Company Hits E-40 With Countersuit In War Over “Captain Save A Hoe”

(AllHipHop News) Rapper E-40 has been hit with a countersuit as he fights the author of a book named after his 1993 hit “Captain Save A Hoe.” The hip-hop star, real name Earl Stevens, initially claimed that writer Erika Kane and her publishers were ripping off the character he created and owns the rights to, accusing them of unfairly profiting from his work. Stevens’ filing also stated that his “Captain Save a Hoe” trademark, which was filed in 2014 but has yet to be approved, includes clothing and entertainment services specified as “an ongoing series featuring comedy, action, and adventure provided through television, online webcasts and radio broadcasts.” He asked a judge to pull the recently-released books from retailers and award him proceeds from sales to date. Now, Vodka & Milk Publishing officials have filed a counterclaim, in which they allege that Stevens’ trademark requests are incomplete, and his rights do not cover the “Captain Save a Hoe” trademark in books. They also allege that customers of the book series and fans of E-40 are different enough that there wouldn’t be any confusion, or cause anyone to think the books came from the rapper. Vodka & Milk Publishing are seeking damages against Stevens, following his alleged requests that online retailer Amazon take the book down from its website. These requests are said to have caused Amazon to remove the book from sale, leading to other retail outlets stopping ordering the book. They claim they have been caused “irreparable injury, financial damage, and loss of income,” all of which they want to be proven at trial. Stevens’ attorney told Billboard.com they are planning to file a motion to dismiss the countersuit.

Rapper Gunplay Sued Over Alleged Beatdown

(AllHipHop News) Rapper and reality TV star Gunplay is facing a new lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend following an alleged attack on New Year’s Day. The “Love and Hip Hop: Miami” star is said to have exchanged heated words with Aneka Johnston at Florida adult club The Office, where she works as a stripper, in the early hours of 1 January after he arrived with his current girlfriend, Keyara. Gunplay, real name Richard Morales, Jr., is then said to have waited in the parking lot for Johnston’s shift to end, before reportedly confronting her and head-butting his ex. She suffered bruising to her face and neck, and a scratched cornea, and subsequently filed a police report about the alleged incident. Criminal charges are currently being weighed by prosecutors at the Florida State Attorney’s office, but now Johnston has also taken civil action against the rapper, who is signed to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group. According to reports, Aneka Johnston has filed papers in Miami-Dade County court, claiming Gunplay was also “known to act violently” towards her throughout their two-year relationship, which ended in 2012. She blames his “harmful and destructive behavior” for breaking off their romance, and is now suing for battery over the strip club incident, seeking punitive damages for bodily injury, mental anguish, and pain and suffering. Her attorney, Mark DiCowden, told TheBlast that “Gunplay has a long history of committing violence and domestic abuse. He has made a living out of glorifying crime and harmful conduct on people, including women. “Ms. Johnston was working and didn’t deserve to be attacked. She has previously been a victim of Gunplay’s domestic violence and ended her relationship with him years ago because of his ongoing abuse.” DiCowden hopes the lawsuit will “send Gunplay a message and deter his misbehavior in the future”. The MC has yet to respond to the battery allegations or the lawsuit.

Ray J’s Manager Slams Lawsuit Over Scooter Business

(AllHipHop News) Singer and reality TV regular Ray J is slamming allegations he stole the idea for a scooter business, insisting he came up with the concept on his own. Jean Paul is suing the One Wish star for $30 million, claiming they discussed launching an electric scooter bike business in 2015 and Ray J offered to become an investor and celebrity endorser. However, Paul claims Ray J went on to start a competing scooter business without him and he is now suing him, according to TMZ. In November, the 36-year-old signed a $31 million wholesale deal for his electric transportation company, Raycon. Ray J’s company, famous for the Scoot-E-Bike, was formed the same year Paul claims he talked to the singer about launching their brand together. The Mets Offer 50 Cent A Chance To Redeem Himself After Awful Pitch

