(AllHipHop News) Event officials announced today (April 26) that both Jay-Z and Rihanna will be two of the headlining acts for this year’s Hackney Weekend, as part of the 2012 Olympic Games taking place in London this summer.
BusinessWeek is reporting that “The pair will star in the BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012 (June 23-24) a month before the Games, said organizers of the Olympics cultural festival, releasing the program at a news conference today.”
Jeremy Hunt, British film director and Secretary of State for culture, media and sports spoke at the news conference this morning and said, “There will be absolutely something for everyone: from Beethoven to Jay-Z, from Shakespeare to Mike Leigh.”
According to BusinessWeek, “other headliners of Hackney Weekend — set to draw an estimated 100,000 fans — are Florence + the Machine, Jack White, David Guetta and Tinie Tempah.”
Hackney Weekend takes place on June 23-24, while the 2012 Olympic Games will kick off on July 27 and run until August 12.
