(AllHipHop News) Future’s back-to-back weekly album releases have cemented the Atlanta rapper in the history books.
Besides being the first artist to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 in consecutive weeks, Future also joined eight other acts on the list of performers to hold the #1 and #2 spots on the album chart simultaneously.
According to Billboard, the creator of the FUTURE and HNDRXX albums is the first person to achieve that feat since Prince dominated the top two spots with The Very Best of Prince and Purple Rain after his death last year.
Prior to The Purple One, it was another rapper, Nelly, that was the last act to have the #1 and #2 albums in the country with Suit and Sweat in 2004.
Future is also the first act to replace himself at #1 since Simon & Garfunkel in 1968 (non-debuts), and he is the first solo artist to ever knock himself out of the pole position.
HNDRXX is the current leader on the Billboard 200 with 121,000 equivalent album units earned.
FUTURE dropped to second place following a first-week opening of 140,000 equivalent album units.
The Freebandz frontman now has five number ones in his career – DS2, EVOL, What a Time to Be Alive, FUTURE, and HNDRXX.
