Migos Deny They Are Homophobic After Comments About ILoveMakonnen’s Sexuality

MIGOS CLARIFY COMMENTS ON ILOVEMAKONNEN’S SEXUALITY

(AllHipHop News) Migos have denied they are homophobic, clarifying remarks they made about fellow musician ILoveMakonnen’s sexuality.

The Atlanta, Georgia rapper, real name Makonnen Sheran, revealed he was gay last month in an emotional statement posted on Twitter.

Migos members Quavo, Offset and Takeoff were asked about iLoveMakonnen’s coming out in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, and made remarks that were reported as being critical of his sexuality.

“Damn, Makonnen! They supported him?” Quavo questioned, before Offset added, “That’s because the world is f##ked up” and Takeoff said, “This world is not right.”

Quavo then went on to query whether the rapper would lose credibility as a result of his sexuality.

In a statement issued on Twitter, the group denied their remarks were homophobic, instead claiming they were commenting on the way gay people were treated by society.

“We are all fans of Makonnen’s music and we wish he didn’t feel like he ever had to hide himself,” the statement read. “We feel the world is f##ked up that people have to hide and we’re asked to comment on someone’s sexuality. We love all people, gay or straight and we apologize if we offended anyone.”

Migos have soared to the top of the U.S. charts, with their track “Bad and Boujee” hitting the number one spot in January.
