Lil Wayne Shares Details of Suicide Attempt Aged 12

Lil Wayne made a recent, very candid appearance on Emmanuel Acho’s “Uncomfortable Conversations’ podcast. The superstar rapper opened up about his childhood experiences and reveals a suicide attempt.  The five-time-Grammy-Winning artist told the TV host about his mental health struggles. He described an incident when he was 12 years old and shot himself in the chest.  Lil Wayne says his mental health issues go back to when he was just 10 years old. A couple of years later at the age of 12, his mother, Jacida Carter found out that he was skipping school. The fear that she would tell him to quit rapping led him to attempt to take his own life.   Wayne recounts calling the police and then getting his mother’s gun from her bedroom. He was too scared to shoot himself in the head so he shot himself in the chest, aiming for his heart. It was painless and he awoke to the police banging on the door.   He describes the relationship with his mother after his suicide attempt. “What I never said was: The mom that I knew before that day… I have never met or seen or heard that lady again in my life,” Wayne stated. “So I didn’t die that day, but somebody was gone. She’s never been that way [again].”   The rapper explains that he’s hoping to help anyone else out there who’s struggling with their mental health” by “being vulnerable” and “brave” and sharing his journey.”  The New Orleans police officer who saved his life has spoken to TMZ who says the rapper has got his back for life.  Robert Hoobler, “Uncle Bob” to Lil Wayne, says he saw Weezy in 2019. Wayne told Bob if he ever needs anything all he has to do is say the word. He offered to provide Bob with financial support if he ever needed it.   Bob has never had to take up the offer. However, there is a possibility he could join Lil Wayne’s team in an administrative capacity.   Wayne says although his struggles with mental health did not disappear with money or fame, he is now in a better place, happy doing what he loves. He uses prayer to help him manage his emotions and is happiest when performing, creating, and helping people.   If you or someone you know is affected by any of the issues raised in this story or experiencing suicidal thoughts, call 911, or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or text Crisis Text Line at 741741.

Sha’Carri Richardson To Race Jamaican Olympic Medallists In Oregon

She may have lost out on the opportunity to compete in the 2021 Olympics but Sha’Carri Richardson still has the chance to race against the fastest women in the world. A failed drug test scuppered Sha’Carri’s chances of racing in the 100 meters at the Olympics in Tokyo. However, she will have a chance to run against the Jamaican trio who scooped all the medals at the event. Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson will all be running the 100 meters at next week’s Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.  The sprinter has become quite the icon with her trademark long nails, long lashes, and fiery orange hair. Her story broke hearts worldwide after losing out on her dream to race in the Olympics. She had been touted as the U.S Team’s poster girl in the games after posting a blazing 10.86 in the 100 at the U.S. Olympic Trials.  In an agreement between Sha’Carri and the U.S Doping Agency, Sha’Carri received a one-month suspension. Although the suspension ended before the 100 meters was run in Tokyo, her time at trials was invalidated. This left her without a spot on the team.    Sha’Carri disclosed that her suspension for a positive cannabis test came after smoking it following the death of her mother. Despite cannabis being legal in Oregon where her trial took place, it’s on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s list of banned substances. A conversation has now rightly arisen questioning whether cannabis should still be a banned substance.   As well as the Jamaican medal winners, three other competitors from the 00m final in Tokyo will also be racing. Fourth-place finisher Marie-Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast, sixth-place finisher Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland. Teahna Daniels of the United States who finished in seventh-place also competes.  True to form, Sha’Carri is taking it in her stride and treating it like any other race. Renaldo Nemiah, Richardson’s agent, told the Wall Street Journal “Sha’Carri is focused on running a good race since she last competed at the US Olympic Trials.” He carried on, “she will be focused on executing her race to the best of her ability regardless of who is in the race.”  Good luck Sha’Carri, we’re rooting for you!

