Under the new deal, Simmons’ All Def Digital will create and develop television projects for HBO. Simmons and the subscription channel currently have five projects in the works. ADD is handling 3 of the five productions.
All Def Digital is set to produce the comedy series These Are My Friends and The Broken Lizard Show. The partnership will also include Simmons producing a Def Comedy Jam 25th anniversary special.
“HBO has been like a home to me for a generation,” stated Simmons. “I am enormously proud of the broad range of programming they have nurtured. Together, we have discovered new voices and helped launch emerging artists that deserved a mainstream platform. I am even more excited by the next generation of talent and shows that we are developing through All Def Digital TV.”
Simmons is listed as an executive producer on the forthcoming 6-episode series Codes of Conduct. The show is being developed by 12 Years A Slave director Steve McQueen.
