According to TMZ, jazz musicians Eric Reed and Willie Jones III are claiming “Rigamortis” is a rip off of their “The Thorn” released in 2010. The pair have filed a lawsuit against Kendrick stating the TDE rapper never credited them or paid them for their music. Reed and Jones are seeking $1 million, any profits from the sale of the song, and all rights to the song.

Jones played drums and Reed played piano for the 1990’s band the Black Note. Both performers have released work as solo artists as well. “The Thorn” appeared on Jones’ 8-track album The Next Phase.
