Grammys2018.” Another added: “I don’t think Rihanna is pregnant I just don’t think she’s missing no meals.” https://www.instagram.com/p/BeieyY2F_Fg/?tagged=rihanna https://www.instagram.com/p/BeieOIogX54/?tagged=rihanna https://www.instagram.com/p/BeialJdHA12/?tagged=rihanna https://www.instagram.com/p/BeiaJ0cnREp/?tagged=rihanna
