(AllHipHop News) Alicia Keys set off the Official Inaugural Ball by tweaking one of her hit song’s to mark the occasion.
She crooned, “Obama’s on fire!” to the tune of her song “Girl On Fire” before a large group of Barack Obama supporters.
And, the New York-bred songstress set the tone for an evening of celebration for the 44th president’s second inauguration.
“He’s got both feet on the ground, and he’s not backing down,” Keys continued, “[he’s] filled with catastrophe and knows he can find a way.”
Stevie Wonder, Brad Paisley, Maná, fun, John Legend and DJ D-Nice joined in the entertainment to the satisfaction of the ball attendees.
Stevie also altered certain hit records and tailored them to the occasion. He also sang his ode to Martin Luther King, Jr., “Happy Birthday.”
Later on, Obama and the First Lady were serenaded by Jennifer Hudson as they slow danced before the audience.
The pair seemed to genuinely enjoy the moment as they took in a rendition of Al Green’s “Lets Stay Together.” Towards the end of the evening, actor Jamie Foxx would sing for vice-president Joe Bidden and his wife, Jill.
D-Nice kept the party jumping with a very eclectic mixture of songs from different eras of pop, soul, Hip-Hop and R&B.
According to reports, another event is slated for Tuesday, which will feature the likes of Lady Gaga and Jay-Z.
Roughly 800,000 people descended on Washington DC to see Barack Obama sworn in as president for a second four-year term.
