Freeway Ricky Ross Details Autobiographical Book With Journalist Cathy Scott

(AllHipHop News) Former drug Kingpin “Freeway” Ricky Ross has announced details about an upcoming autobiography, with acclaimed investigative journalist Cathy Scott. The book focuses on the story of Freeway Ricky Ross, who was one of Los Angeles’s biggest drug traffickers in the late 1980s and early 1990s, running a coast-to-coast $600 million drug operation. “It will be directly from my mouth as you read it,” Freeway Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com. “It will be the story no one knows, my rise and fall, the connections, exclusives on my involvement in the entertainment industry at my height and how the cocaine trade as we know it blossomed.” Freeway Rick’s drug empire, which was connected to the infamous Iran/Contra scandal, was dismantled by the government when he was sentenced to life in prison in 1996. The life sentenced was overturned on a legal technicality and Ross eventually spent 20 years in prison for his drug-related crimes. Cathy Scott, who wrote books on the murders of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, will help Freeway Rick tell his story. “It will cover the early 1970’s through the 90’s likely. Much of it is from me scribing while in prison, but Cathy and I will flesh it out together. I expect it to be a big seller.” Freeway Rick, who will be featured in an investigative piece on the cocaine trade in the October issue of Esquire, said his autobiography will drop in 2014. Chicago Police Investigating Threats Against Rick Ross

(AllHipHop News) Chicago police are investigating threats against Hip-Hop star Rick Ross. TMZ.com reports that the Chicago Police Department opened an investigation into threats made against the rapper by the gangster disciples. Although Rick Ross brushed off the threats in a recent interview, the Chicago Police Department appear to be taking the threats very serious. The CPD is already dealing with escalating tensions and retaliatory murders between the Gangster Disciples, and the Black Gangster Disciples, over the recent killing of Joseph “Lil JoJo” Coleman. Coleman, who was associated with the Gangster Disciples, was beefing with Chief Keef and members of his Glory Boyz collective when he was killed. Although Coleman’s murderer has not been found, he was killed in an area frequented by the Black Gangster Disciples. “If you think Rick Ross is running scared, think again,” Rick Ross said during a recent interview on WDER. “I canceled the rest of the tour due to the promoter, he wasn’t really handling his business.” In a recent interview, Rick Ross appeared to be unfazed by the threats against him, which come from Gangster Disciples in places like Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Chicago, Colorado, Tennessee and Georgia. The rapper also appeared to taunt his detractors in the interview, with his own threat of violence. “Any dude can stand in a crowd with 30 or 40 dudes and everybody real, everybody trill, everybody’s about that life, everybody gangsta. But when the choppers [AK-47’s] come out, everybody fold. “Ricky Rozay is a boss. I’m certified worldwide, I could put a thousand gangstas in any hood. Rich is gangsta. loyal is gangsta, family is gangsta. If that’s not gangsta I don’t want to be a gangsta. I’m a boss, I’ll go anywhere so don’t get it twisted.”
