(AllHipHop News) For many music listeners the stand out moment on Kendrick Lamar’s new album, To Pimp A Butterfly, was the “interview” between the Black Hippy member and the late Hip Hop icon Tupac Shakur. Kendrick resurrected Pac at the end of the closing track “Mortal Man.”

It turns out, Pac was going to play an even bigger role on the project. Speaking with MTV, K. Dot explained how his sophomore studio album was close to being called To Pimp A Caterpillar – 2.P.A.C.
“That was the original point once I got the interview,” said Kendrick. “Me changing it to ‘butterfly’ – I just really wanted to show the brightness of life, and the word ‘pimp’ has so much aggression. That represents several things. For me, it represents using my celebrity for good. Another reason is not being pimped by the industry through my celebrity.”