(AllHipHop News) Rap star 50 Cent is being courted by the MLB to redeem himself after throwing what could be the worst first pitch in professional baseball’s history. 50’s terrible pitch went viral in May of 2014 when he was the guest of honor during a Mets Game game at Citi Field. The rapper threw the first pitch of the game, which turned out to be an epic fail. Now, the New York Mets want to give 50 a chance to redeem himself with a new offer to toss out the first pitch during a game. Even though his pitch flopped the rapper was a good sport about it in follow-up interviews. “I had no idea that throwing a bad pitch would be so big. It was coming across CNN! ESPN, CNN,” 50 Cent said during an interview promoting his new movie “Den Of Thieves.” “I was like, whoa, not the way I want things out here at the moment when I’m getting ready to run this music and I’m on CNN and it looks like my arm’s broken. I’m like, ‘What the [expletive] happened to me?’” the rapper said. According to sources, 50 probably won’t bite, since he’s waiting for a bigger stage to redeem himself – the World Series. So far, 50 has yet to reveal whether he would accept the New York Mets’ new offer, but it seems doubtful according to the rapper. “Listen, no one warned me,” 50 Cent said. “No one said: ‘Risk versus reward!’ I would have kept my a** in the stands. This is never going away.”

Chuck D’s House Still Standing After Wildfires

(AllHipHop News) Chuck D has reassured fans his house survived the recent wildfires in California, despite reports it had burned to the ground. His old Public Enemy bandmate Flavor Flav alleged in a lawsuit that Chuck’s mansion had fallen victim to the Thomas fire – the largest blaze in California history. However, a representative for Chuck, real name Carlton Douglas Ridenhour, said his home has not burnt down. “He is heartsick over the losses the people of Ventura and its surrounding areas continue to endure,” a rep said. On Twitter, the 57-year-old rapper revealed the truth to a concerned fan – that he had merely been evacuated to escape toxic fumes and potential mudslides. Flav, real name William Jonathan Drayton Jr, is reportedly suing Chuck for playing old Public Enemy songs on tour with his new supergroup Prophets of Rage – formed with members of metal group Rage Against The Machine. Legal documents stated that his lawyers were unable to serve Chuck with Flav’s complaint as his “home burned down in the fire.” The Thomas fire, which has destroyed more than 1,000 buildings, is still smoldering, but Los Angeles Fire Department officials say it is now 90 percent under control. Heavy rainfall in the wake of the fires has led to mudslides, which have killed at least 17 and threatened the homes of several celebrities, including Rob Lowe, Oprah Winfrey, and Ellen DeGeneres. Oprah’s Santa Barbara estate has been particularly hard hit, as she revealed in a video on Instagram captioned, “Woke up to this blazing gas fire. then swipe left to see how deep the mud is in my backyard. Helicopters rescuing my neighbors. Looking for missing persons. 13 lives lost. #Mudslides.”

Lil Wayne Believes It Is Impossible He Fathered Woman’s Son

(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne has denied he slept with a woman who has won child support from the star after a court ruled he is the father of her teenage son. Wayne is adamant he is not the father of a 15-year-old boy, named Dwayne after him, and has signed a declaration in a bid to open a new trial, denying that he ever slept with Keiotia Watson, reported The Blast. In October 2017 Watson filed legal documents claiming she had a physical relationship with the “Lollipop” star in June 2001 and she subsequently gave birth to a son in February 2002. After going to court, two years ago, to establish paternity of Dwayne a judge ruled in her favor after he failed to respond to the case and ordered the rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, Jr., to pay her $5,000 a month and to cover the child’s medical insurance. Now, the rapper has reportedly signed a declaration stating, “I did not engage in a sexual relationship with Keiotia Watson in June of 2001 or at any other time…. I do not believe it is possible that I am the biological father of Dwayne Brown. I have never acknowledged Dwayne Brown as my son, nor was I ever made aware of his birth until I was served with the petition” filed in August. “I am the loving father of four (4) children, all of whom I provided support for since birth. Up until now, I have never been involved in a child support case,” he added. Wayne is now demanding a new trial after claiming in the newly filed documents, that he was never served with the legal papers, and he is requesting the court order a paternity test, and asking the court to set aside the monthly support which was due to start in January. The judge set a hearing for next month and ordered Watson to appear.
