Sheek Louch Calls Out Rappers Rhyming On 90’s Tracks On New Song “Memory Lane” (AUDIO)

THE LOX MEMBER HAS WORDS FOR EMCEES THAT DON’T KNOW THEIR HISTORY

(AllHipHop News) Sheek Louch is set to return with the new project Silverback Gorilla 2 later this year. Before The Lox member lets loose the sequel to 2008’s Silverback Gorilla, he drops the new song “Memory Lane.”

Most of the record features Sheek reminiscing on his Hip Hop past like conversing with The Notorious B.I.G. and listening to Rakim, but “Memory Lane” starts off with a subliminal shot at a rapper (or rappers) apparently unaware of the history of the culture.

“I heard your album, that sh*t is wack. I’m bringing it back. You ain’t hot because you’re rhyming on a 90’s track. Learn your history, at least know who beat that is. Is it Kool G, Lyte, or Milk & Giz?” rhymes Sheek.

In recent years, there have been quite a few emcees that have embraced the sounds of the 1990’s Hip Hop era. Since Sheek Louch does not specifically name anyone on “Memory Lane” there is no way to know if it was directed at someone in particular or just a general statement to the entire game.
