(AllHipHop News) The FBI has updated its most wanted terrorists, and a rapper who hails from Alabama has placed high on the updated list.
The government is seeking Omar Shafik Hammami aka Abu Mansoor Al-Amriki, originally a resident of Daphne Alabama and once a student at the University of South Alabama.
According to the United States government, Omar Shafik Hammami traveled to Somalia around 2006, where he joined the military wing of al-Shabaab, which was deemed a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department in 2008.
Since then, Hammami has risen to become a leader and a major force in al-Shabaab.
Hammami has become world-famous for releasing Hip-Hop themed songs, to inspire fighters in Somalia, in addition to attracting new recruits.
“Al Shabaab was designated a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department in 2008; it has since repeatedly threatened terrorist actions against America and American interests,” the FBI said In a press release regarding the updated most wanted terrorists list.
In March 2011, it was widely reported that Hammami was killed during intense fighting in Somalia’s capital of Mogadishu.
But that was soon discredited, when Hammami appeared in a 45-minute video surfaced and called for all Muslims to unite in Jihad, or holy war.
