Martin Shkreli, 32, became an instant celebrity when he purchased a one-of-one album Wu Tang album and then proclaimed he wanted to bail out Bobby Shmurda. Today, the FBI arrested him.
The pharmaceutical entrepreneur, loathed for raising an HIV drug from $13.50 per pill to $750, was arrested by agents Thursday morning for securities fraud-related infractions. The feds say Shkreli illegally took stock from Retrophin Inc., a company he started in 2011, and paid debts to other businesses unrelated to Retrophin.
He was later ejected from the company.
Shkreli’s lawyer has no responded to inquiries from other media.
Shkreli recently threatened RZA over the $2-million priced Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, sided with Action Bronson and offered to bail out Bobby Shmurda. He said Shmurda’s release would be conditional and said that the young rapper would have to perform or record in exchange for his debt.
Some fans of Wu rejoiced on social media.
