Lil’ Wayne is hot in the streets today, isn’t he!? His ears must really be ringing. I guess all this Weezy talk is good publicity for his single, “My Homies Still”, which conveniently dropped today. The track features G.O.O.D. Music soldier, Big Sean, which is a complete mind f*ck since Wayne has been beefin’ with G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T since last week, and even dropped a diss record called “Ghoulish” that dissed all of G.O.O.D. Music.
So does this collaboration with Big Sean mean Wayne is extending a peace offering towards Pusha T and G.O.O.D. Music? That would be a no! According to YMCMB President, Mack Maine, the track was recorded months ago and was already slated to be a single.
“That was a great song that was made before that situation happened,”he told MTV News. “I’m not ’bout to go into the studio and tell Wayne to take [Big Sean] off. Wayne not tryna take him off – he’s good peeps, he’s fam.”
The track is the first single off of Weezy’s upcoming album, I Am Not A Human Being 2. The track uses the “Go Stupid” hook from Big Sean’s#### single “Dance (A**)” and has a very similar beat produced by STREETRUNNER and Saron from Spliffingtonnyway Management.
Okay, so Weezy basically went ahead and did a “Mr. Me Too” and recreated Big Sean’s song. So he had to keep Big Sean on it, so it didn’t sound like a complete bite. I got it.
Anyway, the track was recorded before the beef so there are no shots taken against Pusha-T on this one. Do you think they’ll be a video for it? Would Big Sean be considered disloyal if he shot the video for it with Weezy after the recent beef?
I Am Not A Human Being 2 is expected to drop later this summer. Listen to the first single, “My Homies Still” featuring Big Sean below:
