(AllHipHop News) Following the release of his new mixtape, Gangland, last week, Taylor Gang general Chevy Woods is already setting his sights on the his crew’s future music releases and upcoming tours.
With Gangland, Chevy originally set out to create a more “edgy, street sound,” and in his opinion that’s exactly what he has provided his fans with.
“Yeah, I think I did,” he told AllHipHop.com. “Especially because I sat down and went through the beats that I wanted to create that sound. So I would take beats that people sent me or that people told me I should rap over and really went for the sound of – not nobody else sound – just a sound of the street and where I come from and what like to listen to.”
Since its release, Gangland has already amassed almost 500,00 views and close to 200,000 downloads on DatPiff.com. In terms of what’s next for Chevy Woods, a Taylor Gang compilation album, Wiz’s sophomore Atlantic Records release, O.N.I.F.C., on August 28, and two high-profile tours: The Smoker’s Club and Under the Influence of Music Tour.
Regarding the constantly in-the-works Taylor Gang compilation project, Chevy said, “While Gangland was getting recorded, everybody was working on their own projects, and we were working on that [compilation], too, so we never slow down on that. We’re always recording new songs for that.”
He continued, “I don’t even know how we’re going to come to the table and figure out which songs to put out. There’s just a ton of music and some songs won’t make the cut, but yeah, the Taylor Gang compilation is going to be crazy! There’s not going to be no features or anything. It’s just a block of music from us, and everybody is going to love it – especially those that have been around us. It’s for the fans, it’s what they want.
“If the project is ready to go, and we all feel like it’s ready to go then it’ll go,” Chevy told us regarding the compilations release. “We’re not just going to throw anything out there but we all ran through the things that we wanted to do and being that he’s [Wiz] the Captain of the whole gang, we won’t just put it out to put it out.”
In regards to his own solo album, Chevy told AllHipHop.com, “I’m going to keep doing mixtapes, but we’re in the process of working on the album, too, so you know people should be looking out for that. I’m not saying that it’s right around the corner but we’re working on it. Just a lot of shows and being in people’s faces is what I expect to be doing for the next, at least year or two.”
Chevy Woods’ Gangland mixtape is available now.
