Riz (blog): A Meeting With Jay-Z & Reality

going on world this week was cool full of REALITY.

Sometimes you feel like your so close when in actuality your so far.

i’ve been trying to get into this industry for a very longtime and I’m

still trying to get in, to this very day. Many people see my videos and

hear my records and think that I’m already on and that is not the case.

Somedays i want to walk away from the music industry because there are

so many people with there eyes GREEN and

they could careless about the artist & what the artist actually goes

through. It even gets to the point where the artist isn’t even allowed

to be an artist. The very reason that I even record music is to express

myself, paint pictures of what I live, my reality and its like an uphill

battle when your reality isn’t good enough for someone else. How

could I ever be an individual when what makes me who i am isn’t good

reason I haven’t walked away from the music industry is because i was

born with a gift and I’m no quitter. Besides those two reasons my story

hasn’t been heard yet and I will not be satisfied until it is. People

always used to tell me that the music industry was cut throat & that

there were a lot of snakes & I used to ignore them but what they

were saying was absolutely true. Money serves to be the driving force

for those who are misfortunate but unbelievably talented so there faced

with decisions where it becomes take it or leave it. I speak from

experience not from speculation but in life I guess you have to LOSE to GAIN.

process of trying to gain what’s most important is that you don’t lose

yourself. The music industry is getting smaller by the day you barely

hear of new artist and when you do there signed to a artist or major

record labels who have the machine to promote them on a mass scale all

at cost. At a meeting that I had with JAY-Z I sat

in one room with about six individuals some waiting while others

debating on rather if I had what it took be a STAR,

when I look back & think of the talks about 360 deals I realized

exactly how hard it actually is to be an artist in todays music

industry. None the less I’m still striving to get a record deal in hopes

of taking a positive turn in my life. When you have responsibilities

like a three year old daughter to support for the rest of your natural

life sacrifice becomes all you know. That’s my moral dilemma so in

saying that i just go with the flow but always conscious of whose around

me and what is going on around me and if your an artist or just a human

being you should do the same.