Drake Hints He’s Back in the Booth for Certified Loverboy

Hip-Hop fans are currently playing the waiting game when it comes to projects from two of the biggest superstars in the rap game. Both Kanye West’s Donda and Drake’s Certified Lover Boy were slated for release on August 6. Both projects are yet to materialize.   Drake took to his Instagram stories to tease us with a picture of him in the studio suggesting he is still recording music for his latest project. Always in sync with team OVO, LeBron James also hopped on his Instagram stories sharing a video of him in a Certified Lover X OVO shirt, further hinting the album is on its way.   At the end of July, the Canadian rapper informed us: “the album is cooked.” and sent out a warning telling fans and fellow rappers alike, “Certified Lover Boy is on the way and that’s for anyone in the way.”  Drake also posted a pic of a set of golf clubs to his Instagram stories. Is it a coincidence that Drake also posted an image of himself on the golf course back in 2019 with the caption “Album Mode”? Maybe…however, it may not be the best omen. Whatever album Drake was working on back then was never released, though it was reported to be coming at the end of 2019.   Hopefully, fans will not have much longer to wait!

Eminem’s Child, Stevie, Comes Out as Non-binary

Eminem’s 19-year-old child has come out as non-binary and is now going by the name of Stevie Laine in a move supported by family and friends. Stevie revealed the news in a series of Instagram and TikTok posts. They were met with a flood of messages of love and support from her followers and well-wishers. The rapper’s child removed all posts from their Instagram feed and started fresh with a clean slate and showing off their new peroxide blond pixie cut. In the first post, they wrote out their pronouns, telling fans: “call me Stevie (they/she/he),” which was liked by sister Hailie Jade, Eminem’s biological daughter with ex-wife Kim. On TikTok, they posted a video cataloging their transformation over the years with the words: “Watch me become more comfortable with myself,” and “forever growing and changing.” They used the hashtags #genderfluid #bi and #nonbinary in several posts. Stevie is the daughter of Eminem’s ex-wife Kim Scott and her former boyfriend Eric Hatter. They got together during a break in Kim and Eminem’s relationship, and he adopted Stevie when they reconciled. The Detroit rapper first married Kim back in 1999, and they divorced two years later. They tied the knot once more in January 2006 but the marriage again did not last and they divorced again a few months later. Stevie’s biological father Eric was a professional tattoo artist who died last year at the age of 40. Stevie was raised alongside the “Slim Shady” rapper’s daughter Hailie, now 25, and adopted daughter Alaina, now 28. Alain’s mother is Kim’s late sister Dawn who tragically died of a drug overdose back in 2016. All three children are regularly featured in their father’s music. The family will be glad to have some good news to celebrate following the passing of their grandmother Kathy last month. Mother Kim was rushed to hospital shortly after her mother’s death, reportedly for attempting suicide.

Meek Mill Receives Humanitarian Award And Ends Up Beefing With Tory Lanez

Meek Mill’s has been recognized by the Nelson Mandela Foundation and took to Instagram to celebrate posting a picture with the caption “Blessings.. I got “the Nelson Mandela humanitarian award” Thankyou Rip to the great Nelson Mandela”. He continued “ I ain’t grow up playing ball I had a smith & western* because where I’m from it’s very hard to turn 27” #survivors “ Pictured is the award and a Dream Chasers necklace highlighting the journey the Philly rapper has been on. Following very public struggles with the criminal justice system, Meek has been at the forefront of spearheading reform.   Meek helped to co-found the REFORM Alliance with Michael Rubin and Jay Z, an organization whose mission aims to transform probation and parole by changing laws, systems and culture to create real pathways to work and wellbeing. The Dreams and Nightmares rapper has also worked with Virginia Governor Ralph Northam working to reform the state’s probation bill.  Meek’s fans and supporters responded in the comments with their congratulations and pride. However, not everyone was quick to congratulate the rapper! Canadian artist Tory Lanez took a jab at Meek, commenting only to correct Meek’s spelling in the caption.     “Smith & Wesson,” he wrote in the comment section. Meek fired back with, “@torylanez It’s called ‘meek flow’ say congrats or something weirdo lol.”   Not content to leave it there, Lanez claps back with “@meekmill it wasn’t that deep … just ain’t want u to look dumb. Congrats tho bozo” Meek has yet to respond to claims Tory Lanez stole his flow on the track “When Its Dark (E-NFT) 8-10-21′ Freestyle,” a diss to fellow Philly rapper, Cassidy. First Tory stole his flow now he’s trying to steal his joy! Meek seems unbothered and instead dropped his “Mandela Freestyle.”
