(AllHipHop News) Maybach Music Group’s flagship reggae artist Magazeen recently took a moment in between recording for his upcoming reggae and dancehall project, Red, Gold and Green, to discuss his roots and the concept behind his newest release.
‘The colors represent the earth, red, gold, and green,” Magazeen explained to AllHipHop.com. “Green is for the trees, gold is the earth, red is the fire. Right now, I’m in the studio mixing it, 18 dance hall tracks, all original beats.”
According to Magazeen, the new album is meant to solidify his commitment to the reggae/dancehall scene.
“This is for my dancehall fans who think Magazeen sells out, say Magazeen is too much on the international side, you know you have to please all the fans, so I’m just taking the time to produce a proper authentic dancehall mixtape,” the artist said, as he finishes up a tour with MMG label mate, Wale.
“It’s an experience of how the road is and being on the road with a big artist in America,” Magazeen explained. “You learn a lot of things as a reggae artist coming from Jamaica and coming to America.”
Wale jumped on Magazeen’s new single “Black Panamera”, which also has a companion video that is scheduled to drop in the coming weeks.
“When Panamera dropped, it just chance the game of dancehall. The beat’s different, the vibe’s different, the energy’s different. Porsche just came out with the four-door car which is the Panamera. I happened to sing about it, and they happened to love it. Wale loved the song as well and jumped on the remix. We shot a video for it, but the video hasn’t dropped yet.”
Red, Gold and Green is due in stores December 18. Watch AllHipHop.com’s exclusive interview with Magazeen below:
