(AllHipHop News) Today (December 4th) marks the five-year anniversary of the tragic passing of one of the South’s most renowned and influential artists ever, Pimp C, one half of the Port Arthur, Texas duo UGK.
Pimp C, born Chad Butler, was found dead in the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles, from an overdose of promethazine and codeine and a sleep apnea condition.
Known for his uncanny lyrics, dirty production, soulful singing, an unmatched all around charisma, Pimp C will be sorely missed by Hip-Hop on this 5th anniversary and forever.

Some of Houston’s finest took time to remember Pimp C, including Slim Thug and Chamillionaire, paying their respects to Pimp C.

Breeding Ground Artists from Houston especially influenced by Pimp C, tweeted favorite lyrics, acknowledged Pimp C’s influence and Tweeted pictures remembering Pimp C and all he stood for.

Today Pimp C is not only being remembered by those not only from the south and Houston, but all across the Hip-Hop community.
One example of this was the outpouring of support that Noreaga had for Bun B, remembering Pimp C.
“Pimp c always made me laugh and every time I was around pimp he always taught me something rest in peace 2 the pimp @BunBTrillOG Im here4u,” Noreaga said.
Taylor Gang rapper and long time member of Memphis’ Three Six Mafia, Juicy J also took to Twitter to remember “The Pimp,” saying, “#RIPPIMPC #UGK4LIFE.”
