Seleah Simone

Seleah Simone is all things entertainment and lifestyle — from hosting, to acting, to fashion--and a sprinkle of activism. With an array of aspects that make up the brand of “Seleah”, Ms. Simone refuses to be put in a box. Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Seleah embarked on her evolving career immediately after graduating with a B.A. in Television and Radio from Brooklyn College.

As a lifestyle editor and blogger, Seleah has contributed to RapTV, Allhiphop.com, Guest of A Guest, Ladygunn, Today.com, The American Museum of Natural History and The Hip Hop Diaries.

In 2017, Seleah completed her first book titled, “The Fashion Commandmeants.”

When she's not prepping for an interview or a red carpet, you might find her binge-watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians or seeking great finds at thrift and consignment shops.

Who Is Seleah Simone?

Seleah Simone had always been industry adjacent. She always knew someone who knew someone- who would get her into A list events and parties. She obtained a bachelors in television and radio from Brooklyn College. Yet, despite networking and sending out resumes for over 4 years, she couldn’t land a job in the media.  She was smart, charismatic and even over qualified. None of this would help her land the job of her dreams as a red carpet host. It wouldn’t be until her best friend made an introduction to one of the owners of Allhiphop.com in 2015 that things would change.  Seleah knew this could be the chance she needed to finally get her foot in the door. Once on the phone with The contact, she immediately began to pitch him the idea of having a red carpet host represent the company at major events. “You guys are missing out on valuable content! This could take your company to the next level!”  The owner was very much intrigued. He wanted to give her a shot. She knew the MTV music awards was coming up and was hoping to get on the carpet. The owner agreed to apply on her behalf. One month later- Seleah was on her first red carpet.  From that experience, Seleah knew that she had to sharpen her skill of pitching. This would be the only way she would continue to land jobs in the industry. In fact- this is how she landed her gig as a producer at TMZ. For journalists like Seleah – she suggests going to the direct source, pitching yourself and letting know why you would be a good asset to the company. What to Expect From Power Book 3: Raising Kanan

AllHipHop sat down with the cast of Starz newest feature, Power Book III: Raising Kanan. Raising Kanan is the third installment in the expanding “Power” franchise. The prequel takes viewers back to the ‘90s and the early years of the now-deceased iconic “Power” character Kanan Stark, portrayed by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in the original series. The cast also includes Omar Epps (“House,” Love and Basketball) as Detective Malcolm Howard.  What’s Next For The Power Universe? 50 cent has turned into quite the television mogul. With his Power Universe thriving, he’ll be introducing yet another series titled BMF. BMF follows the Black Mafia Family, a drug and money laundering organization.  Black Mafia Family has wrapped and will be premiering on Starz on September 26. As for Power Book 2, a new teaser for the Power franchise has confirmed that the Ghost spin-off show will be debuting its second season in November. From Stacey To Skully- A Chat With De’Aundre Bonds

When you think of Los Angeles, many things come to mind. People like Tupac, movies like Boyz N Da Hood, and maybe even the Hollywood sign come to thought. Yet, over the last few years- you could even add FX Network’s Snowfall to the list of things that are reminiscent of LA. No place seems to epitomize the “gangsta” lifestyle more than Los Angeles. The character Skully, played by actor De’Aundre Bonds embodies the true “LA Outlaw.”  De’Aundre Bonds is quite a prolific actor. As Skully – he masterfully displays his acting chops. He’s very convincing in this role- so believable. Yet, could this gangster portrayal just be him channeling his real-life persona?  Born and raised in South Central, Bonds was the oldest of six children. With Hollywood in his backyard, he knew at an early age he wanted to become an actor. A chance meeting on Hollywood Blvd would jump-start his career. We’ve all watched De’Aundre play captivating roles throughout the years. His career spans over two decades. From his first movie, Tales From The Hood -to his role as Stacey in The Wood, he has given so much. With each role, he reels us in. Yet, there’s still so much to know about this mystical figure.  Here are five things you didn’t know about the incomparable Bonds- De’Aundre Bonds that is. As a kid- Bonds sold candy in Hollywood to earn a living. While hustling candy- he met a casting director who ultimately helped him land his first role.  De’Aundre was hand-picked for the role of Skully on Snowfall by the show’s creator, John Singleton. He initially met John Singleton while filming a scene for The Wood. Bonds was also hand-selected by Denzel Washington to play alongside Derek Luke in Antwone Fisher. He was unable to fulfill the movie due to legal troubles.  De’Aundre’s least favorite role was Dre in the movie Lockdown. Allhiphop’s Seleah Simone sat down to chat with De’aundre Bonds as he further divulged details surrounding his career, working on the hit show Snowfall and so much more in an exclusive interview. Check it out below.

SnowFall: Filming Without John & Deets On This Season

Allhiphop had the pleasure of attending an exclusive press conference for the season 4 premiere of the hit drama series, Snowfall. The cast and producers take us through what it was like filming without the shows creator, John Singleton, filming through a pandemic and what’s to come this season. “I just hoped we’d get the pilot picked up,” states Damson Idris as he recalls being cast as Franklin Saint. He expressed there was that uncertainty- where would this show go? Four seasons later, Idris admits that as his character Franklin evolved, so has his acting skills. As the audience watched a young Franklin dive headfirst in the drug game- we’ve seen him transform into a thriving leader. In season four of Snowfall, it’s January 1, 1985, and Ronald Reagan has just won his re-election campaign. The demand for crack cocaine is high, and while our crew of dealers led by Franklin Saint is benefiting from those addicted to crack cocaine- they are also starting to become aware of the damage the drug is doing to the people and to the place they love. As the entire nation is watching, the LAPD is spending a large budget and resources on the “war on drugs.” Politicians’ phones are ringing. There are powerful people who are concerned. From the hallways of the White House to those of CIA headquarters, people are whispering. They believe one of their own may be involved in this burgeoning epidemic. This season Franklin will be forced to emerge from his near-grave to try and regain control over his business and end the rising gang violence in the streets before it becomes an all-out war. Idris states “Franklin is no James Bond. He won’t always win- sometimes he’ll lose.” Watch our exclusive interview below. Tune into Snowfall on FX every Wednesday.
